The thing is, I would like quick results, as I may not be around long enough to see a slow improvement.

Rigger, look at the youth that hasn’t featured in the first team squad yet, add them to those that have, add them to 3/4 quality signings and add it all to our now coaching/management structure.

I’d rather be us than any other bugger in Lancashire!

You’ve just basically assumed a load of reasons and decisions to justify an opinion.

You, I and all and sundry have no idea of the structure, the decision making or the rationale behind interview.

Just assuming the worst to pander to a developed dislike of someone who works at the club… bizarre in my book.

    An easy example - you say we “lost our top two candidates”;

    1. You have no evidence, only assumption that was the case.

    2. You don’t know why they (if even approached) decided to not take it up.

Taking “in the know” knowledge from BRFCS as gospel is ridiculous. If there’s anything this summer proves, that is it.

    An easy example - you say we “lost our top two candidates”;

    You’re incorrect, we didn’t.

The plan was always to carry out and screen initial applicants for First Team Coach, in addition to considering those fancied that may still have been contracted to clubs.

The plan was always to appoint a DOF and that they would then be part and instrumental in the final selection process of First Team Coach and backroom staff.

They are all in situ before pre-season starts in earnest, why is there a problem? (Rhetorical because for once, at long last, they’ve actually got it right! (iMO)

Spot on, I assume darrenrover had just come in from the pub  😀

I couldn't really care less about season ticket sales to be honest, Waggott pays them lip service only, his prices show he doesn't care and the owners don't care either.

Its always been the case that if the product on the pitch is worth supporting the fans will turn out, been that way since time immemorial at Ewood and will remain so long after we've all gone.

You’re right Gav (not the pub reference, how very dare you) but the product on the pitch comment, ambition off it but I do feel the owners care, so on that, we’ll have to agree to disagree.

Waggott, Fielder don’t get us but are starting to do!

Anyway, back to preparing my Marie Rose Sauce for next season, the brown bread is doing lovely in the bread maker and I’m growing Hearts of Romain in the garden…with a bit of luck I’ll get out to Morcambe Bay before the end of July to net the prawns, the vital ingredient!

Riversider 49 years, 21 out of 23 away games last season, amongst everyone else.

Anyone casting any adverse aspersions towards me, clearly don’t know me! I don’t always get everything right, who does but I know where my heart and mind is!💙🤍

I would be moving heaven and earth to get the on line portal working. There is no excuse for the mess that is and would not take much money to hire a proper IT expert to sort it.

I totally agree and as you’d expect IraC, I’ve made the point countless times.

If you direct all and sundry to use on line portals, you make bloody sure that they work flawlessly and are extremely user friendly.

If you suspect that they may not be, for whatever reason, then ensure that phone lines are adequately manned.

    Customer Service IS King!

You think we'll sell more than Burnley? Haven't they sold like 14k or something?

I dunno, have they? Really?…I don’t really care in honesty but just used it as a local comparison.

Check out that lots gates in The PL over the past 5/6 years, that should tell you all you need to know. (Has Pendle Hill been terraced yet to cope with demand?)

If we sell 10/12k Season Tickets, plus corporates/hospitality (I understand that currently totals in excess of 700), it’d be a fair result.

Sadly you can't change the past, only influence the future.

Building a trust, is going to be a long road, given what has gone before.

The scepticism is more than valid and understandable given the last 12 years

Many of the above is opinion based on how people feel and the number of false dawns.

Football is an emotional rollercoaster and many of our supporter base past and present are still hurting.

Forgiveness, is not an easy thing, given the systematic dismantling of one of the best run clubs in England.

Its 10 painful years since this club was in the premiership running on tight budgets but holding their own.

People will support and follow what they can see, what is tangible and most of all, what is transparent.

No-one wants anyone to fail, everyone wants the very best for Rovers, some willl take more convincing.

This week is a good week, hopefully we get 51 more over the next 12 months, which takes away the worry and concerns people have.

Respect is earnt, people dont take kindly to a post i saw on twitter this week demanding the supporters show their respect and gratefulness to Venkys.

I dont like text format communication on msg boards as some people will always read it the opposite as you meant it.

Its going to take time, building block by building block, its going to take leadership, but what it wont take right now is trust. Too much has gone on before which will be a barrier for some time.

The club has to learn much better to respect its customer base.

Throwing out comments of one town one club one community, which was the action groups slogan strangely, does not suddenly get everyone on board.

Words are cheap, actions are louder.

Words are cheap, actions are louder.

    Absolutely!

