  1. absolutely, its just total hypocrisy. you either eat meat or you don't, the only thing i try to choose is meat raised and slaughter in the uk(as we do seem to have far higher animal welfare standards than most countries in the world)
  2. Yea its moved too across from the new market(i think its next too or very close to the roverstore), bit grubby still inside, the upstairs has big glass windows with a nice view over the cathedral grounds at the back or Church street at the front its great for just relaxing, people watching, not trying to kid anybody into thinking it fine dinning, just good old english cafe/diner grub with a decent brew or coffee. I actually like Blackburn town centre now(not that i ever have any money to spend to warrent going there much), its as good as anything around here outside of Manchester in my opinion and puts the town centres of surrounding towns to shame. (and i never seem to have any problems finding parking spaces!)
  3. El Grecos - pie, peas and gravy Get In. (their gravy is the best ever, probably just cheap gravy but its got a really good distinctive taste that's never changed over the years)
  4. I don't understand how that post deletion was really necessary mods?(it was a factual unoffensive response to abbeys post)
  5. go their regularly, never had any problems. It is next to a heavily populated predominantly Asian area, so obviously there are going to be a lot of Asian lads hanging around(if that's what your getting at!), no different than having young white ladsNlasies hanging around shops, pubs, community centres, etc... in mainly white areas and there's always plenty of young white troublemakers hanging around Ewood on match days(many of which aren't even there to attend the game, there just drawn to the crowd). It would be ridiculous to start up a new topic for every little digression and it does normally come back around to the main topic(and the topic you pick up on is food related!).
  6. O, Yea, because nasty #### doesn't happen in white society, one word-Saville(and he's probably not even the tip of the paedo iceberg hidden in our society). and there's 100s of 'Cregans' out there in this county alone.
  7. I totally agree on the KFC in Blackburn(im assuming you mean the one across from the observatory), it really is and always has been pretty vile in every way possible especially compared to some kfc's ive been too out of town(it makes the kfc at salmesbury look like the ritz)even the staff and management there are rough as hell and always grubby looking. Even at fast food chains there is a certain standard decent they usual all meet these days,i imagine because of all the competition from the many independent take away/eat in cafe/restaurants and coffee shops that have sprung up every where over the last 5-10 years, most of which offer good quality food&drink at the same price as the big fast food chains.(but for some weird reason the KFC in Blackburn has always stayed the same) As for Halal slaughtering methods and all slaughter houses in general, i think they vary from one place to the next and there's probably things that happen in all slaughterhouses every day that would shock anybody if they knew what was really happening inside those walls when the inspectors are around. There is one argument that halal slaughter men are more professional, respectful and efficient in the way the kill/cut the animals as their job is a more specialised. To add ive just read that many Halal slaughterhouse do actually now stun the animal in some way before killing, kfc apparently demand that this happens. p.s. I know its bad but i kinda like Bernard Mathews turkey drumsticks and turkey burgers on occasion, I think largely for silly nostalgic reasons(growing up on shad estate with no money, Bernard Mathews was staple food), the drumsticks in particular do have quite a unique flavour that's very tasty, i imagine they are a reasonably good source of protein for the price(turkey meat is considered a superfood for its high protein/low fat ratio isn't it:) and ethically i think it would also be hypocritical to consider Bernard Mathews any worst than most other fast food meat sources and easily affordable frozen processed meat foods.
  8. Rant and digress all you like, its all just pretense from you fella.
  9. ignorant comments. Worrying over whether the practise of killing an animal the halal way causes more suffering to the animal(halal basically means its been quickly bleed to death with a little prayer said over it) is one thing, but it seems you and drog are more concerned about the threat of the Muslim culture slipping into your lives(maybe your lives could do with a little culture?). its like refusing to eat food that is labelled suitable for vegetarians, just because your not a vegetarian. As for the practise of halal slaughtering being more cruel, well there's always numerus well publicized reports of serious cruelty and torture going on in regular British slaughterhouses(all be it usually just by a small handful of sick Weirdo employees)
  10. Obviously any animal slaughtered in the uk has to meet the same animal welfare standards, halal or not, its clearly only hypocrites and people with a hidden niggle against muslims(and who doesn't have one of them these days:) that make a fuss.
  11. sorry, whats sneaky hallal? to non muslims isn't halal meat just meat where the animal is slaughtered and prepared slightly differently, its only muslims that should be concerned. (or am i miss reading your post)
  12. shouldn't be looking at those things at your age
  13. McDonald's is popular(they do something special with a slice of gherkin!)
  14. isn't it the same for all men though(if where honest)
  15. see who wears the trousers in your house then.
  16. Just been to see The Hobbit, Loved it(minor flaws and 3D gimimickry aside), Personally id say its better than Fellowship of the ring as a trilogy Starter.
  17. 100% no, i think most actually book the day off, but there's plenty off none muslims to pick up the slack those days. To be totally honest in my experience(and that of most i know) in general its white English taxi drivers around here that let the side down(overcharging, expecting tips, bad attitudes, poor timing, ect....).
  18. Personally Its very rare that i catch a taxi, so if i where to catch one on Xmas day of all days id be content(not happy!) to pay a few quid extra and even though Muslims don't celebrate Xmas the way we do(if at all) you have to remember officially its still a bank holiday and i know i wouldn't work a bank holiday (even if its only for a mickey mouse royal occasion that means d-to-the-K ta me).
  19. TBF you oppose to everything and everybody, you are the proverbial 'objection to the rule'(but at least your consistent). im just watching an idiot abroad and i picture you as an elderly(and much more bigoted) Karl pilkington type figure.
  20. i bet they get a steady stream of customers though! so fair play to them, Christmas means nothing to them so why shouldn't they make a few quid(im assuming its asian run), Taxi drivers do it(and they even take advantage by upping the prices) and nobody complains.
  21. Bryan street chippy's real good (just wish the old bird behind counter would leave the interrogation out every visit and just give you what you actually ordered ). p.s. I wish traditional local English chippys would open evenings once again(especially friday/saturday), what happened to a good old fishNchip super.
  22. I havnt been to the 'Strawberry Duck' for a while but it used to be very nice, good menu, quality food(reasonably priced), freindly warm cosy environment, great surroundings if you fancy a walk, very dog friendly! its right by the Entwhistle train stop(between bolton and Blackburn).
  23. get down ta redcap lad. p.s.. old mother redcap is always popular with regular folk for a reasonable carvery(as long as your not a food snob), beef, turkey or gammon(or a mix of the 3)+ plus all the roasties'n'veg(good selection, good quality) and trimmings you like for around a fiver, only prob its quite busy and can get a little grubby sometimes, reasonable selection of beers also.
