  1. WHY DO YOU ALWAYS POST NEGATIVE ###### ALL THE FKG TIME .... Probbaly because he's a disgrace and a scumbag. The board can do without that pillock. Sorry about the namecalling - I'd had a few when I posted that. Even though I disagree with kennysuperbuyer and have yet to see a positive comment from him I should have disagreed differently without calling names. One thing I want to know though- why does kennysuperbuyer post continuousluy during the bad patches the team has to stir things up yet disappears from the board when we are doing well?

  3. Can I correct you bob please..the MAIN reason for having a season ticket is to financially support the club. Sorry SG194, Bob was right. The reason to pay for a season ticket is to save the hassle of specifically buying tickets. Rovers isn't a charity, we pay for a service. Which is why if people do not feel they are getting a decent deal they have every right to stop pouring their money into the club. If the club "wont ever bother again" then they will get what they deserve; less fans. Rovers are a business as much as a club. If it wants to be one it has to shake this feeling of having a God-given right to money from the local population. Why should Rovers be funded with money that could go on people's family without even bothering to earn it? Following a club may be a right and a privilege but it's also bloody expensive do these days!
  4. Hope you enjoy the Champions League Jan, then the Uefa Cup directly after of course... Hey- Nationwide or Premiership, I'll always be a Rovers fan. Will you?
  5. Sorry mate...I had the taxi taken to a deserted post-industrial wasteland and torched. Not only did your coat go up in flames but so did 'Paul's Big Book of Dodgy Puns'. Some said I was being harsh but all I say is that I was doing it for our children. They deserve a better world, a world free of Paul's Puns. Not too sure why your coat had to go as well but there you go... On another note, how many season tickets did we sell in the end last year?
  6. Bellamy11 - that is fair enough but you will have to specify something else for those so inclined to be able to whinge about. It's blatantly obvious that some on here are only happy when they are moaning. It's one thing to have your say when you are put out but it is completely different to criticise every single decision by the club. There is a difference between being concerned for the club and of being so self-centred as to grab at every single action by the club in a desperate and selfish desire to satisfy their own need to berate, heckle and accuse. Some just want to point fingers and hurl abuse. Sometimes debates on here resemble public hangings in the need to see somebody scapegoated. Serious question - What proper Rovers fan would stop going to Ewood because we buy Dickov as a squad player? This is ridiculous for a signing of 100 K. Luckily the polls prove that the majority of Rovers fans have their feet on the ground. The vast majority think it is an ok signing for the money. Big deal. No need to go jumping out of windows but no need to put on an open-bus parade either. Some people are desperately in need of a sense of perspective.... So let's pin that on the board like bellamy11 said and chill out a bit.
  7. It's probably that incident that has led me to stop shooting my mouth off over every signing we make. When Todd was signed I was completely against it and thought it would be a disaster. Todd eventually impressed so much that I had to post how he had shown me to be utterly wrong in the middle of last season. Of course he then spoilt all the good walk by walking out of Ewood on the eve of a game but that doesn't negate the part he played. By that time Todd had proved himself to be a good member of the squad to have, something that Tris had mentioned numerous times but myself and many of those posters on here now up in arms about this signing had disagreed with. Dickov seems a similar signing- cheap and to be a squad player, meaning he could be first choice but only if he played out of his skin. This time I'm going to give the guy a chance before deciding he is a poor signing. I'm going to see just what he offers our team first. It's be nice if other posters could do the same, especially as they've been proved wrong before. I've learnt my lesson regarding shooting my mouth off thanks to the likes of Freidel, Stead and Todd either proving me wrong or at least performing better than I expected. Is there anyone else up for being a bit less quick to criticise? What's that noise I can hear??? Oh, right.... "On my own, on my own, on my own...." Fair enough.
  8. Yes waggy. Brian Deane is on his way. Souness must have lost it then. Actually...we could really do with a younger Brian Deane type.
