  1. Absolutely delighted for Adam and feel privileged to have seen him playing at Rovers.

From what I am aware, Adam has triggered the additional payments in the transfer now so Palace will pay GBP23m for him.

There is a 15% of profit clause on him so I think we can be reasonably certain that another GBP10m will come our way and potentially pretty soon. Palace are sure to demand close to GBP100m.

Newcastle are at their FFP limit so could not bid. Everton desperately wanted him but are totally screwed.

By going to Palace he joined a club on the up (4 in the England squad plus almost certainly Mateta will be getting international recognition) AND was certain of starting which wouldn't have been the case at Newcastle.

Adam's first game for Palace included a few mistakes but since then he has looked far more at home in the Premier League than ever he did playing for us. Who would have credited him being statistically the number 1 midfielder in the Prem for tackles and interceptions? But that is where he is.  Huge credit. to JDT and t6he coaching team at Rovers for that.

Finally, had he stayed at Ewood, would he be in the England squad?

PS I believe there is a sell on for Kaminsky

  2. I did a simple extrapolation of bottom half clubs' current form and added 3 points for each game left to play against Rotherham.

20 March going down with Rotherham were:

    Stoke 50 points

    Rovers 45

    (Brum 12th on 60 and Huddersfield 16th on 55)

5 April going down with Rotherham:

    Huddersfield 48 on GD

    Sheffield Wednesday 46

(Brum 20th 48 on GD and Rovers 18th 52 pts)

    Actual end of season:

Brum 50 points and Huddersfield 45 both down. Rovers 18th 53 points.

So both Birmingham and Huddersfield fell away in form at the end and paid the price. Noticeable that 50 points was a relegation points total as far back as mid March. Rovers did better than simple extrapolation would have suggested we would do- those three late away wins saved us.

  3. Think the manager ratings are fair although whoever prevails in the playoffs will deserve an upgrade and the other three a downgrade.

Playoffs are a lottery and even more so with one off semifinals.

Despite their points totals, all 4 have limped to the finishing line and cases can be made for and against.

West Brom and Norwich are facing life without parachutes so will be extremely desperate. Leeds and Southampton can be handled by Rovers under Eustace playing safety first and exploiting defensive weaknesses on the break.

    Expecting negative bore fests.

I do get why its a must not lose, but bigger picture, say we draw, probably seals safety, but that would still leave Eustace yet to win at home having played Sheff Wednesday, Plymouth and Millwall. It would be pretty depressing and wouldn't bode well for next season.

Talk of filling the side with as many big players as possible to stop them. We are playing at home to second bottom, a draw and we are still catchable, a win and we are safe. Anything but a win is a huge let down IMO. A draw helps us limp over the line but lets just impose ourselves on them, win a game that we should expect to win and start to plan for next season.

A draw is a let down

A defeat could well be going down