Quite clear to me that Broughton delivered our new coach to the club as the club was still dithering and had already driven others off.

List cut down to 3 and still buggering around.

If Broughton hadn't intervened we would have had another last-minute disaster such as Coyle.

You believe what you want, I believe that's the story.

You too believe what you want with respect.

The actual fact is the plan for 9 months has always been to appoint a DOF first this spring/summer and he be part of the final selection process for First Team Coach and backroom staff. It may appear to some to be an elongated process but everything is in place prior to players reporting back for pre-season and the summer transfer merry go round when everyone is back from holiday.

Pray tell…why has the selection process been described as “a fiasco” by some?

We are about to see ST sales at the level of some L2/non league clubs.

So logically as a top half Championship club, he’s failed and failed badly, and as he’s still here, so…

That’s just inaccurate and untrue Matty.

Granted, the platform for online ticket sales still doesn’t work as it should, that in itself is diabolical, I agree….feck knows why not, it should be an absolute priority!

Despite the demographics locally and the ‘cost of living crisis’, I get it all, I do believe that our season ticket sales for 22/23 will be the best in terms of numbers for many years and will be in excess of Burnley, North End, Blackpool, Wanderers and Wigan. It was forever thus!

Bloody hell Mowbrays only been gone a month and you're telling me the owners have wised up (after twelve years mind). How was Myers on the gravy train but the current incumbents aren't? If the owners had wised up we would have had more sensible pricing on season tickets and wouldn't be on the cusp of embarrassment.

You'll never change Tony, each to their own.

I'm telling you nowt btw, I wouldn't dream of doing that. Make your own mind up and that applies to everyone else too but think about it logically. Proof of the pudding etc (yeh, it may have taken 11 years for whatever reason but does that stigma remain for ever?....1960sque?)

And caused the resignation of Alan Myers who was embarrassed by the u-turn.

Lambert was/is as dour and lacking in imagination as Mowbray. Yes there has been a multitude of other cock ups too but hopefully lessons have been learned and we move on!

Alan Myers was just another on the gravy train, following a host of others.

It would appear the owners have wised up at long last!

There’s also people that get triggered by rumours, which are literally just that.

Yep, and what also needs to be considered is that if any potential candidate is already contracted to another club, then the first port of call is to their club in order to ask permission to talk to said candidate....it takes time because every man and his dog football related are currently 'on the beach'.

I just don’t believe you on the ‘always comply’ bit, especially at local away games.

A group of lads who have had ten pints and a bag of coke each aren’t going to sit down in an away end full of stood up folk just because of your magical cajoling techniques… perhaps you pick your battles 😏

Matt, One thing I'm not is a liar!

I'm sorry you've raised this previously. I can assure you that everyone I have ever asked , whether they be pissed up or coked up, whoever they are, to show respect, sit down or whatever.....they have done just that.

I pick no battles whatsoever, don't care tbh, I'm sorry you think that way. Respect is just that...Respect and everyone has it within them to recognise that, irrespective.

Or perhaps I may be a snake charmer 😉

...best away support in the league this season and only Boro (top) above us in the similar sized town stakes.

All regular travellers give yourselves a pat on the back a terrific effort especially given how the second half was relegation form.

Everybody kept the faith so it's a big middle finger to those who knock the support, i include some of our own fans and people outside and inside the club.

The young squad knows the score and they appreciate it.

    I wholeheartedly agree tomphil.

I've missed only one away game this season and that was Cardiff!

I get annoyed and aggravated at some of our young away support and their exuberant behaviour, some get up my nose. I accept that that is down to my age but also accept that I was young once. Whilst I didn't 'sniff' at all and don't condone it in any way shape or form (in fact I think it abhorrent), the only issue I have with our young travelling support is the lack of respect for others.

Rightly or wrongly, I will always talk to these young lads and cajole them to sit down for example if they are impeding the view of others that would prefer to sit. Almost without exception, they always comply and understand and never have I been confronted.

We have a growing and enthusiastic support amongst youngsters and it needs to be harnessed and encouraged to grow, (whilst being managed by us 'elder statesmen' who were young once in much tougher times!)

Bring it on in 22/23.....WE ARE The Rovers!!!

Good grief, I can't believe Im reading that!

As you know Nick, I have the utmost respect and admiration for the selfless work that you and your colleagues have put in for the last 12-18 months trying to point the Club gently in the right direction but I couldn't disagree more strongly with the above.

Firstly Im not sure how anyone can say we're in a better place now than before Mowbray was appointed with the Club (or rather the owners) another £100m in debt and half the first team departing for nothing in the summer.