  9. Well he certainly doesn't play like any of the forwards we already have so I don't know what you mean with that, I can tell that from the limited amount that I've seen him. Dickov is a handful for opposition defenders, getting in their way and disrupting their game which certainly none of our current forwards do. There are two types of forward I'd have liked to have seen us get. The first is a target man who can hold the ball up, win flick-ons, run the channels, and get on the end of crosses. The second is someone with real pace who will allow us to play the ball over the top of the opposition's defence and turn defenders. A forward of either type would give the team more options. I don't disagree with what you say but I still think that for the price Dickov is a decent if unspectacular signing. To be honest I'd also like to see Jansen go and a targetman brought in. Not that I don't like Matt but how long do we have to wait for him to come good again? Just can't see it happening and if he wasn't on a lucrative long-term contract I doubt he'd still be here and some other club would have taken a chance on him.
  10. Waggy- how can you possibly compare Sir Alex's careful nuturing of youth players over half a decade in some cases before gradually blooding them in the team, usually after loan deals at other clubs with your call to spontaneously throw in the youngsters, presumably just for the hell of it? The approach you suggested is infintely less subtle and potentially far more damaging to the players than anything Ferguson would put his name to. beg to differ, the 3rd premiership season fergie started with all his youngsters, they got hammered 3-1 at villa and hansen said YOU WIN NOWT WITH KIDS,which utd did, they won the league, yes beckham went to preston, and the nevilles and scoles to bury or stocprt, but were have danns-donnely-harkins etc been in the last few years. That says it all really waggy. From Beckham, the Nevilles and Scholes directly onto Danns-donelly-harkins and all in the one sentence. That is one of the reasons why mentioning Ferguson in the manner as your own ideas for chucking in the youth is ludicrous. Ferguson's idea is too gradually introduce them- yours was "Chuck 'em in! I don't know most of their names but chuck in anyway". If they are good enough they are old enough is Ferguson's matra- but he then still only gradually puts them in the team. If they aren't good enough they shouldn't be in our team. Souness has a history at Rovers of putting youngsters in the team. I'm sure that if they are good they will get the chance when they are ready- not just when you stick a post on a messageboard calling for them all to get a chance right away. If, like Burgess, they aren't good enough then get rid. Let's not get all sentimental bout players just because they are young. Youth doesn't win points all on its own

Dickov is a handful for opposition defenders, getting in their way and disrupting their game which certainly none of our current forwards do. Look- it's a couple of hundred grand. A cheap boost to the squad to replace the hapless Yorke who is a pale shadow of his former self. People are looking to much into this. It's similar to the Todd signing a few years ago. People were up in arms (including myself I must admit but that's because I thought he was a prat rather than it being about his talent or lack of it) but what do you expect for a squad player? The only way he'd be our main striker is if he put in some fantastic performances and we could hardly complain about that then could we?

  13. 11 goals in the Premiership last season suggest otherwise.
  14. Good bit of business for a squad player. As long as he doesn't replace Cole (which it seems he isn't) then I can't understand any complaints. We still have other areas that need reinforcing and hopefully they will be the main areas for our transfer targets over the summer.
  15. Congratulations to Jason on the end of his first season putting forward the 'Fans' View' even if Sam Dingle probably still thinks he is a " dimwitted monkey". No pleasing them Yorkshire folk... LD Rover's season view can be seen in the LET tonight and I would post a link to the story on http://www.thisislancashire.co.uk but I can't actually find the thing.
  16. Don't worry, and I'll ignore your personal insults too. I'm just surprised you fell for it. What personal insults? I compared you to a pantie-wetting Beatles fan. You've never had such good press.....
