  1. Ican't get to games because I work Saturdays, if I get a Saturday off I go. I finish work at 8 at nights and only sometimes can I get down to watch the first half of a games. Now I've been a Rovers fans for about 15 years. My brother has been one for at least 20, and my Dad for over 50 years, we don't go to game after game because we can't, work other commitments. etc etc. I will be at the Villa game because that co incides with my Sat off. But the reason that Rovers don't attract many fans is because 1) of boards like this when people do go who don't go often they get accused of being a part time supporter and get critisced for watching certain games. It shouldn't matter how long people have supported the club, whether it be one week, or 100 years, everybody should be welcomed and accepted. Secondle and as hard as it is for people on this board to accept. Blackburn Rovers aren't a trendy club anymore, yes in the Dalglish, Shearer days people came through the gates. Uncle Jack was piling money into the club and people wanted to watch Rovers play. In truth Blackburn will only have about 22,000= die hard fans, most can't get to all the games we play in. Half of those fans do nothing but slag the club off anyway, no matter what amount of success we have had, and maybe I'm in the wrong thread here, but quite a lot of Rovers fans, do think we are bigger than what we are!!!!!!!!
  2. Bit too sentimental Mrs J. Have you been reading too many weepies? The simple truth is that despite being given chance afterchance he has not performed well enough in training and in the reserves to convince the manager that he is worth his place. Do you not think GS would have loved to have a fully fit and capable Jansen when we were in last years relegation scrap? I'm damned sure he would. And even more so before we signed Stead. Criticise GS all you want but when a team is at the bottom of the table it is the managers neck on the block and not the players. As for dignified silences and plugging away until GS left?! I think GS treatment of MJ was brilliant. Souness never criticised him once but in public supported him totally. I have no doubt that he would have had the boards support in replacing him on the condition that he got rid first, but that never happened and tat can only have been Souness's decision. Bandwagon jumping to diss GS is very popular at the moment for very obvious reasons but even he does not deserve criticism for the way he treated MJ. To find out by reading in the newspaper that you can leave a club is not the best way to treat someone. Even in the last few days MJ has said that GS never spoke to him to tell him what the problem was. I really don't think that is treating anyone well. And as for dissing Souness, it miight sound like a lot of people are saying it, but I didn't like him when he first arrived. I thought he was arrogant and very self opinionated. Yes he won us promotion and the Worthington cup. But isn't that letting sentiment get in the way.?!?
  3. Maybe I am getting slightly carried away after Jansens goal, and matbe we have heard all this before after the Liverpool game but he was dropped after that,. Lets put a few things into perspective here.................Matt Jansen made one mistake, one thast could have cost him his life and maybe even his football career. In hindsight he shouldn't have done it. We all make mistakes. I bet he isn't the only footballer to get on a moped during a summer break, but because his ended in an accident evryone new about it. Look to this summer for example Souness allowed his players to travel from a hotel to their training ground on bikes only for Tugay to be the victim of a hit and run with Souness saying he won't allow anymore of his players again to ride a back. Does that not mean that he gave Matty permission, thankfully Tugay only ended up with cuts and bruises but he shouldn't have let him ride it in the first place. How would that have felt to Jansen. We are talking about a player who 2 years ago was still learning how to tye his shoe laces again. A ball was put to his feet and he didn't know what to do with it. He had to watch vids of himself to show what he could do. Then learn how to play football. The club stood by him, the truth is Matt Jansen has been phyisicallly fit for about a year, even by GS own admission, but he just hasn't had the confidence. Souness took that away by preffering to play Yorke up front instaed of him. Jnasen had not just lost the confidence in himself as a footballer, but as a person, after some home games the way his face used to light up when little kids ran over to him to ask for his autograph, becasure they still remembered who he was. When grown up supporters told him to keep the faith and never stop beleiving, it would give him some heart. The fact that he had to read in the papaer that he could look for another club because the manager coulsdn't be bothered to tell him to his face. Yet Matty just kept plugging away and kept a relatively dignified silence. He didn't go moaning to the F.A about being poorly treated or go roung arguing with the manager in training he kept quiet and plugged away, hoping that GS would leave rather than himself. Has anyone ever seen a player look so nervous coming onto a pitch as a sub before?! How many players shed a tear after scoring the winning goal, then saluting the Rovers fans because he truly appreciates them and realises that we have tried to give him back that faith. It may take a while for us to see the old Matty, and he may never be the same, he now has to think about how to do things, but there is still that magic there, that we will get to see. Thats what makes Saturday so sweet. The futures bright.
  4. How many people on here are now eating Humble pie, and saying they supported Matty's comeback. Maybe some of you should re read your posts.
  5. Does he normally read this board?!? However he did say that he was going to read the papers. He said he couldn't have got through these last few years without the support of the Rovers fans. Watching him celebrate and when he was coming off the pitch he was in tears. So was 19.000+ Rovers fans. I was again after reading what Matt said about us the fans. We love you Matt.
  6. Aye, I had a tear in my eye when he scored today as I never stopped believing.
  7. Ooops, that came out wrong. What did he do to show the appreciation to the fans?
  8. I've got one word for you: Matt Jansen is two words. Well done, Matty, well done. Thats Five!
  9. One word for Souness. Matt jansen. All those of little faith. He's back. So too are Rovers
  10. Does this mean now that a) we will get a penalty, we can handball into the net and it will still count and c) we will play for as long as Hughes says and not the fourth official/referee. I predict top six finish. Souness who?
  11. When did he sign? I went out for a couple of hours last night asked my dad when i got in about 9 he hadn't heard anything. Put SSN on and still nothing. W oke up this morning to find out he took over today. Still didn't make the headlines tho. C'mon Hughesy. Our season starts Sat. Well pleased.
  12. Dunny a playboy from Great Harwood - Now you're just making things up - He'll never leave Rovers Sadly I think he's going. He's having talks with Birmingham. Sounress has decided that Grabbi is a better prospect.
  13. No your all wrong, it's Kidd the new manager. And he is going to bring Grabbi with him as assistant.
  14. Yeah according to Souness he is a bit of a playboy! According to my sources in the club. It will be in tomorrows telegraph about Dunn. He eats too many pies apparently.
  15. I thought we had already interviewed him!?! So getting permission is nothing new.
  16. Typical Rovers. It takes Newcastle one week to get their new manager. It takes us a week and half to get permission to speak to someone.
  17. Just says Wales FA have given us permission to speak to Hughes.
  18. Even Radio Lancs haven't mentioned anything. It was headlines when Souness left.
  19. Whats everyone watching? I got Sky sports news on
  20. They said it was at 3.30. Is it Wales having the press conference. If so. why not Rovers. They won't do it live coz we r not any of the big clubs. Ill be surprised if we get the headlines.
  21. While I am crossing everything in the hope that it is Hughes, sorry to be so negative, but wasn't Venables set to take over at Newcastle the day before Souness was appointed. And in the press conference Freddy Shepard said ut was agents throwing names around. Itt would be nice if for a change Rovers have listened to fans. Imagine this. Hughes/Kidd partnership.
  22. I don't get why people want Dowie. His team are worse than us this season, yeas he got them promoted. But it doesn't mean anything if he gets us relegated.
