  1. How was Chocolate Starfish their sell out album? What Radaghast said
  2. I forgot about the appearance fee per match, I didn't realise it was as high that. It's certainly not TV money that is creating the gap between the top clubs and the rest though.
  3. I wasn't questioning that bit, I know the higher you finish the more money you get (£500k per place I think), but that's prize money and different from the TV money. The TV money is shared out at the start of the season. When ITV Digital went bust, each Division One club lost the same amount.
  4. Are you sure that information is right? I'm 90% sure that TV money is distributed equally between the 20 clubs.
  5. Yeah, and good results over the next 10 days and we could be top half, what's your point? Do we really look like we're capable of that though? No, we don't. I would say only Wolves are worse than us, the other teams on a par with us ability wise (Leeds, Leicester, Portsmouth etc) are battling in every game and we are not matching those teams for effort.
  6. Stop playing Yorke is the answer to our problems. And sort out the back four to protect Friedel a little bit at least. My defence: Neill Taylor Short/Babbel Gresko/Babbel You'd play Babbel left back, and have Tiny starting
  7. Hmmmm I guess you never heard their earlier albums? Chocolate Starfish was the sell-out album, their earlier ones were listenable...just.
  8. For those of you who like The Strokes or similar give Franz Ferdinand a listen, particularly Take Me Out. One of the best songs I have heard in a while, although it's a bit of a pig to find if you are trying to download it. Well worth it though, get looking now!
  9. I was told by Bellamy11 and T4E that they said beacuse they write their own songs, they are a rock band. What a load of crap, they're pop #### and the sooner they disappear the better. If they are a rock band then let them play the Leeds festival or next years Download festival, if they are really serious then let them appear at the Bulldog Bash. It will be worth going just to chuck bottles of p1ss at them. It'd be daphene and celeste all over again. Heaven knows what idiot thought they'd be a good addition to the Reading and Leeds bill. I nearly managed to hit the guitarist from Staind on the head with a bottle at Leeds this year...unfortunately he saw it coming and stepped to the side. It wasn't filled with @#/? though...just an empty bottle. I did have some stuff lined up for Good Charlotte but I ended up watching or doing something else.
  10. I don't think this Leeds situation is anywhere near as stupid as the situation Dundee have worked themselves into. At least with Leeds there was a chance it could work, it all fell apart the year they finished 5th under O'Leary and missed out on £20 mil Champions League money. How Dundee figured they could keep all the players they were bringing in I have no idea.
  11. I don't agree with the retirement bit, basically it would be saying 'Ok, you're over the hill now, we can finally recognise your achievement'. As a manager he has done more for English sport than anyone in the last 37 years. I suppose it's Ok for Bobby Robson getting knighted because he doesn't feel like retiring at 70, or Ferguson for winning Championships at club level, but not Clive eh I'm glad someone brought this up as I was going to mention something about it, although my stance is the complete opposite of this post. Whether someone follows the sport or not, they are supporting their country. Anybody who tries to make people feel out of place for showing national pride should be ashamed of themselves. I'm not suggesting you are this type of person, but using the collective phrase 'non-supporters' for people who don't particularly follow club football but want their country to succeed leads me to believe you may well be...
  12. Get it right... He didn't get rid of Berg, Berg got rid of himself by refusing a contract extension. Souness chose to get rid of Berg. Forget what happened previously, at the end of the season Berg wanted a new contract but Souness didn't give him one. Anybody who twists it to make it sound like we had no choice is blindly defending a mistake made in the summer.
  13. I want Souness to stay but that is the only good suggestion of a replacement that I've seen on this board.
  14. And just who would you replace him with? That Scottish fella that has won the third division and is doing well in the second? He must be one hell of a manager!
  15. Kluivert for Rovers :'> Seriously though, there isn't a better manager available anywhere in the country which is why Spurs look like there going to have to settle for Pleat. I'd be extremely surpised if the club were to gamble our Premiership future on an un-proven manager like Paul Sturrock, Paul Hart or Ronnie Moore. As for the left wing position, Andy Reid has an interview printed in a few papers today saying that he never wants to leave Forest and wants to get promoted with them. I know a lot of people say this then move but it did seem a bit more geniune the the old 'I love the club' drivel. As far as I can see De Pedro is the best option if he is still available for £2 million.
  16. It doesn't really have anything to do with righteousness or whatever, just thought it could help stop a few suspensions. Wenger is considered a great manager but not at keeping discipline on the pitch, I think he gets more stick than anyone. But it was funny how he got a good view of that incident but never sees anything his players do :'>
  17. Good point, not something that many of us have considered. He refused to criticise Lucas and is still make his feelings known on the Cole incident, instead he keeps hiding behind comments such as 'the general feeling is...'. Strange comments from a man who is not afraid to say what he feels His analysis of the formation and general frustrations of being a Rovers fan at present are spot on too. Fecking nitpicking omniscient yahoo's, you are really. Just how many times have you EVER heard a manager come out and say anything against his player in a situation like that. He copped to Neill's sending off being righteous isn't that enough for you perfectionists. What next, sack him cos he shaved his tash, sack him cos he ties the wrong shoelace first or pulls the wrong trouser leg on first. Ridiculous. Like the earlier poster said, he does you whine, he doesn't you whine. What the hell kind of post is that? I have never once said we should sack Souness, not on that post or any other. What I said was merely based on the fact that we don't have a great discipline record and maybe Souness publicly condemning silly suspensions now and again might help things instead of adpoting the Wenger 'I didn't see anything' approach. If you want to assume the rest about my thoughts so that you can write childish replies about Souness' tash, leg or any other body part you care to mention then go ahead.

