We actually predicted that his excuse would be the sending off. He mustn't have been facing the pitch much in the first half as they got in behind us several times. He chose not to change anything at half time so this is entirely on him.

Three games ago I was quite comfortable that we wouldn't to down. That doubt dissipated somewhat after Swansea but after Tuesday and today I'm convinced we will be relegated. The first ten minutes aside Plymouth were streets ahead of us and if I was a fan of theirs I would have been disappointed not to win and win by three or four goals. We started well, scored and Sigurdsson misses an easy chance and for some unfathomable reason the game changed. We must have the slowest three centre halves in living memory so to play a high line against a pacy young team was footballing suicide. Time and time again they got in from either a simple ball over the top, down the sides or in behind. So we get through to half time and expect changes particularly when we see Hedges doing a strenuous warm up at half time. But no, our tactically astute manager doesn't see it the same way as us and that we are once again being overrun in midfield. The second half starts in exactly the same vein and lo and behold a ball over the top of our high line catches us out and McFadzean is off. I honestly don't think that anybody with half a brain cell thought at that point we could win. Then a couple of baffling changes which hindered us even more handed a bigger advantage to Plymouth whose changes we really positive. The inevitable happened and once again was a calamity of errors. I really thought Plymouth would go on to win from there and once again bad finishing and luck saved us. Two players worthy of mention were Szmodics and Ayari. The rest were pretty useless but the biggest criticism from me is for Eustace. I know it's only early in his time here but the omens aren't good, in fact they are poor. He doesn't appear to have and tactical nous or has the ability to change anything. His one dimensional approach is alarming and his touchline demeanour doesn't inspire me. Still he might be happy tonight as, according to him today wasn't a must win game. I'm struggling to get angry right now and my acceptance is almost a fait accompli after the last thirteen years. My disgust is for the owners and their munchkins at Ewood. Hopefully something happens on Tuesday in a court on another continent that hastens their departure.
On the bus home me and my granddaughter looked at the likely line up of League One next season and have already planned some trips.

He made his debut for Chile two years ago and has lived in Spain for six months but still hasn't got the right level of linguistic skills to satisfy the Chilean manager.

Arsenal and Spurs have announced 10 and 6% price hikes in season tickets for 24-25. However Spurs are doing away with their senior season tickets for any fans reaching 65 after that. There is a great quote in the article that says 'Football has a spending oroblem, not an income problem'.

Rotherham have terminated Daniel Ayala's contract. He has played seven games and was sent off twice.

I'd like to think that his 'not a must win' comment is designed to try and take the pressure off the players. If it isn't then Eustace is really was dull as he sounds.

Eustace has played at least 3 formations already during his time here. He's clearly not wedded to a style of football (at least not one that I can make out).
Right now it's backs-to-the-wall football. I gather at Kidderminster and Birmingham City (at least this season) it was much more progressive football.
His formations have always been the same except for Swansea when we played a back four for the second half. I guess this was driven by the fact we were two down. Ironically I think that half was as good as we've been under him. He reverted to his favoured system on Tuesday.
If you are saying he has played at least three formations so far which games were they in and what was the system.

I never really got a 'puppet' vibe from Mowbray. He was self-indulgent, came out with some really ridiculous comments ("I don't look at the league table") and was a bit dull... but it was obvious he had his own way of looking at the team and at football as a whole, regardless of whether we agreed with it or not.
Eustace just spouts clichés and comes across as not being genuine in what he's saying. It's a pretty sharp reversal from JDT which makes the whiplash even worse. That's no comment on Eustace's ability, that remains to be seen, but what I've seen and heard thus far doesn't inspire any confidence in me. Obviously hope he proves me wrong - if so what he says in the media is irrelevant to me, short of praising Burnley or Venky's.
It's early days yet but I think Eustace is a poor mans Dyche. If you are winning games you get away with cliches and other inane comments but right now he isn't winning so he will be under more scrutiny.

For someone who is supposedly polar opposite that performance on Tuesday night was a carbon copy of the dross served up under JDT.
I think you missed my point. The vast majority really enjoyed the football Tomasson played until the last couple of months when he pretty much lost interest for reasons well documented. I really don't think that apart from the Newcastle match too many people have been enthused by the type of football Eustace plays. Ultimately it's about winning though.
I remember asking you who would be your choice of manager when you were banging the Tomasson out drum. In fairness you said Eustace so what are your thoughts so far?

After JDT, you are worried about Eustices inflexibility???
Until the last two months of his tenure there was very little comment about Tomasson's style. We knew from day one what to expect and by and large he delivered, perhaps even exceeded our expectations. His downfall was his reluctance to change. For most games the football was enjoyable and pleasing on the eye. I see Eustace as polar opposite in his style of play and I don't believe he has the wherewithal to play another way. In many respects their attitudes are similar but I know which type of football I enjoyed watching more.
The most important thing is results and providing they are favourable then the majority will accept and say of playing.

