It's the main issue, has been since he signed.

His interview after the Stanley game suggested to me that he's on board. Most Interesting part for me was that he was putting the contract problems down to past mistakes.

I do quite like him, I'm just hoping that he was a Gestede signing,it would at least have a chance of working.

That might depend on your definition of working.

Rovers said they want a centre back signing

great point and one being completely overlooked by some.

Also Carter is 25 years old and is no longer a young player but someone who is experience at this level. He has 89 championship games.

his medical has shown some problems so he has gone back to Switzerland now whilst Rovers look further into the medical and the problems behind.

Probably could re-negotiation the fee we are paying and instead of paying the fee over 2 or 3 payments, make these clauses based on appearances and how he does here

To be fair, the club said they wanted a centre back and had offered Batth a contract at that time. My assumption was that if Batth didn't renew, we would want a replacement for him as well as another centre back. However the club have now said they aren't going to replace Batth.

Athleticism, confidence, Beats players, Good ball retention. Fingers crossed he can do it in the championshi I can get behind trying to find a few gems. As long as we can keep majority of championship experience in the starting 11

That's the key for me. Once we lose Travis or Tronstad out the first 11, it shows massively.

I check on this thread, about once a week.
It’s amazing how dire some of the predictions are - certain relegation, our 4 best players leaving, etc.

I’ve said it before, most of y’all were fans of the club years before I followed them, therefore, you know more about what’s going on behind the scenes, & what to expect. But, based on our strong finish, I can’t see relegation, not this season, anyway. Also, If our four best players leave, the club has managed to find players to play at this level.

I refuse to concede anything, until we at least go to the Hawthorn’s. let’s see who takes the pitch, before submitting to relegation.

I see this mentioned semi regularly and although I agree with the premise, there are 2 problems in the pipeline.

    1. We will replace players who leave with inferior players. I don't necessarily mean by design, more that the law of averages state if we don't increase transfer spend, we will replace with inferior players.

    2. If we have to keep replacing 3 or 4 of our best players every calendar year, then we aren't really building are we? At best we're rebuilding the sandcastle that a wave has just knocked down - knowing another wave will soon turn up.

    I'll start.

Absolute fucking joke. The one area where we probably should be looking at academy players (4th or 5th choice backup) and we are signing up a guy who was generally piss poor after being brought in off the Plymouth scrap heap.

It's because Trav or Tronstad are off and he's the replacement.

I have stated on here, before that we need to make a fans version of the 150th celebrations, as the clubs ideas so far have been pathetic. In some ways, they have already scored a huge own goal,, as those of us, who remember the centenary season, will be aware that the season 19/74/75 was celebrated that and won promotion from the old third division. There was a rallying cry, before that season started, from within the club, that we would go all out for promotion, which was achieved and one of the best seasons, I remember supporting the club.

Once the fixtures are announced, perhaps we can choose the home game closest to the date of the club being formed and maybe get some activities set up around that, such as inviting former players and maybe even getting a celebratory shirt, available from this and other sites, like the retro one that was marketed on here.

In the meantime, keep up, the brilliant work it would be an even bigger cause to celebrate the centenary, if we flush this lot out, once and for all.

Whatever great ideas the fans collectively come up with, the one thing that needs to happen, is for it to be blatantly obvious the clubs senior hierarchy had zero involvement. They're likely to try and claim some kind of involvement in anything positive.

Okay - thank you to everyone who has responded.

On the losses, I listen to the 'Price of Football' podcast and they have set out how even the best run Championship clubs (better run, bigger gates than us etc) still lose significant money - so whoever took over will need deep pockets to even standstill.

I don't need to repeat what other posters have already eloquently put, but to add to this.

My opinion is that if it was somewhat known Venkys are now willing sellers*, there'd be a queue out the door.

A founding member of the football league, the only town team to win the Premiership, six time FA Cup winners, league cup winners. Most teams in England with that heritage would cost much more than Rovers.

    * - appreciate that wouldn't happen.
