Gonna have our work cut out for us against Cov, Gyokyres really is a handful but it's a game probably more suited to us. Contain and hit them on the break. Breaking down a team set up to defend has been the obvious issue this season. We need to be brave and far more clinical than previous games. Be more direct, no short corners, no waiting until the last 20 mins to show any urgency, make changes if it's not working, throw a few long balls into the box, have a shot when the opportunity arises, don't hesitate, get stuck in, track your man. These are all basic requests but ones we have been very poor at executing overall. -

Exactly. There was at least 3 occasions at the weekend where we failed to pull the trigger when the shot was clearly on. You have to gamble, the keepers in this league are suspect and you can also get a deflection or a rebound. The more touches we take the more time we allow the opposition to regroup and the opportunities just fade away. So frustrating. -

This seems to be becoming more of a debate on here which is fair enough. Simple fact is the midfield is a massive issue and the strikers/forwards ain't putting the chances we do create in the back of the net. Overall assessment, get 2 new midfielders and a new striker. They are not mutually exclusive. -
Saw a post somewhere, maybe on here about what a disadvantage it is for this massive encouragement to play football "the right way" and that it just feeds into the hands of the bigger clubs. In a nutshell the bigger clubs can get the best players at playing it out from the back. If all or most teams start to take this approach they will simple get outplayed and lose. It will keep the bigger clubs successfup and on top. You need a division with 20 differents styles or at least 10-12. There were times last night where we had a throw in and all I was thinking was "launch it into the fucking box". It's unpredictable and causes all sorts of problems but instead we throw it short and end up back in our own half 2 passes later as opposed to in their box with 2 centre halves and 3 strikers looking to get on the end of it with a couple of midfielders looking to pick up the loose balls.

Very well drilled and committed. Got them a very long way.
-
Well that's depressing for a team in the top 6 since February 21st of there abouts.
-
Because it was obvious. Could sense it before Norwich,Hudds and last night. Manager is naive and the players aren't up to it when the chips are down.
-
In alot of games pal. There is alot of unconvincing wins and alot of damning soul destroying defeats. Why people think he will go onto bigger and better things is beyond me. I can't see him being a success in England in the long run.

Think it was Lee Hendrie or another pundit last night who rightly shut down JDTs post match comments about "no one expected us to be up here, we are not expected to be given our financial situation" or something to that affect. Hendrie pointed out we are no worse off than the likes of Millwall or Luton. It's a drum JDTs has banged this season, it's not a case of taking pressure off, it's sending a message of "we are lucky to be where we are" and lowering expectations and not having a positive affect on the players. "Don't worry lads we shouldn't be near the dizzy heights of 6th, just keep passing it about and stick to my total football plan"
-
Not sure that is PC these days 😂 but he is Chris Iwelumo. Seems quite likeable and has common sense.
-
Seeing it slip away with lackluster displays is hard to stomach. Saying that if prefer this season to mid table or even in danger of the drop.
-
Ah he has been very poor/unaffectionate the last while. Even if he has been better than Travis this season it's not exactly glowing praise. Our midfield is weak. Need to just play A Wharton from now on.
-
How fucked up the mood around here as we currently sit in 6th. That's not down to being ungrateful or greedy. It's purely a unique feeling being a rovers fan. Feeling deflated and a sense of inevitable failure.
-
No he wasn't the problem tonight but he wasn't scapegoated in recent games. He deserved the critism. Let's be fair.
-
Pickering, Ayala, Travis, Morton, Buckley, Gallagher and BBD all need replacing.
-
Tried to keep the faith with Sam Gallagher but yeah he is done. Needs moving on or purely used sparingly in future. Shame as thought he may kick on at some stage. It just isn't there.
-
We all do. Pretty grim.
-
All quite poor tonight but to go back to it. Sorry young Dolan you cost us 3 points tonight. Was not a difficult chance. JDT as culpable for his overall selection but no excuse to not score that chance tonight.
-
JDT hasn't a fucking clue how to change a game. Worst I have seen at mixing it up a bit. Dreadful.
-
We waste so much time passing it round at the back it leaves even less time for us to score when we do get it forward. It's extremely illogical. Need a goal but the ball spends more time in our half. Ridiculous.
-
Fuck shoot Travis!!!!
-
Fuck off Ben, looking all annoyed at being taken off, you were piss. End of.
-
Don't want to hear anyone say JDT knew what he was at all along if we actually manage to scrape a win because that simply is not the case. This is woeful whatever the result.
-
We are fucking awful in front of goal. Embarrassing.
