A price freeze was really the only viable option for the Club after the sort of season we've had but fairplay nonetheless.
However this will only be of benefit if we actually strengthen this close season. The benefits of the price freeze will soon be forgotten if we see Friedel and/or Ferguson and/or Cole heading for the exit door this summer.
(Still can't understand why the club are surprised attendances dropped after selling Dunn and Duff.)
Of even greater significance though is what the club are hoping to do with the direct debit scheme and with a bit of luck they really will deserve praising on that front.
Rev you always seem to beat me to it!!
No surprise to me either on this account - but will it be enough for the loyalists? Will be interesting to see the details of the D/D scheme
Still have my doubts unless some major (fresh) incomings happen rather than outgoings except for the dross (see ya later Emerton).
JW-Bit of advice - how about having a word with Souness about win bonuses when negotiating deals with players - no win and only basic wage - win and your pockets will be filled - and if they don't like it then tough luck, we don't want you - only players that are prepared to sweat blood and guts for the shirt - just a thought rather than overpaid mercanaries. Maybe then you might see a bit of more response from the paying public.
Roll on Rovers - this summer could determine our next 5 years.
Souness - THE ROVERS FANS EXPECT - will you deliver??
Controversial - maybe - but needs to me said.
-
you will struggle to get a flight now.
Think it will be the accommodation that you will struggle on more - unless you are willing to pay over the rip-off over the odds excessive amount the hoteliers etc are charging.
Managed to get in a Hotel in Setubal -appx 1/2 hr outside Lisbon £150 for 4 nights with breakfast.
-
tickets for euro 2004 have arrived
Just got ours for the England v Croatia game - come on!!!
-
that it'll cost a few bob to replace him - probably more than we have to spend this summer (I'm guessing again).
Surely not putting yourself up for transfer BobF??
You martyr you
HAIL BOBF! HAIL BOBF! HAIL BOBF!

As I said earlier on this thread , the brummies are on one again thinking they are summat when all they have done is finish 10th in a poor premier league which in all essence shows just how bad we are.
Have to disagree with most of you, thought they where quite loud at ONE point, but can't for the life of me work out how they seem to think they where loud all through the match - Have to admit, when they are on song I consider the 'big heads' to be one of the loudest set of fans around, but thought they where quite disappointing really on Saturday compared to other times we have played them.
Enjoy your 'limelight' bluenoses because I think you'll come back down to earth with a bump next Season
Now back to us, regardless of it being the last game of the Season found it very boring and worryingand a total let down that we could not finish off a poor Birmingham team. Flitcroft was annonymous (times up Shagger), Neill was yet again poor when he came on, Short looked sluggish and for some reason Stead looked 'out of sorts' even though he did put in the effort without much gain.
Positives - Johannson was excellent -seemed to win everything, thought Douglas played well but still feel we lose out on a lot of chances of getting forward by playing him on the left, Cole worked his socks off in possibly his last game and Gray kept up to his excellent consistency with another good game, Enks made a terrific save and looked comfortable and more confident.
Negatives - poor match wtih lots of wasted space and opportunity given up down the flanks to attack due to the formation
Souness not putting on Gallagher sooner and Jansen not getting a game.
And for the first time ever -I was another that didn't stay at the end, because I don't feel the players or Souness deserved it.
-
In the second half Emerton beats three players in quick succession down the right flank before playing a beautiful cross into the box for Cole to power an unstoppable headed equalizer.
Now we are getting far fetched - Emerton beats 3 players /Cole a Header!!
Been drinking again Nuclear??
See the Brummies think they are something again - we'll see . St Andrews isn't that where they still use 'clubs' (eek!) UG! UG!
Going against all my instinct and judgement of watching Rovers over the years and the crap season we have had and last weeks miserly efforts, and predicting a handsome win for the ROVERS.
Finish off how we started - 5-1 Rovers with a penalty to boot (and miss )
Get in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent day had by myself. Quality weekend in fact. Still recovering...
Great to meet CAPT_KAYOS... he's a bit of a looney!!
P.s. I've got some great pics on cd from the game/weekend. Can someone PM me their e-mail address, who is logged onto brfcs.fotopic so we can post them on there?
Me a looney - tweep!! tweep!!
Nice to meet you SS and yer dad
What time did everybody leave the Red Lion?
-
You carn't go any where these days without being recognized.
It's all the more surprising considering how many lagered-up geezers carrying sex-dolls and wearing an "Orvil" shirt there are!
Hang a hanky on their heads as well Bryan and you have the next trend generation of dedicated fashion followers - believe me you would if you had seen the natives of Tottenham on Saturday.

Is it a big pub and does it accept away fans?
Classed as clientele of Spurs fans and locals
Apparently last year folk went in there no problem.
I do think we should play carefully though - a few Rovers fans drinking quietly in the corner is one thing, hordes of us carrying large items of blow up fruit might be slightly different.
Poss Tris, but heh -its the last game and I'm sure the Spurs fans won't bother
But think we will be heading for 'The Park Pub' or somewhere with a car park as we are driving and comeing back rather than staying over.
-
Just got mi Flippers - yipppeeeee!!!
" Oh we do like to be beside the seaside....
Oh we do like to be beside the sea....
Oh we do like like to stroll down to tottenham...
Where the ROVERS sing - where's mi inflatables gone...."
Now where's that hanky?

