Rovers 4
NZ 1

Shillitto, - Rovers have sold their best players ever since I began watching them. Pickering, Newton, England, Duff, Shearer all went along with a host of other top players.
It was always thought that the money recieved would strengthen the team.
IT NEVER DID. IT NEVER WILL.
Think you are spot on there Den.
-
A very good example there shillito15, using Arsenal to prove a point. But, IMO Arsenal are the exception rather then the rule regarding selling your best players for a high fee, while replacing them with cheeper players who might turn out to be stars one day.
Just my opinion.
(awaits a "sod off","stupid retard", "You numpty", "you idiot", kind a answer)

Listening to that interview, its clear from Nelsens voice and answers, something is happening, either he wants to go, or rovers are willing to sell.
A real shame, and it looks like its all about the money (well, when isn't it?).
But, Nelsen has two years left of his current contract I believe, so Rovers are in a solid position. If we want him to stay, he will stay no doubt about that.

He found his first team opportunities restricted last term, making just four league starts, but Hughes is keen to retain the former Bafana Bafana skipper

Sad for us but that is what you get when buying players from the other side of the world..

IMO people are just too optimistc (if that's possible) regarding McCarthy and where we will finish this season. Granted McCarthy has proven that he can score goals, but there is no way we should expect him to bang in 15-20 goals in his first year in the PL?!
To be realistic i reckon Benni will score somewhere around 10-12 goals in the Premier League, I also reckon Roberts should score around 10. They will also get some goals in the UFEA/FA/League - cup, so around 20 goals in total for McCarthy I would think.
Some people are in for a real let-down if they think McCarthy will be among the top 3 scores in the Prem, while we wrap up 4th spot in the league with a total of 70+ points.. It just aint gonna happen, I'll be waiting for the old "we are crap, we will go down..etc" when we lose our first game against pompey.

McCarthy snub Chelsea for Blackburn
Its in the daily-rubbish, but if those quotes are real, great!
-
Last I had was with Ferguson on the back..
-
For the record Kuqi has proven very good value for money. He did score 6-8 goals in the PL didn't he?
-
with our starting XI today I wouldn't care so much about the result, cleary hughes is just giving some fringe players a chance in this one..
-
Great interview with Benni on the official site, seems like a nice guy. Not an arrogant ###### like Mido..
-
It might be fun to see what they're saying on the West Ham boards today.
They think we are getting relegated and Hughes getting the sack..

Just for tasters...lmaooooooooooooo

But Porto pulled out of the negotiations on Wednesday saying that they wanted more than West Ham's offer of a club-record US$11 million.
So his transfer value has gone down by more than 50% in eleven months..
-
Once we moved for McCarthy things where done quite fast. This proves that the player really wants to move to Blackburn, and thats a good thing!
We can now calm down a bit as the striker situation looks alot better now than a few weeks ago. I expect one more signing before the start of the season, might well be a midfielder.
Happy days!

Joe Garner get a tip as one of 10 to watch from the Premier website
I would be shocked to see him this year at the senior level
The Blackburn-born striker has been a prolific goalscorer at every level he has played at and has worked his way up the age-level England sides. Will be looking to advance into the first team next season in what are exciting times at Ewood ParkWith Roberts/McCarthy(soon i hope)/Kuqi/Jeffers/Derbyshire/Gallagher/Bentley I don't expect to see much of young Garner. Would be nice if he could get a chance in the League Cup though..

As Gamst is his mother's name and Pedersen his father's is this a Norwegian naming thing* or is that his mother chose not to take her husband's surname when they married?
i.e Do Norwegians use both parents surnames in this way?
If you want you can take your mother and your father's surename. And when you get married you can also take your wife's surename.
And if your wife also has her mother and father's surename in her name, well then you are one lucky boy with 4 surenames! Or am I wrong..
-
His song wont sound to good now:
"Morten Gamst.
tralalalala
Morten Gamst.
tralalalalalalalalala"

As Peter is left footed wouldn't it make more sense to move MGP to the right?
MGP has proven himself on the left. Peter is still young and I'm sure he can learn to play on the right even if left footed. Of course if MGP can play better on the right, then use him there. The point I was trying to make was that I would like to see them both playing.
-
For the people watching the game, how did Peter do, and did he play on the right?
I've always been impressed with Sergio, would be great if we could have him on the right and MGP on the left.
-
If the £5m fee is to be believed then I'm a little sad we didn't try getting him. Surely he would choose us over Newcastle. It is always room for quality players like Duff.
-
cant see us signing any one from any italian team involved...people get to carried away on here...
Agree. The scandal in italy has will have no effect on our transfer dealings.

Jealousy is a sad, sad thing.
so is bragging about how high income and intelligence one got, which luxury hotels one is staying at and how much £££ it's possible to spend shopping at fansy designer stores....

Agree with R6, Mokoena haven't showed much since he joined. Maybe he's getting a new contract because he is best-mate with McCarthy..
