Rovermatt Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 You only need to look at the recent failures of Gareth Barry (for example) to see that it's far from the easiest job in football. The position requires sound technique, fitness, tactical acumen and discipline. The ability to tackle and read the game are also essential to being a truly effective defensive midfielder.

thenodrog Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Didn't think he was particularly fantastic last night. First game when he hasn't been given acres of space to sit back in front of the back four and play simple passes and he looked hurried and out of place. Not easy playing up against the Spanish midfield, but playing the easiest position on the park can make a player look a lot better. Nice to see you living down to your position of the boards biggest footballing know-nowt eddie. Virtually everything you say is nonsense and frequently gets ridiculed but you just keep coming back for more. You must have the hide of a rhino.
