Unless you were listening to radio 5 live (radio rovers didn't cover it) and it might have been difficult to see, N'Zogbia punched Neill and they felt he certainly should have been sent off.

Oh, I'm not saying that we are not in serious trouble, anyone who was in the chat room during the match will know that. However, I was encouraged by that second half and it is up to Hughes to prove his worth at this point and show us that he can get the team to perform like that for entire matches and not just when they feel like it.

At least we showed fight and at least MGP played well (don't worry he won't be back in my fantasy team and Benni will be dropped). If we can play like we did in the second half for the rest of the season we'll be fine.

The government is planning to look into whether betting firms should be allowed to sponsor football teams. It is thought that this may clash with the current legislation that prevent betting firms from advertising to audiences where more than 25% are under the age of 18. This could well spell the end of our brief fling with Bet 24 if it does happen. Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.

I thought he looked pretty good against Charlton, certainly as good as anyone else going forward, at least he has a bit of pace and can beat, or at least trouble, his man.

It was, but then we were fortunate enough that our relegation happened at probably just the right time. We had a great batch of young players come through and they formed the nucleus of a very good side that went on to do very well in the Premiership. If we were relegated today then we wouldn't be that lucky and we would have to do some very good transfer dealings in order to get a side anything like what we had when we were in division 1.

Can we just not bother having one this year?

I can't believe anyone would want to see us relegated and I'm sure all of your tunes would change if we actually were. Winning the UEFA Cup would be great, but not if it came at the cost of a spot in the top league. Here's my main reason why I wouldn't: we only really benefit from winning the UEFA Cup if we stay in the Premiership. If we are relegated then the increased profile of the club will be negated and it will have got us nowhere. How many of you can name the team that won the UEFA Cup 5 seasons ago, or even 3 seasons ago for that matter (and no cheating on this)? It will be a nice memory and a great day out, but just like I wouldn't have wanted to sacrifice our league status for the league cup win, I wouldn't do it for the UEFA Cup. Midtable mediocrity can be boring at times, but it's a hell of a lot better than being midtable in the championship, there are plenty of teams who would change places with us.

Absolute must win and rovers to bounce back in fine style with a 5-1 win.
