I would literally piss myself laughing if the pitch held up but the floodlights failed at about 75 minutes…. 😈
Flood lights is very apt here.

Well I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but I'm expecting a flood of goals tonight. We will sweep away the opposition and their hopes of getting anything from the game other than a damn good thrashing will have been flushed down the drain by half time. In the second half, the Rovers tide will once again be unstoppable and, unless another freak tropical monsoon hits Ewood Park like it did last Saturday, we'll be floating free of the relegation zone by 10:00 pm.
Hope all those going have a splashing time.
You’re puddled.

Looks highly likely to be off again this, but postponed rather than abandoned.
If all other fixtures in the area are on, it will put more spotlight on the club and added pressure hopefully.

VI is well and truly having a go now. This is from Radio Lancs / LT…..
Valerien Ismael says Blackburn Rovers must invest in Ewood Park's pitch after labelling the Sheffield Wednesday abandonment 'embarrassing'.
It is the second time this season that Rovers have been unable to complete a home fixture due to heavy rainfall. Understandably, the 36-year-old Ewood Park surface has come under scrutiny after the weekend.
Ismael has called on those in charge at Rovers to provide a clear plan of action to prevent any further issues. He believes money must be invested to provide peace of mind to staff, players and supporters.
"I am not the right person to give you an explanation," Ismael told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"Normally, it would be someone else here to explain what's happened. We have a lot of 'head of' in the club. Groundkeeping or someone from the board to give an explanation.
"I am like you, I'd like to understand. Like the players, like the fans. Why has this happened again? We were in a good position, especially when we spoke about creating something positive with the fans in home games after the Ipswich game.
"Now to be ahead, four points in two home games, would be great for us. Especially with a lot of games. Now we are sitting there with a situation that has happened again and I think everyone has the right to have some clarity, some guarantees, why has this happened again?
"What is the plan? Especially in the near future to make sure that money is invested to renew the pitch. It's as simple as that. I want guarantees I can do my job properly, the players need guarantees to do their job properly and the fans when they pay to see a game, they want to see a full 90 minutes and not have to go home with a big frustration.
"I am sitting here not knowing exactly what the next step is. It's not my job to explain that. Someone else has to stand up and show up and explain to the people why it's happened again."
Ismael conceded his is concerned whether Tuesday night's fixture with Oxford United will go ahead. Heavy rainfall has been forecast this week which is causing the head coach further concern.
"We have had no meetings," he continued.
"We had an explanation of what will happen the game in terms of rescheduling the game. It's another game on the schedule, another load for the players.
"My problem is this is happening again since Ipswich. I want a clear plan, clarity as to what the problem is and what the plan is. 'We can't renew the pitch now but in the summer we'll invest but this is the solution'. This is what is missing: a clear plan.
"It will happen again. If you see tomorrow, we see the forecast. The weather won't be nice. We don't know and that's terrible.
"It's pressure on your mind to see it's a home game, a rainy day and you don't know what will happen. It's a long-term issue which we have to think about.
"We need clarity. The players, the staff, the fans, the EFL. Everyone needs a reliable answer to make sure this embarrassing situation can't carry on."
Remarkably, Ismael even said he would sacrifice money to spend in the transfer market to ensure the Ewood Park pitch is rectified.
"I think it's an emergency call now.
"This is something we can control. You can't control the weather but you can renew the pitch. It's something you can control. It was a problem before me, it's a problem now and I hope it won't be a problem in the future anymore.
"If I can do anything to help, I will do it. If I can influence it, if we have to save money in the transfer market to add money to get a new pitch, I'd be the first person to do it. If I have to sacrifice that for the better of the club and the pitch, I will do it.
"I want to see everyone happy. Fans coming into the stadium and seeing the game until the end. I want to see my players getting their reward throughout the 90 minutes.
"If it's something I can do, I'll do it. We need a clear plan on the table for everyone to follow and understand."This is the first time, I have heard anything from him, that I respect and fait play to him.
Over to you Suhail

It’s the ‘rainy season’, so very silly of the EFL to schedule matches at this time, bit like when the ICC try and arrange cricket in the middle of West Indies hurricanes or Bangladesh monsoon seasons.
It's all John Ketley's fault.

