  1. There's a huge difference between being genuinely funny and taking a thread off topic (ala Sox & Bob) and trying to be a smart arse and taking a thread off topic (won't name names).

Private jokes lead to cliques, cliques lead to resentment, resentment leads to disillusionment, disillusionment leads to loss of posters. Perhaps some of those who indulge in this should be more conscious of this entropy?

However, there are a hell of a lot of po-faced posters, wind-up merchants and general bit-heads who post. Some obviously hold personal grudges against other members and pounce on every opportunity to score their little points.

(I must admit I certainly wander into all of the above criticisms at times.)

Difficulty in closed season - as others have mentioned - is that the number of crap posts isn't increased in absolute terms, but is in percentage terms and thus the board seems more overwhelmed by the dross.

  2. If Michelle is in the bedsit with me then I'm there

    Shut up chicken.

Another intelligent and lengthy post by T4E

Where's AESF when you need him, eh? He'd spend two thousand words explaining to lofty exactly how to remain silent and that chickens are 30% less likely to lay eggs in a Blair-led Britain. rolleyes.gif

  3. Go on lofty you're the people's hero! Btw you do realise that their isn't anyone called mod don't you?

Maybe he's confused and thinks I'm in charge?

That wouldn't be such a bad thing; my first act as Supreme Overlord of Everything would be to make SteB change his name to Horatio Clutterbuck III. No real reason for this, other than I think it suits him.

  4. a) It's yet another old player. What happens in a couple of years when he's past it (if he's not already)? We have to go and find someone else - we are just delaying the problem of finding a decent left midfielder - not solving it..

So what age exactly is acceptable? And how long does someone have to be in place to stop it being just a temporary solution? "We've signed Larry Leftie who is 24 on an 8 year deal, but it's only a temporary solution."

Maybe Rovers should be investing in some Amazon expedition to find a fountain of youth so that we never get a temporary solution ever again?

  5. Granted amo coming back did help when we needed it, but frankly something had to make things better and personally it was more steads contribution than amo's.

If four good games over the course of a season make you a good player then even dwight yorke could scrape together four good games erm maybe.

Rven during those four games the guy is a liability, he cant turn, he cant run, he can mark occasionally when he remembers to, but worryingly has to rely on holding, pushing, blocking and bringing em down which over the course of a season will hurt us, even in those 4 games he was having to be bailed out lots by his partner and several times he had to resort to bringing people down when the ball was already beyond him.

four good games at the end doesnt really make up for 20 lousy ones at the start....

I take it you watched the matches on the radio. huh.gif

  6. £18,000 wouldnt be a 50% reduction in wages for Andy Cole I dont believe. Considerably less.

You're saying he's on less than £36,000 pw? What happened to the reports he was on about £42,000 when he signed? Are you getting mixed up with Yorke and his reported £35,000 + bonuses?

  7. cole to wba for 1.3 million ! Surprised ? baggies fans are up for him big style, most wanted player in amongst a poll for their suffeing fans ! blink.gif

There was something in the news this week that West Brom were considering smashing their wage structure by bringing in some player (I can't recall who) on a staggering £18,000 per week.

This raises the very obvious questions - if £18k 'smashes' their existing structure, exactly how are they able to offer Andy Cole? Would he take a 50%+ pay cut? Or would Rovers have to do a Leeds and carry on paying part of his wages?

  8. "MGP: I've spoken to Martin Andresen, and I've got the impression that Blackburn wants to buy me to play me."

Lets hope MGP hasn´t spoken to much with Martin Andresen, who has told Norwegian media that he is happy to be back in his club Stabæk because he otherwise soon would have been out of physical shape. He complains about lack of intensity on the training field and poor training performances in general...

Martin Andresson can go and boil his head mad.gif

That waste of space is just chomping on his sour grapes because he has realised that he cant hack it with the big boys in England for the second time of trying (Yes, I did just call Wimbledon big boys)

Who was it that said he was the foreign David Beckham laugh.gifbiggrin.gif

The same Martin Andresen who has been quoted several times as recommending Rovers to MGP?

  9. Renewals online?? Has anyone managed to do this? I've followed the links:

    Tickets

    Book on Line

    Select an Event

    2004/2005 Season Renewals

After getting to this point I have no further options available to me

    I'm shown as logged in.

Never managed to buy a ticket this way either

I did mine on-line last year and will almost certainly do so again, even though it's costing me £4.25 for the priviledge.

If the system knows your customer number and post code it should have your information on screen.

  10. they have reduced prices in the jw stand

jw outer darwen end. lower 320

jw outer darwen end. upper 350

I guess that it is actually blocks W01 (Lower Wing) and W07 (Upper Wing) because last year they were both £345 without loyalty discount, so ones down and the other is up (marginally). If it were to be the entire JW Outer Darwen End, it'd be a huge cut in the upper tier from £455 to £350.

Incidentally, has there been any mention in any of the information released so far as to the continuation of the loyalty discount?

  11. Anyone received a pack yet?

It's getting beyond the soddin' joke that at this rate we won't have received the application form before the start of June!

    Modi,

    So what?

The new season doesn't start until early August. There's another ten weeks to go.

    CALM DOWN

And what if you're away for a large chunk of the renewal period, including when the application pack arrives?

What will any potential season ticket buyers think when Rovers are the last club in the Premiership by far to issue packs?

Will the club be able to process 14,000 applications and get them out in advance of the season starting?

    It's just very shoddy.

  12. Not heard anything. All the Blackpool fans are saying they definately have a friendly against rovers again though.

It's hard to see when considering Rovers are in Germany until Saturday 24th at the earliest; Blackpool play Preston on Tuesday 27th (and Morecambe on Wednesday 28th); and Rovers play Preston on Saturday 31st.

The only available date would be mid week around Wed 4th, but the League starts the following weekend - do clubs play friendlys that close to the start of the season? It'd be good if they were pencilled in for then, but it seems unlikely.

As for Chester, could it be the reserves that are playing?

Isn't Huddersfield away meant to be on the cards?

  13. I still feel that there more fans out there who would love to come to games but are put off by the ticket mechanism at Ewood.

Is it totally out of the question that a cash only turnstile be started at the ground so that the casual supporter could come down pay his money and gain access without the performance of ringing up 4 days in advance to collect your ticket from an ice cream van parked next to Jack Walkers statue?

Will the introduction of a swipe card alienate the casual fan even more?

As a season ticket holder I applaud the club for freezing prices for next season, I just think the interest is there in so many more fans to come to matches.

There's very few matches were you can't buy tickets on the day; however, you do need to go to the ticket office to perform this task. Yep, it's a bit of bind if you're coming from the Darwen end, but from central Blackburn or Livesey Branch Road, you almost have to walk past it to get to any part of the ground.

For the non-season ticket holder, from what Glenn's said in another thread, there will still be tickets, but they will be read via technology and not have some couldn't-care-less youth reading the Sun ripping off a piece of the ticket.