What puzzles me is why we went for Stead. McBride was the type of player (strong in the air, can hold the ball and score a few) Rovers has cried for seasons and we nearly got one during the Hodgson era in Dublin but ended up with Blake. Souness saw this and went for McBride, so he turned us down but why did he then switch attention to a player he never saw and is clearly not the type he wanted. It seems to me that he was so down by the whole saga and desperate for a new striker he would have taken anyone but luckily it ended well.
Think you'll find that we had been watching Stead since last Season (inc Souness I think) so it wasn't a bolt out of the blue.
Think? I posted this on here before we signed him, and mentioned since Souness had had him watched for quite a while, so the likelihood is we would have ended up getting Stead (probably at the end of the season) regardless of the Mcbride situation.

Kayos - thought you'd might like to change the first verse, how's about..
"We have something special, in fact its folklore
We are not a joke you've heard of us before
We have a club a wonderful thing
We don't care what they do in training..."
Just a thought.
Ah BobF mi old mucka - but then I would be lieing as I do care about what we do in training.
Still want to know whether its whippets/ nags or pigeons
-
Probably not the right place but just to add to the Rovers from the Beach song thought I would post this here and whet everybody's appetite
(Think I've posted it before on the Songs forum but now extended it)
To Abba's 'Thankyou for the Music'
We have something special, in fact its folklore
We are not a joke you've heard of us before
We have a club a wonderful thing
Everyone listens when we start to sing
We’re so grateful and proud
All we want is to sing it out loud
So we say
Thank you for the Rovers, the songs we’re singing
Thanks for all the joy they're bringing
If you can live without em, we ask in all honesty
What would life be?
Would you rather watch Burnerleee
So we say thank you for the Rovers
And giving them to me
Mother's say we where Rovers before we could walk
They say we began to sing long before we could talk
And we've often wondered, how did it all start?
Who found out that Rovers can capture a heart
Like a melody can?
Well, whoever it was, we are forever a fan
So we say
Thank you for the Rovers……

Peter Reid?

Knotted hanky in the making.
Also, have a pair of flippers coming my way (hope they let me in with them on though)
Spurs Steward : "You can't come in!"
Capt K : "Why not?"
Spurs Steward : "Because there's something fishy about you"
Capt K: "No there isn't"
Spurs Steward: "Yes there is, you're Flippered"
Capt K :" Damn, and there I thought I was just pished"

Wolves have now sold 19,000+ tickets for Div 1.........
SG194
This is a great bug bear of mine that other clubs do and we don't - getting Season Ticket sales early.
Said it for years and years why we can't do this?
Unfortunately for the Rovers, the seed has been sown this season (way before the slump -although we could have done things to rectify it before the last two weeks) and unless there is a major incentive or reduction in prices, as I have said on other threads - JW and the Board better be prepared for the impact.
Personally, I feel we will be slow to hit the 10k mark never mind 12k - so unless something major happens re prices or signings then I feel JW is conning himself into thinking there will be anything but worry on the S/T side of sales.
I'll be renewing mine, but it is now getting to the stage where even I have to start thinking about the cost of tickets.
-
Well I'm up for it - but bluntly refuse to wear sandals
-
Kayos - you have a look of Roar anyway - don't think you need a mask, save your money.
Should be a quiet do.
Knew I'd seen that geezer somewhere before.
Not with you there it won't
Back to Steb though - how come they are advertising Beachballs and there are none on sale - mis appropiate selling I call it, where are them trading standards when you need them.
Anyway, song for you all to learn and get in to fine voice fettler for the day
' We are Rovers
Super Rovers
We are Rovers... from the Beach'
-
Ah right.... well Im going with 45 other roverites on the Friday, coming back Sunday
Board members on the same trip include SteB, Verminator and Damo Gally.
Is that on the Ewood Blues package??
Couldn't commit to anything until recently - but now got tickets so looking at staying down - don't know where but will find somewhere.
-
Bad News.. i've just been to the club shop, and I couldnt find any Rovers beach balls. Reckon the boy fleming has been down and is planning on making a tidy profit on them. No Christmas in Florida or BlueBoy outfits either.
Bloody 100's of Roar masks though.
Damn you BobF - better have mine on Saturday

Gav - you've answered the problem there in one swoop.
After the season we have had - at Rovers people know they can always buy tickets match by match 99% of the time and no more so likely that next season. So unless there is some major scoop(s) signing, people will probably see how the season pans out upto Xmas, and dependent on the remaining fixtures at home IMO we may well see an upturn in the 1/2 season tickets if the season is looking promising.
As I have said previously as many others, the Board and JW especially had better be prepared for a shock re the S/T sales
As my better half said - what use is a £50 off travel voucher to you?
CK reply - 'Ah but it depends on how long its valid for! could use it for Europe (next season)- but knowing Rovers probaly only upto Dec 2004'
Personally Rovers fans are not bothered about what other clubs do with their prices so long as they feel theirs is worth the price - somehow freezing the price IMO will not attract any more fans.
