1. Really looking forward to the play-off draw friday. I can't really see us beating any of the other 2nd place teams though.. sad.gif

Hope we draw Turkey, but since the draw is going to be seeded I'm sure we are going to face the likes of Spain or the Czech Republic..

Don't kid yourself, we haven't got a prayer of reaching the finals. Doesn't matter who we draw in the playoffs.

  2. Rather harsh to question his attitude I think.

In his interview on Radio Rovers before the game, he stressed how happy he is to be playing first-team football and after his lack of opportunities at Arsenal is happy to play anywhere. Just because somebody doesn't charge around like Robbie Savage doesn't mean they are uninterested or lazy.

I actually thought he looked like the only player who would make something happen in the first half. It was dire but he tried to get hold of the game - went past a few players and had a couple of attempts from distance.

The boy has certainly got some talent. Our next 8 home games are all winnable - in those matches, I think he and Savage in the middle would complement each other nicely.

I agree, I don't think there's anything wrong with his attitude at all. However, he did seem much happier once he switched wings with Pedersen and got his chance on the left. That's when he started to run at the defence with more confidence and cut inside. I'm not sure how he'll do in the middle with Savage but he should be getting his chance there too. He's got a lot of talent and a lot of potential, it's just a case of getting it out there. Judging by the start he has made in the Rovers shirt so far, I hope he stays for next season too. But time will tell I guess..

  3. Mike Riley is a tosser  mad.gif

They scored their first from a free-kick that never was.. their second was a header from the smallest player on the pitch, and from where I was sat in the JW upper, their third was offside !!!

(waits to be shot down in flames)

What the f**k is this 4-5-1 at home all about?? Come on Hughes..... sort it out !!!!.. you wonder why attendances are falling at home? take a  good long hard look at today.. that should give some idea !!

    1. It was a free kick, Neill tried to jump through/on Owen.

    2. Don't think we can blame the ref for Nelsen not marking out Owen, can we?

    3. I'm sorry, but he was onside by at least a yard or two.

Riley wasn't great but the one thing I can fault him for was for not sending Taylor off earlier. He clearly held Bellamy back by his shirt while already on a yellow card. Holding should mean an automatic booking. Riley did send him off for this but only when they were 2-0 up.

  4. Thats your heart speaking not your brain mate. Kvisvik doesn't have anything to offer on this level Im afraid. He is way to slow both on and off the ball. Valencia on the other hand, can be very very good on his day, as he really can take the defenders on with real pace and technique...

    So Valencia eh?

    Pace and technique eh?

  5. Scotland are totally outplaying us at the moment. Basically, our management are idiots. They've not taken Scotland seriously at all and we are not in a position where we can allow ourselves to underestimate anyone. They have also fielded one of the worst midfields I have seen play for Norway in a good long time. Grindheim is the only one who comes away from that first half with any credit. They are playing people out of position, one of them cost us the first goal by not knowing how to play right back. Instead of playing Braathen who had a great game in Slovenia, they decide to play Egil Østenstad, who to his credit has had a good season in Norway, but he's retiring in 2-3 months and he hasn't played for Norway for 6 years. That's no accident. And I wonder when Hareide will start to understand that Martin Andresen isn't fit and hasn't been all season.

    What a shambles.

  6. I beg to differ, Valencia to me is far to inconsistant to be playing at this level. And he hasn't got that touch of class that MGP has to "save a crap game" like he did on Saturday.

I think Kvisvik has the class to be a very good player on international level. He is one of the best technical players in our league right now. His first touch is excellent, his vision is superb and his delivery is good. He's also very handy infront of goal. He should be in the squad.

  7. You could put Shevchenko and Adriano up front in this team, and they wouldn't get a sniff of the ball. No service = no goals.

    338786

    Absolutely.

During the first 30 mins in particular when we looked more in control, before West Ham gained their confidence in a new league, our final ball kept being mishit time after time, leaving Bellamy in particular to chase hopeless balls. After Savage's hopeless challange and yellow card, our midfield started to collaps and we saw the effect of this as the game went on. It went from decent to totally ineffective in the space of 15 mins.

As for Todd, I don't think he had too bad a game, apart from his mistake on Sheringham's goal. More than anything I think having Mokoena beside him instead of Nelsen unsettled him. Mokoena was terrible, pure and simple.

  8. I think Hughes may have something to answer for. He changed the formation to 4-5-1 from 4-4-2 when it was 1-1 and it worked so appallingly badly that he reverted back to 4-4-2 by taking Mokoena off.

    338759

The thing is, if you had seen the game even you would have seen that Hughes HAD to do what he did at that point because West Ham were running rings round us. They totally dominated our midfield and we needed an extra man in there to win that battle. Problem was that Mokoena had an absolute stinker. Reverting back to 4-4-2 was only natural as we needed to equalize.

The whole team was a shambles. Passing was terrible so hardly surprising that Bellamy was hardly seen. I'm really concerned about the lack of balance in midfield though. It's a case of back to the drawing board for Hughes I think and possibly another go in the transfer market.

  9. Henning Berg's FC Lyn (yes they actually managed to rename themselves that - we've never spelled club with a C in Norway before...) are doing alright as you said, not great though and they've had a lot of noise with the Obi Mikel stuff and also losing their goalie to Bolton.

Egil is playing very well for Viking and Roy Hodgson has made them a very solid team over the last few months. Hard to beat and defensivly very sound.