Secondly he's acted like he's doing everyone a favour by being here in the latter part of his reign, and he is actually  extremely lucky that the owners seem to have been  of the view that a contract is a contract and that he's been allowed to see his out despite runs of desperately disappointing results season after season. So to praise his "devotion" is a bit of a stretch to put it mildly.

Thirdly, and I think this is the most important point which I think everyone is completely missing, presumably Mowbray's contract ends on the usual date of 30th of June. The owners are under no obligation whatsoever to enter into contract negotiations at any minimum period prior to this date. Of course if they wanted him to stay but but left it until the day before his contract expired they'd run the risk of him getting fed up of waiting and having made alternative arrangements elsewhere but that's the risk they take.

The point is even more pertinent when you consider that we only knew for absolute certain what our fate would be on Saturday evening. Of course the Club COULD have announced at the end of January he was leaving at the end of the season no matter what or COULD have given him a new contract back at the end of January when we were doing well. However I'm guessing that very few people would have wanted him to get a new deal if we missed out on the play offs, conversely the vast majority would have been in favour of him getting a new deal of some sort had he taken us up and those same people would have thought to announce his departure in January harsh in the extreme. I think waiting until our fate was clear was exactly the right and  common sense thing to do and imo Mowbray has jumped the gun and pre-empted the Club to get everyone feeling sorry for him. (I've been told he's made the unilateral decision to retire anyway although how true that is I don't know)

Imo he's played everyone, the owners, the supporters, and the media like an absolute fiddle.

    Simon,

I've answered you privately and personally.

I stand by what I said, in so much that as a club, Mowbray's impending departure should have been handled in a much more dignified manner than it would appear to have been the case.

I don't agree with much that has gone on with regards to how the club has generally been run, as well you know, despite the unerring and continued financial support from the owners, particularly during the pandemic when revenue/income was next to zero.

    I'll leave it there.

The more I think about it, the more I believe that Mowbray's demeanour, behaviour and attitude this season, as well as the post January collapse are all enveloped in the following belief. That famous Alan Hansen saying:

"You can't win anything with kids".

Mowbray has been the embodiment of that this season and for a time before. I suspect that if any of us were to put that to him privately he would agree with that philosophy.

Many of us don't agree that this Rovers side are just kids who are inexperienced. Yeah, there are young players here but not as young as is made out. However, Mowbray seems to genuinely see them that way and he doesn't believe these type of players are capable of winning promotion. "We need men out there" has been said by him more than once. But they cost money, money that Venky's won't provide. I think that's why he wasn't even thinking about promotion when we were up there, as much as that infuriates the lot of us.

January is largely on the owners for not stumping up the money that was required, although Mowbray should have got us at least one striker in on loan. In the absence of funds to spend on promotion winning players, he packed it in on the promotion front years ago, not only this January, and went with "developing" these lads instead. The owners not providing a reasonable transfer kitty, particularly when the situation calls for it, is a big problem and will continue to be a problem for the next manager, unless they have a change of heart.

The decision to not renew his deal (as it seems) is the correct one, but the way it has been handled is disgusting and not befitting of this football club. It shows up the owners, or should I say Balaji, for what he is. An uninterested, flash coward.

There's something quite sad about the way this has all ended, from falling away like we have to how Mowbray has been left in the dark, and this is coming from someone who has been massively against Mowbray in recent months. I stand by most of what I have said about him, apart from likening him to Kean. I will take that back, as despite some snide comments, he isn't anywhere near as bad as that rat really.

The most frustrating thing about all of this is that this lot are supposed to be billionaires. Money isn't an issue to them, yet they have no idea how to use it when it comes to Rovers. Nobody's asking for City or PSG style spending. Just spend on a good manager for once and be in with a chance of receiving £120m in return.

It will never sink in until the poisonous agents are removed from the equation though. That Boro bastard agent is trying to tell them "you don't need to spend big and risk bankruptcy", allegedly, and we're trying to tell them spend a reasonable amount on a manager and players in order to receive a £120m prize. It doesn't add up, does it?

    Absolutely 'half right':

Kids?.....there's a few already in the first team squad and some absolute corkers waiting to come on in the wings. Make absolute no mistake, this next couple of years could be Blackburn Rovers equivalent of Sir Alex Ferguson's 'class of '92", if managed correctly!

I've already said my thoughts on Mowbray.

Agents?......they are the absolute parasitical scum of the earth and the absolute dearth of professional football in England (IMO).

    `With reluctance, I fully agree.

It is what it is and it doesn't always need a sledgehammer to crack a nut!
