  1. Keep 'em low, keep 'em low.
  2. Then there's McSven and McClueless cocking up arguably our greatest squad.
  3. It's all about 1998. It's coming home . . . This makes pretty interesting reading. "It’s almost easier to deal with a game of that magnitude if you’re younger. Certainly in my case, with my mentality. I had only made my England debut at Wembley against Chile in the February and a few months later it was the World Cup, so it was the norm in my mind. If I played this game again when I was 28, I might be sitting there thinking: ‘Jeez! This is some game to play.’ Later on in your career, you start analysing things more, you think ‘Who am I playing against today?’ Back then, I wouldn’t have had a clue who the Argentina players were, I was just going on the pitch thinking: ‘I’m gonna score a goal!’" Also there's talk of the dreaded 4-4-2 formation towards the end.
  4. I agree almost entirely. Though I'd also say we were unlucky in 1998 too. After that it's been pretty dire - not helped by some simply shockingly inadequate managers. The time is always NOW. No fecking excuses about the next generation . . .as we all know there will be more excuses should we fail in 2020 - like - players can't handle the heat of Qatar etc. - whilst most of the rest of us shiver in what could be the worst World Cup ever for the European football watcher. Fan zone in the sleet and howling wind anyone? And just to link everything together like a top pro . . here's a youngster at 18 years old (that arguably never got any better) back in the aforementioned 1998: If you're good enough, you're old enough
  5. Can anyone help out. I need to change the line "We can dance Nobby's dance, We can dance it in France". I'm struggling with Russia. Shoot . . . . . .
  6. He at least does have some 3rd division mentality to fall back on. Spain just continued passy passy passy that continued to fail, but they would have been better to try a bit of Plan B hoofball. I wonder what Southgate's Plan B is . . . .
  7. So it looks like the only dull games in the World Cup are those involving boring Brazil. ?
  8. If ever you wanted to see the definition of Kamikaze . . . . ?
  9. Japan really showing their rank naivity there. Absolutely ridiculous to try lobbing those high corners in. They got what they deserved in the end.
  10. Just shows how your keeper has to be 100%. A bit of dodgy goalkeeping and Belgium were suddenly right back in it and then well in the driving seat.
  11. Belgium gonna win it with hoofball.
  12. Well, Japan are making the supposed World Cup winners look very ordinary so far. Belgium's B team looked better, lol.
  13. Brazil win by 2 break-ways down the left. Ryan Sessegnon Ashley Young your country needs you. . .
  14. Neymar is a disgrace! #AnyoneButBrazil
  15. Who'd have thought it. The Mexicans afraid to shoot. ??
  16. I suspect the flat track bully will score today and then go missing against Brazil next game.
  17. Denmark's last penalty was the worst on target penalty I've ever seen. Dummy, wait for the keeper to dive, then fluff it straight at him ?
  18. Russia v Spain game of the tournament so far. The draw is now basically split into two halves - The Dislikaebles (Brazil, Uruguay, France, Belgium etc.) and the Likeables (England, England, England, Russia). If it's not England then hopefully another team from the likeable half can win it.
  19. No VAR controversies in the knock-out phases so far. Perhaps it's all building up for Tuesday. . .
  20. Where is super Ronnie?
  21. Yes, but Southgate has chosen Pickford. ☺️
  22. Does the ITV feed keep showing close ups of Ronaldo's face when Uruguay score? ?
  23. Portugal score. Thank god for that. I don't think I could have stood a final 20 minutes of Uruguay diving all over the place and wasting time.
  24. Time is an illusion.
  25. At the end of the day, all that separated France and Argentina was a goalkeeping error. How about that Uruguay goal? - That must go down as the cheekiest goal the World Cup has ever seen. Give me a job.
