  1. Ok, so having seen the release lists for the next few months I can say that I am extremely excited about this autumn and winter. Lots of really promising stuff is coming out in the coming months and I for one know that my wallet is going to suffer. I'll just have to make do without food or something...

Here are my picks for the next few months...

    Madden 07 - 28 August

    Saints Row - 1 September

Test Drive Unlimited - 8 September

    Dead Rising - 8 September

    Pro Evolution Soccer 6 - 20 October

Splinter Cell: Double Agent - 20 October

Gears of War - 17 November

    Call of Duty 3 - 17 November

    Superman Returns - 1 November/24 November?

Of these, I'm most excited about Madden, TDU, Dead Rising, PES 6, GoW and Superman Returns. Get on marketplace and download the Dead Rising demo, it's brilliant.

It's a great time for gamers now, what are you looking forward to?

  2. I think he charged up as much power from the sun as he could and gambled. He knew it would probably kill him but he was willing to make the sacrifice for the good of mankind, tying in to the overall themes of the movie.

I just saw it tonight and it was a lot of fun. Enjoyed the hell out of it to be honest. I am a big superhero fan, love the comics and love the movies...well...the good ones ;) As far as Superman goes, he's one of the lamest heros out there. Lame costume, too powerful, not flawed enough. But this movie was fun. Great action scenes, which is what you want. Great villain, played very well by Spacy. Sure the plot was silly, but I came out of the cinema feeling well entertained...and that's why you go in the first place :)

  3. I'm not sure if I'd have preferred Mido. Whilst the Egyptian's a more skilful player imo, he is a loose cannon and would surely not have lasted long (altho similar things were said about Bellamy).

Seeing as how he kept stalling it was pretty evident that he didn't want to come to Rovers.

So I'm glad the club pulled out of that particular deal.

As for Benni, I'm pleased with the signing. He should be good for 12 - 15 goals a season and with Roberts hopefully bagging 10 or so and MGP keeps getting his 10 or 12 we're looking good. I'm not expeting anything from Jeffers and will take anything from him as a huge bonus.

  4. Bad move by Duffer, probably also a bad move by Newcastle. Not because I think Duffer is a lost cause, but because the buyer is Newcastle - they pay too much, both salary and transferwise. They will never win anything with the current men in charge, and I like it. Good luck Duffer, but we will end above Newcastle next season!

See, the good thing about this is that he'll need to move somewhere to get his career going again after a few poor seasons up at Newcastle. Where's the best place to do this? That's right, back "home" at Rovers. For a bargain.

Just give it a few seasons ;)

  5. OK...I've got:

The Beatles - Stg Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967)

    Marvin Gaye - What's Going On? (1971)

    Joni Mitchell - Blue (1971)

The Clash - London Calling (1979)

The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses (1989)

    Radiohead - The Bends (1995)

    Michael Jackson - Thriller (1982)

I'm one of those who prefers "Revolver" to "Stg Pepper's" and I'm also a great fan of "Rubber Soul". "What's Going On" is one of my favorite albums ever, everyone should own it.

  6. That Zidane moment of madness left me lost for words. He's had a great world cup and it was looking like he would have a wonderful end to a great career....and he does something like that. You have to wonder what Materazzi said to him, but that was increadibly stupid...shocking. It'll taint his world cup.

I enjoyed the game, one of the better games of the tournament for me. Italy were slightly better in the first half and France were far better after the break. They would have deserved a victory in normal time really but it wasn't to be.

  7. Must admit, It's been very ordinary for me.

    If you're into diving,

    if you're into pettiness

    if you're into unsporting behaviour

Then this world cup has been one for you.

It has not been a world cup for football bliss.

    I totally agree with this.

Unsporting behaviour has come to a new level with this world cup and it has really taken the shine off the whole thing for me.

Cheating is something that seems to be rooted deeply in modern football (thanks FIFA...) and it is the one thing above all else, even the stupid amount of money around, that is killing the game.

    It needs to stop now.

  8. Whats the deal with the fifa presidency anyway? is it a four yearly election? or is he in until he decides otherwise? like a dictatorship?

Oh it's an election, not sure how often it comes around though. However, the whole federation is run by crooks and as long as Blatter wants to stay president...he'll stay president. Until someone catches the guy red handed, as USABlue said. Just recently saw a Panorama programme on the alleged corruption within FIFA...VERY interesting indeed.

  9. Next up are Lampard, Gerrard, and Carragher for missing penalties.

Lampard also gets the blame for being generally bloody awful throughout the tournament.

As for slating the portuguese, I agree with everything said against them. They have been disgraceful and not just against England. But they haven't been the only ones cheating. Personally, I'm getting fed up with the whole thing and it's ruining the game for me. During the last few years there's been more and more cheating going on and this tournament has been totally ruined by it for me. It's not just diving, it's general unsporting behaviour like faking injuries, influencing the referee and generally acting like pansies.

    I'm sick of it.

Look at the Tour de France....I know, say what you want about drugs and all, but the guys who are clean...THEY are true sportsmen. Look at Stuart O'Grady. He crashed a few days ago and fractured a disc in his back. Did he quit? No, he's still going. Look at footballers. A little kick and they are down, rolling about in "pain". Well sod them, stop playing the ball out so they can get "attention" and yellow card ANY player who goes down in "pain" only to come back a minute later perfectly fine.

    Cheats, the lot of them.