That probably explains why Tomasson was reportedly at the Academy this week. Tyjon has also played several times for the under 21's and I think, along with Finneran has been with the first team. I think the Dunn is David's son.

Venkys here for the long term. Hello National League North.
That is something I can't grasp either. How can it be when an Indian judge could once again veto the transferring of money? The way I see it the immediate future of one of the greatest sporting institutions in this country is at the whim of some Indian who has probably never heard of us. And what if he does grant it this time. Do we go back to court in three months and go through the whole charade again?

With Leo in goal,I really think Eustace has No CHOICE but to play 3 at the back. Its not his fault that a few of our more injury-prone players aka JRC & Carter are the better ones.
Think the criticism of the (uninspiring)new manager is a bit overdone. At least not playing the JDT "2 at the back suicidal football" gives us a chance of dredging something from the match.
Dredge it will be. Remember we are not a very good team.
Eustace has played a back five in every game apart from the second half at Swansea. Pears was in goal for them all save for last night. In pretty much every game we have been outnumbered in midfield which in my view has gone a long way to not winning. My real doubt about Eustace is his lack of flexibility in his tactics (Newcastle apart) when our play has been predictable.

On the way outlast night, I was lamenting our pathetic record of grabbing something at the death and contrasted to Ipswich Town. Looked at my phone and they were losing with ten to go and once more turned it around with goals at the death. That is what tells you that a team has players fighting and believing, something we haven’t seen for a long time in the blue and white halves 😡
I can't think why on earth we would take a short corner in stoppage time when we have sent three centre halves up. The fact the corner was embarrassing just adds insult to injury. In fairness though we did a similar thing at Rotherham when we had come back from two down against the men.
It's infuriating and just shows a lack of understanding by some players.
One thing to give Eustace some credit for was that when Millwall had a corner late on we left two players up. I just wish it would happen more.

"Leo came in and I thought was very good tonight."
"He had very limited things to do, just the goal probably. I was happy with his distribution and keeping the back line up."
Talk about damning with faint praise.
How about: "He had one thing to do and blew that."
A keeper devoid of confidence whom the defence visibly have no confidence in in return.
What the hell does that mean?

October?? bloodyell.
You were wrong in what you said. So now because it was October it doesn't count?
By all means you can praise Eustace for getting draws after going behind but using Tomasson to justify your point is just a cheap shot.

I really haven't got a clue how this will go. Will Eustace play his favoured five at the back and allow us to be overrun in midfield? Will Dolan and Gallagher start after shocking performances last night? Will we put corners into the penalty area? Will Hyam make a tackle?

Draws have been off the cards for over a year from a goal down. It's the one major positive in his favour so far, that and we look a lot more secure defending set pieces, plus we've scored from 2 under him.
Not massive positives, but definitely positives from the last bloke.
Rotherham away. Two down, drew. August 12th.
Millwall away. One down, won. October 24th.
Behind twice against both Walsall and Cambridge and won.
And within the last year we came back from 3-1 down at Millwall to win. Also at home to Luton and Huddersfield away.
If you are intent on disrespecting Tomasson at least get your facts right.

Congratulations to Szmodics who scored his 100th career goal and his 20th for us this season.
It's terrifying to think that without his goals we would have only scored 30.
Reap what you sow.

I just have missed this 'character' of the players he talks about. I saw lots of weak characters who were prepared to take the easy option far too often.

I honestly can't remember an incident as embarrassing as the Pickering and Ayari corner near the end. It kind of sums up Blackburn Rovers right now. And Hyam gesturing to the crowd because the wanted him to play forward but he took the cowards way and went back to McFadzean. And that fucker is our captain, our leader and supposed inspiration. I hope the boos at the end are ringing in his ears for the next few days.
Five at the back at home to Millwall really is poor from the manager. Once again we were outnumbered in midfield as Millwall were allowed to do what they are good at namely out muscle us. So many of our players were poor, no really poor but special mention must go to Dolan and Gallagher who were neither use nor ornament. It was weary tonight and players look like they are frightened to death. Is it all down to confidence? I'm not sure it is. We are insipid, lack any fight or motivation and seem to have little pride.
I know he's only been here a short while but the signs aren't good with Eustace. His tactics are so basic, we don't seem to have a game plan and he just doesn't seem to have and motivational aptitude. But we are stuck with him.

1. By all accounts he did not want to leave
2. He was integral to the team and the best player we had
3. Why not keep him until the end of the season, increase his value more, then sell him. Telling me Crystal Palace (and others) would have lost interest by then?
Another outstanding decision from our glorious leadership.
Rotten.
I am of the opinion that selling Adam has helped to stave off administration in the short term. I also heard he didn't want to leave and was happy with the progress he was making under Tomasson. If it's true it's a shameful way to treat a young lad whose head must have been spinning.
Shame on them all.

I don't disagree but he signed a two and a half year contract and I don't believe we can afford to get rid of him or his staff. I think even if we are relegated he will be here next season.
