  1. It's hardly a leap though. Aside from the sensitive scientists (along with Jake Sully and the bird who flies the chopper) the humans are depicted as a bunch of bellicose nutjobs intent on strip-mining the sh*t out of the planet. The Na'vi on the other hand are ethereal blue naturists who can plug themselves into Mother Earth and fly kick-ass dragons. Which side are you supposed to support?

Yeah, I guess. just a thought: Will there be any screwed-up nut-cases who decide that 'Na'vi' is too close to 'Nazi'? In this day and age of PC, it may happen. But regardless, a good film. I wanna be Jake Sully. I'm not ashamed to admit I fancy the sexy, 10ft-tall, blue, long-legged fit lass. I forget her name *drool*

  2. The best? Even with a slighty dodgy storyline? I understand the 3D is amazing (going on weekend now inital hype has died down) but the best? Come on now.

By slightly dodgy, I only mean that it had me thinking of the smurfs throughout. It actually is very good. Maybe not the 'best' per se, but definately a quality film and, as I pointed out, some very important take-home messages about the real world. You find yourself on the side of the Na'vi. I genuinely felt ashamed of humans when I came out the cinema hahaha

  3. Saw Avatar with the missus on New Year's Day.....WOW. Terrific piece of cinema. Despite a SLIGHTLY dodgy storyline (while still being very good), it sent home an important message regarding our future (War, Global Warming etc etc). A very good film indeed and the 3D visuals make it simply AMAZING. Even the CGI feels real; like watching it as if the Na'vi and Pandora were REALLY filmed.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say it is by far the best film I have seen. Titanic (James Cameron's previous work) is a VERY close second. But second nonetheless. I think Avatar is THAT good.

On a side note, I'm glad to see Joel Moore (Norm Spellman) get a serious break after a fantastic comedy performance in 'Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story.' A terrific actor imo.

Commendation also goes to Sam Worthington (Jake Sully). Another fine performance from a new actor.

  4. Was always a big fan of Short.

I've long since forgiven him for turning us down in favour of Derby. ;)

Short was one of my fave players. Strong, hard, and looked like he could take several beatings and still walk away without a bruise hahaha. He's english too!!! But I always remember the day of Matty Derbyshire's debut under Souness. Didn't Short get sent off for sending a Fulham player flying about 20 yards with a single push? I would place Short in my all-time defence (of players I've seen play). While I've been a STH for 5 years and attended at least 5 games in each of my 6 years of support before that, I'd say that wasn't too hard a choice....

  5. While Craig Short's team were on a winter break, he visited Ewood Park for the Liverpool game. Later that night, he went to Westholme's Peter Pan production, where I spoke to him (his missus ran the production and my gf's sister was in it). he said that he one day hopes to coach at one of his former clubs. I told him he'd be more than welcome back here.

  6. The gf's choice of film next week: Xmas Carol.

    Mine: Harry brown.

Who's gunna win that? her no doubt, but anybody know if Harry Brown is any good? I'm told it's Sir Michael Caine's greatest performance since the Italian Job! Hope that ain't an overstatement. I'd hate to be disappointed by a man I consider to be one of the most fascinating in the world. He's on for my fantasy dinner party for sure hahaha!

  7. I'm not sure Benni is the answer to our problems, he certainly isn't in the current formation. I do agree though with those who question any idea of allowing him to leave at this point. At present we don't have a striker who can score goals, so getting rid of one who has in the past seems daft. Albeit McCarthy has done nothing for the last two years but with the World Cup coming up he should be highly motivated though I suspect he may be sulking.

When the work experience kid leaves we'll have 3 strikers - with just a couple of goals between them to date? Crackers but then if you don't create chances you can't expect strikers to score.

I personally don't think strikers will be a problem after January; all depending on the emergence of Kalinic and he now looks ready. I think the CM should be sorted so we can create the chances for Benni/Kalinic/Roberts (give him enough and he will put ONE away). Even Hoilett and Diouf may get a try up front. I think we'll be reet, provided we sort the midfield.

  8. I'd like to hear a huge benni mcCarthy chant at ewood this saturday, best way to let him and sam know how we feel about this situation.

DITTO!!! I reckon Kalinic and McCarthy could be an awesome strikeforce!! I base that on no knowledge whatsoever, so does somebody want to fill in the gaps there? We could still play dunny behond them!

  9. Scorers in all competitions

    Dunn - 5

    McCarthy, Pedersen - 2

Nzonzi, Salgado, Di Santo, Givet, Roberts, Reid, Kalinic, Diouf, Samba, Chimbonda, Holiett - 1

A bit worrying that our strikers have only scored 5 between them and 2 of thoose are from Benni's who's not played regularly.

Can't complain about the squad 'chipping in' with a couple though!
