  1. That is the one thing we can be grateful to Souness for: he jumped the sinking ship so early in the season that Hughes has plenty of time to turn the club around.

It's going to be quite a test for young Mark. Even with the poor and demoralised squad of players bequeathed to him by Souness, he will be expected to provide instant results.

I, for one, however, will not be turning against him. It was a brave decision by the board to appoint Hughes when other, more experienced candidates were available, but I think they have got the right man.

and here is the other one for you Tony D.

  2. I voted yes.I hope,as we all do, that Sparky produces the goods for us.Moreover,I would that this appointment would unify all the disparate groups/factions of Rovers supporters.(Fat chance huh?)

It is quite simple really :we all want success.(It's just different people define success differently)Here is hoping for a long and distiguished career for Sparky in his tenure for us.

    Up the Rovers!

  3. What will it take to be a fair crack of the whip on judging Matty's ability to "cut it" again at this level?3 games starting?5 games starting?half time sub for 4 straight games?I don't know.I guess in the end we all want him to come good again like we have seen him in the past.

  4. I hate this because I feel like we will be back in the relegation scrap that we just managed to survive last season.(It really takes a toll on our collective nerves, stomachs, etc.)I don't see how not having Cole and not replacing with a similar striker(and don't tell me dickov, please) is good for us to thrive and succeed. It is definitely a shorter leash that Souness will find himself on i feel.

  5. Thanks all for your responses.A bit of a trip down memory lane(albeit not the best of memories ...Carsley and Wilcox??)While the remininscing is going on,does anyone remember their being any wailing and gnashing of teeth to have any of said Captains being replaced a la Ferguson over Flitty?

    I don't.Cheers

  6. I struggle to see how it can be said that without Andy Todd we would have gone down.If you look at his 11 appearances he made for the club from Jan 2004 onwards,we lost 7 of them(with two also being draws). In fact from October 2003(which was after his loan return from burnley) and until the end of the season,he made a total of 21 appearances and again we lost 13 of those games(with 3 draws and 5 wins).I believe it a stretch to say we would have gone down without Andy Todd.A better statement would be we almost went down with Andy Todd, who left us in our hour of need due to an ill advised response to bad news.I believe we will be fortunate indeed to recoup our investment in this fellow.