Strange comments from a man who is not afraid to say what he feels His analysis of the formation and general frustrations of being a Rovers fan at present are spot on too. Heck, Souness cant win can he. He doesnt criticise Neill or Cole in public, he gets criticised. He criticises Dunn in public and he gets criticised. Its called man management, never criticise staff in public or in front of other members of staff, untill it gets to the point where that member of staff is taking liberties that affects your control of the remainder of employees and the image of the company. I don't think anyone would have a problem with it if we had a good disciplinary record as happens with Man U (as den pointed out about Fergie) But if my memory serves me correct we were very near the bottom, if not bottom itself, of the discipline league last season. We've already had 3 red cards this season so we can't be fairing too well this year either. Also looks like Ferguson will get a ban for his elbow leading up to the incident on Saturday. Two potential bans due to lack of discipline...

  20. I don't blame him for trying to change things, but 4-5-1 was all wrong...most people on this board didn't need hindsight because as soon as the Charlton team sheet was handed in people were complaining about it. Basically we can't defend at the moment, so limiting our attack was just going to make things worse.
  21. No. There were no chants against Souness so no, you didn't miss them. There were chants of 'Souness for Tottenham' towards the end of the game (although that could have been from away fans) FOR F SAKE IT WAS THE CHARLTON FANS SINGING IT ,CANT BELIEVE THE STATE THIS BOARDS BECOMING I MAY JOIN THE OFFICIAL BOARD YOU GET MORE SENSE THAN ON HERE AT THE MOMENT. I did say it might have been the away fans didn't I ?

  23. Of course we would, but we don't have Owen, Hyypia, Gerrard, Kewell etc... If Souness goes it will be to go to Spurs, he won't be sacked and he will leave because of the stupid chants that followed last night. I hope those people will be happy when Howard Wilkinson, Glenn Hoddle or George Graham takes us into division one.
  24. My faith in Souey is dropping slightly but we have to keep him because no-one else around is better. Are you seriously suggesting we should risk the future of the club in an unproven manager? You can point to Moyes all you like but dont forget all those other managers who don't make the step up succesfully. Having said that, Souness has blown a lot of money. £13 million or whatever it is and we still need a striker or two, a left midfielder and possibly a young centre back. He has also adopted the Gerard Houllier style attack - where you have no width, play people on the wrong side and become boring to watch.
  25. The Darkness don't offer anything revolutionary in music terms, but I think they collect all the best bits of rock and also bring back some of the things that have been missing. Anybody labelling them as a 'comedy act' or whatever is being unfair - musically they are very gifted - good riffs, proper guitar solos, the singing is exceptional and as a live act they are awesome - I was blown away by how good they were. Can't wait for The Strokes' new album either, could possibly the THE album of the year.
