injuries, tiredness and a league cup tie with the notts forest, big sam, sensing it was a time to rest a few in a game he saw as a distraction gave jones his debut,he looked a natural in all honesty he then played a worldie against chelsea in the league and the rest is history, behind the scenes there was a doubt over jones on wether the club was  going to keep him on before his impromptu debut ,absolutely **** all to do with kean btw,the slimy scottish **** was a cone and bib distributor,he had no contact with the youth team

So he did stand out against the other youth team defenders. That is why he was selected rather than someone else.

I don't see how that's a problem with Gent. It doesn't matter what he looked like in the U23s. It matters what he can do now, in senior football. Like you say, he may have (and appears to have) improved.

Gent did not have that special something that makes a player stand out. funily enough at the same time that Gent played for our U23s, three players (which is a rarety) did stand out. They were Adam Wharton, Ash Phillips, and Jake Batty. Of course it matters what Gent looked like at U23 level. But I will judge him when I see him play for our first-team.

Preston and clubs in Germany/ Holland have apparently been watching Georgie Gent.

He’s delivered more crosses per game (7.49) than anybody else in the SPL (from left back). Motherwell fans are very complimentary of him.

Hopefully another academy product who is going to get an opportunity to shine for us.

The problem with Gent is, when he played in our U23s he didn't stand out. I am not saying he hasn't improved, but he didn't stand out.

He made a mistake, Dom Hyam made 4 against Bristol City but gets far less complaints. If you go back over the season you can pin goals on most of our players it just goes unnoticed when they arent a GK.

I stand by my view, if we can only get in 3 players they should all be attackers. Even if Pears drops a couple in his net it wont matter if we cant score at the other.

It is not just that he makes mistakes, Pears is rubbish as a keeper. Successful teams are built from the back.

    Only at Rovers:

    - Implement a new structure with a DoF.

    - Hire an exciting forwardthinking headcoach

    - Reach the highest position in years.

    - Do all you can to sabotage aboves working conditions.

    - Get rid of headcoach

    - Hire a boring new headcoach

    - Sideline the DoF

    - The director brings in old players.

    - Barely avoid relegauon

whats next in this exciting adventure?

Increase the price of season tickets

They have turned down Forest's appeal so the jelly and ice cream party will have to wait a wee while longer...

It could make the last game, Dingles v Forest very interesting. I really hope the cameras are there to watch the Dingles cry at the final whistle.

Could it be jelly and ice cream day today? There is an announcement due on Forest’s appeal against their points deduction. If it’s reduced by even as much as one point the Dingles are goners.

I doubt the powers that be, will be meeting on a bank holiday.

McFadz is at his best when we’re under bombardment defending our 18 yard box and need a leader to organise things. He’s been vital since January but I do not want to spend another season like this one. By default that should mean that his services are redundant.

John MacNamee all over again. Will Carter become the modern-day Faz ?

I’m sure this will be a controversial (and insignificant) an opinion but for all Szmodic’s goals and effort, I find his on-field antics a bit distasteful. Others will love it, as they loved it when Savage, Diouf (though, not sure he was in their league of wind-ups) and others were up to it. I find it especially cringeworthy given how pathetic a team we have been.

That said, he deserves all the credit for his goals and saving us from relegation. His effort in harrying opposition players was always great. I’ll remember him fondly but not in my pantheon!

    more unfounded than controversial.

An even better goal when you factor in the number of touches he had to make at that speed, any of them less than perfect and he gets caught.

For me it was not how he got there, it was the calmness of the finish when he got in the box. A life lesson for most people.
