  1. It's amusing how everyone's going a bit over the top about Kings Of Leon and their number one single Sex On Fire. Okay it was a decent tune, but due to the sheer amount of times I've heard it it's now just become annoying. I'm sure this is the first time some people have even heard of KOL and they have the cheek to ask whether I've heard of 'this band called Kings Of Leon'. Well since they've released four albums and been around since 2003, of course I've bloody heard of them.

I do hate it when radio stations overplay a song it really does kill them.

  2. I'm a Libertines fan and obviously going to be slightly biased about Pete Doherty. Yes he is a drug user but you can't knock his musical ability just because of that. He also didn't ask to be in the tabloids every week, the reliabilty of some of the stories in there can be taken with a pinch of salt also.

Him and Carl Barat were undoubtly in my opinion a great songwriting duo. You'll struggle to find a better album this decade than Up The Bracket in my opinion. I agree since the Libs split up he's lost his way a bit and Babyshambles can be a bit medicore at times but still have that element of magic in there. Same goes for Dirty Pretty Things.

No doubt The Libertines influenced many bands that are around today unfornately most of them are depressingly boring and unoriginal. But then again there's bands like the Arctic Monekys who would probably have never existed without The Libertines.

You obviously going to like musical acts from your generation hence why some of you seem to hold this dislike. It's very unfair in my opinion to try and compare and contrast bands from different eras. The Libertines were great whilst they lasted but a real shame they split up at the height of their popularity.

  3. Hated the headline today in the LET.

Hughes: Why I had to leave Rovers.

He didn't have to do anything, it wasn't as if he was kicked out of the door or given no option in the matter. He went purely for the funds avaiable to spend at Man City but as we know money doesn't gurantee you success. Surely here at Rovers he'd just about built up a squad purely of his own players and was in good position to strengthen it further this summer, going to City he's going to have to start the progress all over again. I was at some point expecting him to leave in the future, but I thought it would be two or three seasons downline the line when either Chelsea or United came calling. But neve rwould I have expected him to jump ship to Citeh espeically with Sinatra ownership fiasco going on.

Be interesting to see how the fortunes of both ourself and City go over the next couple of seasons. Personally I can't see much changing, both teams will end up mid-table amongst the likes of Everton, Villa, Tottenham & Portsmouth. I can't see City breaking into the top four anytime soon unless something drasticially goes wrong at one of the 'big four'.

  4. MGMT were interesting, the set was both excellent and pretty awful in places, although the good moments definitely outnumbered the bad. The album stuff all sounded good but at times they veered towards prog rock a little too much and that 14 minute non-album song/jam towards the end was excruciating. Still, they are a very good live act and there were a lot of highlights in the set. Good to see a band getting up there and having a good time. Just need to rein in certain tendencies...

I've been after a song I heard a while back but didn't know whom it was or what the title was, only found out what it was today 'Time To Pretend - MGMT'. Brilliant song it is as well.

You could have told me. ;)

  5. True it iwas a pretty meaningless game compared to the others, then again so are the two that are on TV live tommorrow. (Arsenal/Everton and Liverpool/City)

We just seem to be on last every week unless were playing one of the 'big four' just don't watch MOTD. Just watch football first (with mute on because of the commentators) and then watch Goals On Sunday. Well that's what I do anyway.

  6. And in a competitive match, I'd agree. This was a friendly. They are, by definition, not competitive and players should have been reminded of this.

Exactly you didn't see any of the club team mates put a tackle on each other in the France/England game. Don't think Terry even lay a finger on Anelka.
