If we are keeping Gallagher and now have McGuire, with Szmodics excelling up front thats leaves us sorted in striker roles.

The 37 year old defender is a real bizarre one. Must be one of the oldest  transfers for an outfield players ever at Championship level. I am assuming its just to provide experience till the end of the season.

Looking the squad probably the priorities now would be

    1. Keeper

    2. Left attacking full back / wing back

    3. Centre deep play maker midfielder

    The main concern is

Surely other than CM (once Wharton leaves) a pacey winger is #1?

Duncan McGuire is on his way to Manchester from Cancun ahead of signing for Blackburn Rovers. Final fee £2.35m and the USA international will spend the next 3.5 seasons at Ewood Park. Big signing for Jon Dahl Tomasson's side.

Does someone want to let Chris know just how fantastic we are at f*cking up signings?

    From the LT

"Another central midfielder isn't out of the question but depends on finances"

Bloody hell, we'll have generated a guaranteed £28m by the summer with the Raya fee included. That statement alone tells us where the money is going.

Firstly, why are they not spelling out the obvious to the fans? And second, why are most fans okay with it?!

Infuriating time to be a Rover.

There’s obviously been a shift in the clubs attitude over the last week or so. Despite assurances court delays wouldn’t impact the day to day funding of the club. The whole thing stinks of desperation on Rovers part.

Yep. No funding secured from India = Wharton pushed out. It really couldn't be any clearer.

Don't worry though, we'll be bringing in 4-5 quality players with the money.

Twitter rumours that he'll sign today. It's twitter though, so hopefully complete bollocks.

Why in god's name would we sign a 37 year old centre back but the owners refused to sign a 32 year old?

32 year old wanted a 2 year deal. Guessing this desperate chap will take a 1-year? Guess we'll soon find out.

If offloading Wharton to Palace 2 days before the deadline with almost zero prospect of any serious reinvestment wasn't a nauseating enough concept, just add into the equation the cartwheels Waggott will be doing in his office as he awaits the cheque coming in from Palace and his next meeting with the cretins in India.

It's hard enough to take and accept but knowing it makes life easier and better for Venkys and Waggott knocks me sick.

Yep. "You know how you can't get any funds across til the summer? Well guess what I've managed to do..."

I'll be firmly in the minority, but I'd much prefer this transfer goes tits up and the club goes into administration.

Adam knows the financial situation and probably feels some burden to leave and alleviate it. If you honestly believe that the money from Palace will be invested in the playing side then you must have been asleep for thirteen years. The wages can be paid now without approval from an Indian judge, the lights can stay on and the milkman paid.

I just had a short exchange with someone at the club and he basically said they’ve no clue what they’ll be allowed to spend of the Wharton money.

With circa 50 hours of the window left, that is hugely unsurprising, but still extremely alarming.

Someone fire up the dusty fax machine, bring in a proof reader, and adjust the clocks backwards at Ewood by an hour to give us the best chance of bringing in a player before the deadline.

And that's just for British based players! I genuinely cannot see our tin pot administration being able to bring in a chap from the states with 50(ish?) hours of the window remaining.

  9. There will need to have been a huge change in stance from Venky's if we're bringing in Liam Cooper.
Resale value or loans only was the "brief" in the summer.

Edit: I see above that it may be a loan.

If Phillips has chosen Cardiff ahead of us, then that really is a sign of the times - especially given our location advantage.

Or a chance for a massive pay rise whilst having a realistic chance of a decent amount of Premier League football alongside some other really talented young players. Rather than staying here in a team treading water in the bottom half of the Championship whose owners have gone AWOL.

I said it the other day, but Olise is a shoe in for a huge move. Eze v likely too. That's their last two signings from the Champ.
Wharton will likely go the same way if he keeps his head down in the capital.

Wrexham belief growing here. We've hugged and puffed but we're a terribly soft side. Which isn't a great surprise, really.

No belief, no guts, no conviction. We're dead men walking

Indeed. Huddersfield just sacked a manager for winning 3 in 23, yet very recently he just claimed 4 points against us!!! We are absolutely fucking useless and I’m thinking more and more that we’re going to drop this season. I simply cannot see where a league win is coming from again.

Just as I type this, Sammie scores. Just where would we be without him?!

I hate reality TV generally but have to say the traitors has absolutely perfected the art form.

Indeed, what a show. Genuinely the first time I’ve been on the edge of my seat watching a programme. The last ten mins or so was just fabulous.

It will be a reaffirming of commitment to the club

They do this every time there is controversy

How many owners in English football do you think have had to write half a dozen commitment speeches to the fans? It has become their go to weapon

It is the typical "sorry love" and bunch of flowers after not coming home on Saturday night

"The club"?! Don't be silly. "Their baby" more like.
The only statement I ever want to see/hear from them is that they are f*cking off.