Any idea what years this was done and what the cost was?
It would be good to embarrass Pasha and the owners with a copy of this being sent and a breakdown of the price.
Maybe even offer to crowdfund it, as a way of really bringing it to the attention of the press.

I did have a look at going today but they play out in the back of beyond near Emley Moor and I don't drive so that put paid to that. Hopefully get to see them at Stockport in January.
At least their matches are not being abandoned.

The Oxford game might be a bit too soon, but what about a rubber duck infestation of the pitch?
Given this pitch problem has hit the headlines, it feels like an opportunity to raise awareness that we should not pass up.
Looks like we could get around 3,000 for around £350

It’s a perfect opportunity now that this has hit the headline with the waterlogged pitch.
Everyone takes a small rubber duck into the ground and throws them onto the pitch.

Your time has come Val , resign and leave with your head held high !
3 managers walking in 2 years .
Venkys unfit for purpose !
I don’t think he would do it for one minute, but imagine him resigning and claiming for constructive dismissal, on the basis that the club, can’t provide the tools for him to do the job (knackered drains) so he can’t work under these circumstances any longer.

This lot think they are smart and clever but they are actually thick and are exposing themselves. Let them carry on, it's only a matter of time.
The truth always wins in the end and I think that's what we are seeing taking place now.
It’s always someone else’s fault, so who do they blame this time?
What are the odds on this happening again this season and next time, if we are losing instead of winning, are the team on the receiving end, going to just accept their lot?

They haven't, for all the reasons I outlined.
Okay, I will give you a scenario, hypothetical granted, but not beyond all realms of possibility.
Let’s choose Middlesbrough as an example. They are leading 0-2 and the same happens again, so due to our lack of investment on our pitch, the match gets abandoned and a replay is ordered that we go on to win, costing them 3 points, which in turn, costs them a place in the premier league.
Do you think they should just shrug their shoulders and sit back and count the cost, of them missing out on the premier league?

We've already punished ourselves by losing possibly up to 5 points, getting injuries unnecessarily, bookings to count towards suspensions unnecessarily, national embarassment and having to play 2 more league games this season than nearly everyone (except Ipswich and Sheff W, for who it's only one more).
Talk of any further punishment is daft.
I honestly do not believe talk of further punishment is daft. It’s the clubs fault alone this, so why should they get away with it?

If the EFL have anything about them, they will force Rovers to refund home and away fans the ticket price, travel costs and any other out of pocket expenses.
To ignore this and allow the club to get away Scot free is not good enough.

I know it’s my own club, but a points deduction is needed here.
Professional tier two club who can’t provide a suitable pitch, need to be made an example of.
I only hope this leaves the owners with the embarrassment for the cost cutting.

Can I echo Penwortham Blue's comments Carl.
I read about this in the local media. What a tragic story and pointless waste of a young life.
I hope all goes well tomorrow mate.
Cheers Tony and for everyone else’s messages.
Tomorrow will probably be the toughest day of my life, so the messages and out pouring will help.

Carl, this is a huge shock to me. I knew Luke - only to a 'I know his face' level - I have hired him previously for photo shoots. A devastating loss.
Hi Josh. I didn’t know you knew Luke, but it’s amazing who does.
The tributes have been overwhelming.
Hope the applause can be heard for him at Ewood tomorrow

Tomorrow the funeral take place on my late Stepson Luke Harden, who sadly last his life in tragic circumstances, in the early hours of 01/11/2025.
Although, not a huge football fan, or a Rovers fan, the first outing I had with Luke, was to a Rovers match on Boxing day 2003 having met his Mum and my future wife a few weeks earlier.
Luke is seen up and down the country, at football grounds, as he was a model and amongst other things, he modelled Marc Darcy Suits, who have an association with WBA and Leicester City, amongst others.
It would give me and my family (a few Rovers fans amongst us) great comfort, if a round of applause could be arranged on the 37th minute, to mark his age when he passed.
Living in Spain, I watch most of the Rovers matches on Rovers TV as I pay the overseas subscription, but will not be either watching on TV or at the ground tomorrow, as the funeral and wake, will go on later into the evening.
I will watch the match back, at a later date and would really appreciate any little tribute to him if that is possible.
Hopefully we will win the game and I can raise a glass to Luke and a Rovers Victory.
RIP Luke, you are sadly missed.
