  1. Well last season, it was a boxing day clash, thus increasing the amount of away fans around 4,000ish? This yr i would expect around 3,000 from boro (they have an initial 1,800 with 1,200 extra if needed) which is a decent support considering their size of town. Id expect around 21k overall and a draw, 1-1 i reckon. Emerton for us, dont care for them!

  2. Wasn't it also wigans record attendance of about 20k?

Yep, the attendance for that game was 16,922 and you're probably about right with your estimate for how many Rovers fans were in the west stand that night.

I think we took around 6,500 to 7,000 Rovers fans. Considering there was only 17,000 crowd we made up almost half the supporters in that night. Continuing this away following thread, how many did we take to Manure in the league cup semi and Sheff wed semi?

  3. Looks like a maximum of 15000 then - which I reckon was fairly predictable . So why didn't they have tickets at half the price and fill the stadium ? Extra revenue at the beer and food counters would have made it a more viable proposition .

Surley there will be alot of fans from other clubs around Lancashire and Yorkshire paying on the day and boosting the croud. We dont need an embarrising eng u21 crowd to add to our 'poor support' press!!

  4. Thing is i bet that away end will be full. Also alot of the southern based rovers will still go as they can very rarely see rovers play.

    Still a rip off though.

something you seemed a bit ###### off with at charlton jordan! Heard you quite a few times questioning why there were so many 'cockneys' in the blackburn end!

Very short sighted comment as we need all the fans we can get. There are going to be a fair few older guys from the days when unemployment was high in Blackburn (1930's, post war and thatcher era) who moved down to London to find work. Most of the sons or grandsons from that time who grow up will be Rovers fans but also from London. A good mate of mine is actually in that exact position.

  5. the 2nd half we controlled and pressurised, perhaps summed up by the superb backing to players given by the noisy travelling Rovers fans

At which point one has to mention Martin from Bushy's (Ale of Man) who single handedly got the away end going (in the absence of the drum) by hammering on the side of the stand with his hand.

When I saw him in the Antigallican after the game, he appeared to have paid for this enthusiasm with either a fractured - or certainly extremely badly bruised - wrist.

But it did get the noise going.

Indeed Tris. Like I said after the match, my section of the away fans was excellent and that man at the side really got the crowd going. After the rubbish we saw in the first half and going a goal down early in the second, the rovers fans really spurred the team on and the team responded well. Excellent support guys.

Yeh i thought it was only 1 guy, fair play to him he really got us going, a great atmosphere from our fans in the 2nd half!! I cant imagine what his hand must have felt like on the tues afterwards, i just hope he used his wrong hand!! laugh.gif

  6. There seems to be an obvious pattern emerging here, all those who actually bothered going to the game are taking positives outa a game which was a reasonably good performance (esp 2nd half) whereas the others who watched it on sky have come out all negative, wink.gif . Moral of the story, get to the game!!

Anyway i thought we were much the better team and should have had at least a point out of it and probably all 3. The ball isn't just running for us at the moment, flitty hitting the post, charlton player clearing it off the line, centremeters away from amo's foot and having a blatant pen not given. In the 2nd half we controlled and pressurised, perhaps summed up by the superb backing to players given by the noisy travelling Rovers fans. All is not lost, we must pick ourselves up to beat villa on saturday tinykit.gif

P.S, have you ever seen a player suffering from lack of confidence more than J Stead at the mo?

  7. where  were you all before big jack?

Where were all football fans before uncle Jack? 15,000 at n'castle now 50,000,

not at all - I actually think the Geordies are the worst of the lot. Lived up there and they were all 'loyal' fans. On waiting lists and the full deal. I used to ask them where they were pre John Hall.

Now I could be wrong but I thought your championship season crowds were circa 28,000 whilst in the 99/00 season they were actually only around 19,500. If my figures are right thats a 30% drop - so no most of them haven't stayed.

Whats more you and I know that if you spend more than a year or 2 in Div 1 your crowds will drop further.

Its amazing this all started because I offered you Jensen - all be it a little tongue in cheek

Our average crowd when we won the tittle was 25,500, atually but the season after ie when the most glory hunters would have been we got 27,500 on, so i do take your point. However the point im trying to make is comparing us to other clubs our % knockdown from prem to div1 was actually very good. For example, for the average prem season Rovers attracted around 24/25K. On average over the 2 div1 seasons we averaged 20,000 (19,500 99/00 and 20,500 00/01) and if you compare that to 25,000 its not bad to only lose around 5,000 or 20% of your gate, due to relegation. Bolton had 16,000 in div1 in 00/01 yet average 27K now. Pompey 13K then, 20K now. In fact almost all clubs lose crowds when relegated and our loss must be one of the best. What im trying to say is why do you think we are the worst supporters of the lot? Most are far worst then us despite what you dingles say.

  8. where  were you all before big jack?

Where were all football fans before uncle Jack? 15,000 at n'castle now 50,000, 9,000 at chelsea now 42,000 yet you burnley fans think it is only rovers fans who picked up in the mid 90's. It was due to the time period and the state of English football and shouldnt crowds of 20,000 in div 1 (post Walker actually in the 00/01) show you that most of the Rovers fans from tittle winning days stayed loyal.

  9. winder away

at least we felt able to support our team without someone pumping 100's of millions in - something only a few regulars at deadwood can say today

The classic dingle, always seems to forget that we averaged 20,000 whilst finishing in the bottom half of div1 in 99/00. When have/when will Burnley ever get that crowd in the same division? Answer: NEVER

  10. Why are people getting so annoyed about the crowd that turned up? Its what i would usually expect for a game vs a oppostion either from london like palace or fulham or the south, like saints or pompey. I think its important to remember that against wba we have 23,500 on, with 4,000 from wba. It take into consideration the the 1,000 travelling pompey fans, hey presto its about the same crowd (in terms of rovers fans.)

  11. Shame we can't sack the fans (home).

Worst support in the Premiership by a country mile.

Ewood Park, generally known as The Library.

Atually no, liverpool, maure, n'caslte, saints, fulham and a number of other clubs have a quieter home support than us. We make a good noise in general esp when you consider we only have say 21,000 on instead of 42,000 at say chelsea.

  12. There a coupla postives which i have managed to drag from this dreadful result.

1.) Emerton was again superb, setting up 2 and scoring himself. He has been our player of the season so far, and im desperate for him to be fit for charlton

2.) MGP, played quite nicely and scored a good goal which should help his confidence.

3.) We didnt actually lose, we drew (boy am i clutching at straws)

4.) Jansen worked hard but should have scored

5.) It was a reserve team

As for the negatives, there are too many to list including how we managed to concede 3 goals to a league 1 team. If we played arsenal and scored 3 i wud expect a comfortable 3 points.
