So, who is getting Metal Gear Solid? After playing the Online Beta and watching Kojima talking about it, I'm completely sold.
EDIT: If you haven't played the other MGS games, go and buy the three of them for a tenner somewhere. If you play MGS4 without playing the others, you'll still enjoy it, but the storyline won't make as much sense.
MGS, storyline and sense.
Now there are three words you'd never think you'd see in the same sentence.

Played the Demo's of Iron Man and Echochrome today.
Iron Man - oh my word - awful. I thought the superman game was bad - this is on a par. Typical movie tie in and just thrown together to cash in - very poor.
It's actually no where near as awful as Superman. The flying takes a little getting used to but I found it quite enjoyable. It might get a bit repetitious though, but we'll have to see once the game hits what kind of missions we'll get. Nice little mini RPG element in there as well with the possibility of upgrading the armor. And Robert Downey Jr sounds on form doing the voice as well. It won't be groundbreaking by all means, but I'm pretty sure it won't be a train wreck like the Supes game.

Meh...
Played the Iron Man demo last night.
And it was quite enjoyable.

I'm going to see the Foo Fighters and Metallica this summer.
It...it's going to be glorious.

I most certainly can. If you're into the NFL, you need to play Madden. Superstar mode = tons of fun.
The new "weapons" system adds a new dimension to the gameplay as well. Although you should be aware perhaps, that the passing game seems harder in 08 in that a shutdown corner can really dominate down the field and so you need a big play receiver or an accurate QB to make plays happen through the air. I've also found that bouncing to the outside during a running play can be harder this time around because the defense is more apt at reading plays and linebackers are very quick to break through your O line (this of course is largely down to which team you choose to play as...) or just close you down before you can get up to speed. The emphasis is very much on reading your opponent and acting accordingly. Be prepared to audible quite a bit.

Gamst didn't do much but then again, Norway were really poor. Shocking pitch too really.
I agree with herbergeehh though, Koumas looked good. Best player out there tonight.

So they've put the European release of Rock Band back from March 6 to...Q2 - apparently some time in April at the earliest. The earliest!
This was my most anticipated game of the new year. I've been dying to play this for ages and was really excited that it was only a month or so away.
I'm extremely disappointed.

Hell yes!
My bro gave it to me for the PS2 and I loved it. Crazy, wacky Japanese game and concept but so much fun.
Rolling stuff up into a ball doesn't sound like fun...but damn it, it is!

With all the hype, that looks like an epic fail right there.
Not that I mind, I've not been buying into it at all and won't be itching it play.
BUT! All is not lost, Beautiful Katamari is out for the 360 on February 15th! Wohoo!

I know this genre may be droll to some of you but, do any of you remember the game engine that Sid Meyer made for Gettysburg and was later used on Waterloo Napoleons Final Battle? Is there any games like that coming out soon or are already out?
Can't say I now exactly what you're after but you may want to keep an eye out for Empire: Total War, which looks highly promising.

I'm actually most looking forward to Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway.
Looks like it's slipping under a lot of people's radar but everything I've seen from it looks fantastic.

About Assassins Creed?
What do you want to know?

Jim, He's also very quick to criticise his team mates. I play up top with a guy who's like that in our sunday league team. He's the best player on this pitch (24 goals in 6 games) but he's horrible to play alongside. We can have players unmarked clean through and he'll still try to take on 5 players and score himself, very annoying. He also has a go at team mates if they dont pass to him all the time, very similar to the sort of strops I've seen from Benni, He did it to Gamst a few times on Sunday, Gamst is obviously very very low on confidence at the moment and I'm guessing Benni having a go at him wont help.
To be fair to Benni, Gamst needs to learn to play the ball when others are open. Quite a few times on Sunday he tried to do things the really hard way instead of playing in his team mates. One time, he was clean through on the left with Benni in center. He could have set up Benni twice in that move but waited and waited and in the end took a shot when he was covered up.
A goal won't fix his game, and he shouldn't believe that himself.

Yeah, happened to me a while back. Frustrating but thankfully, Microsoft customer service was excellent and they handled everything really well. UPS picked up my broken console and delivered a new one to me about two weeks later. You hear stories about poor customer service but I had no hassle with them. And everything has been fine since.

I trust these guys, I'm excited!

It's quite good fun Eddie, the new "weapons system" seems to be working and the game is much harder. At least it feels that way. Much tougher to get going on offense, particularly going down field against shut down corners or getting the running game going against brick wall defenders.

Right...because I have other, more important things to do I have decided to use some time to make a list of upcoming games that I am interested in instead (take that research paper!). Some of them are definite buys for me, others are probable and maybes and others still are interesting at this point but might turn out to be buys. Anyone else want to chime in with their lists, feel free. Might be interesting...

Yeah that looks way to complicated. But also, surprisingly, it looks very cool.
I'm actually interested to see how this "be a pro" mode is going to work. I would totally get the game if that mode actually works. Superstar mode in Madden is brilliant, but playing different positions in NFL football is perhaps easier.

Saw Fantastic Four 2: Rise of The Silver Surfer the other night.
It was fun. It felt a bit unsettled though and some of the dialogue was...poor. But I enjoyed it.
On the whole, the FX looked amazing. The Silver Surfer looked awesome, he was a cool character too. It had nice touches in it, like the Fantasticar. Galactus worked fine in their version, and they had nods or homages to comic book Galactus in there too.
Oh and Jessica Alba looked amazingly hot. Really, really hot.

Has anybody played The Elder Scrolls on the X-box 360? I get very bored with shoot em ups and platform games and fancy something a bit different.
Yup, I got it when I got the console a year and a bit ago and I'm still playing it (on and off) and I'm still no where near done with it. There's hours and hours of gameplay in it and that's not counting the expansion packs you can download through marketplace. I haven't even got to those yet, but I probably will. If you want something a bit different, go for it. It's a very enjoyable game.

Just completed Splinter Cell: Double Agent (though it isn't technically a 'new' game). I thought it was good but I'm still gobsmacked that the developers have, after four attempts now, failed to iron out the kinks that have plagued the Splinter Cell series. From the sterile, crappy enemy AI to the pyro-effects straight from the PS2 and annoying first person view when holding a weapon, one would think that a platform as powerful as the 360 would support slicker, more innovative gameplay (which it clearly does with other titles).
You should keep an eye out for the next Splinter Cell, currently in development. Check out a few games sites for news on it, looks very interesting indeed.
I really enjoyed SC:DA, had a lot of fun with it and found it challenging enough. Decent game online too.

There's bugs and unpolished animations in a demo of a game that won't be out for months yet?
Surely not...
I'm not getting worried about this before it's released and the reviews come in with bad results. I can't WAIT for this game, should be awesome!

Yep. I have been getting more and more upset just thinking about it though. I paid £50 for this last monday and now what am I left with.
I have been so angry with it I wanted to write to Ubisoft but cant even find a mail address for them
If people want an excellent VERY SHORT shooter with a bad ending get this.
Dude, Terrorist Hunt mode and online play.
There is tons of value in the game apart from the main story line.

Just saw Indy tonight.
Great fun, quite a few classic Indy moments but it was also pretty silly towards the end. Pace was a bit off at times making it feel less like the classic Indy movies but still well worth a trip to the movies.