  17. Jim- I take all you say with a pinch of salt. A very very big pinch...
  18. I posted this three days ago. Get a grip. Interestingly, Dowie's wife and children are settled in Lancashire and he refuses to move them south (very sensible in my opinion). Hopefully there will be a vacancy at Ewood Park that he can move into. Unbelievable. After years of verbal diarrhea against the management and board of Rovers you finally come up with a replacement; by jumping on the Dowie bandwagon like a pantie-wetting sixties Beatles fan. Come up with something other than the flavour-of-the-month Dowie and people may take you seriously instead of thinking of you as an unvariable and ever increasingly desperate wind-up merchant. Oh and how sad and cloying was the "posted it three days ago" remark? What a perceptive take on things. Obviously you must be the only one who had recognised Dowie's potential before the play-off final. In Jimworld anyway... PS- Despite what I said above I don't think Mark Hughes would be a bad choice as such, just that it would be a poor move to sack Souness now and bring him in.
  19. Ricky that point about Duff I've made many times. I always held the opinion that if Duff ever learnt how to score then we could not hold on to him. Credit to Saunders who imo gave him the confidence necessary and taught him how to score and we did indeed make big bucks out of selling him........ however the fact remains that the current management team have had a bad season and as they say in football "you are only as good as your last game"! Exactly thenodrog....you are only as bad as your last game... Mark Hughes' last game was a gutless capitulation to Russia. Admittedly Russia are a good side but that does not excuse the limp and listless performance the supposeldy-patriotic Welsh side put in that night. Can anyone actually name a possible succesor whose 'last game' wasn't rubbish? I mean it...come on if we are to sack Souness then let's at least have a viable strategy to replace him. Other than rover6 who commendably put forward Paul Sturrock (to much derision including from myself I must say), the constanly anti-Souness brigade such as kennysuperbuyer have constantly failed to provide any kind of alternative. If we are to sack a manager who has won us promotion and a cup I'd like a serious proposition, not just the tedious diatribe of continual whinging we usually have to put up with...
  20. Since Stead has come along Cole has looked fantastic and the younger player also seems to be blossoming under the tutelage of such an experienced player as Cole. To want to break up such a promising front line pairing is madness.
  21. this year starts on jan the 1st john not in december It's the old chestnut though...if you want rid who do we bring in? The only managers I remember you mentioning are Mark Hughes, who despite some impressive results in friendlies has still ultimately failed to get Wales into Euro 2004 and instead snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. You say Tugay can no longer do it; well, he could do it a month ago so when exactly did he go past it? There is no reason to think that as long as he used a bit more sparingly in future rather than playing every game. Tugay has always been inconsistent for us, if he wasn't inconsistent he would be at a bigger club. You've said Cole is lazy in the past and doesn't give a damn about the club. The second part may be true but where do you get the first one? It certainly isn't from watching the games. I've watched Cole countless times and he's always seemed commited and has had no problem working his socks off. Despite him being our best player this year (that has been here all season) you have said on another thread you'd be happy if he left. Why? Let's sell all our best players and sack Souness for Peter Reid eh? While I'd have no problem wanting Souness to leave if we were having another poor season later on, surely we should give him a chance to rectify the wrongs? He's overperformed with Rovers at times; winning a cup and sixth place so soon after the depths of the Kidd regime? We want someone to take us up the league; Souness has already done that. It only makes sense to see if he can repeat that before realising he can't and then sacking him which would cost us a fortune in compensation. Souness has to improve. We know that. If he doesn't there be calls for his head. To suggest not giving him the chance to put right his wrongs after such an impressive preformance before this season is too much, too soon. Basing Souness on his entire record at Rovers rather than kneejerk reactions to latest results. waggy- I'll just say that you have consistently held your views and I respect that, unlike some members of this board you haven't popped on to say "told you so" after every single Rovers defeat. You make your case better than most.
  22. Can just imagine the scene at Lancashire Police HQ- "big news lads...Rovers youth team are playing Burnley reserves on a training pitch at Brockhall. They're expectating two men and a dog. Cancel all holidays and grab your riot gear...we're going in...."
  23. Seriously doubt there'd be any trouble seeing as we'd only be sending a youth team or whatever. Bring back the Lancs Manx Cup- proper tournament that one!
