I often hear criticism of Broughton, personally I think he's done a very good job on the transfer front on the whole given the cash he has to work with.. he has brought in:
Hyam - success (+ value)
Sammie - success (+ value)
Tronstad - success (+ value)
Brittain - on the whole a success, granted last month hasn't been great (= value)
Siggy - success (+ value)
Loans he has brought in have also been decent... Moran / Hill
Where has he failed so far...
Striker, not getting one at quality required, but was that his fault given budget?? You could argue he invested well in a goalscorer with Sammie who is the top scorer in the league and a fraction of the cost of a decent striker??
Gk - again failed here, we needed an experienced guy for this position, its a high risk position and my view is this should always be an experienced man even if the quality is lower and have younger guy working through over time.
Also Broughton is responsible for bringing in JDT who has generally had a hugely positive impact.. we now have an identity playing some brilliant football (granted we need to solidify) but onnthe whole we are playing some exapnsive football, he has also made great progress with some of the players who have played the best football in their career under his watch (JRC, Wharton, Garrett).
Given our budget we can't afford dead certs, I think the egg has done a very very good job.
I think both him and JDT with a bit of support can get us in the top 10.

On hopeless keepers, Jason Steele at Ewood but watch him last night.
Just hope we don't have to wait ten years for Leo to come good...
Quite mental there are 3 x ex Rovers keepers now playing in the prem... two of which were deemed not good enough by our fans

I think the only one we need to sell is Travis. If he can’t get in this team, with one win in eight, he is better to move on. It’s best for all parties.
It looks like we’re replacing Hill with the Crewe lad.
Realistically, I’d expect us to replace Travis if we sold him and we could do with a couple of forward on Loans.
Im going for…
4 out - Trav (sold), Hill (recall), Leonard (loan) and Markanday (Loan)
4 in (Crewe lad (buy), CM (buy /loan), 2x forwards (loan)
Seems a sensible approach, but think its time to sell Markanday, he's not good enough for this level.

Our subs ALWAYS make us worse.
I said it after the Hull game we need to play with 2 x CDMs.. Tronstad and Travis... for now until we can get back some resilience...

I think for the foreseeable future we need 2 proper cdm's.. I would set up as follows...
Brittain Carter Hill Pickering
Travis Tronstad
Adam Sammy Siggy
Telalovic

Get innnnnnnnn

We had a midfeld of Tronstad, Garrett and Wharton
I would try this formation at Hull:
Wahlstedt
Hill, Carter, Hyam, Pickering
Tronstad, Travis
Moran, Wharton, Sigurdsson
Szmodics
Yes
But change Moran for Garratt

Just a thought... I wonder if in this league with a smallish squad it's inevitable to go on a death spiral... given the competition and run, proximity of games??

Ennis wears lead boots apparently

Worse half of the season so far.
Moran - shocking he's still in this team.
Siggy - don't rate him tbh
Our RB abd GK deserve a good slap for their defending for the goal!

Slow start by Moran
Agreed, really surprised he's in ahead of Garratt

Ali Al Hamadi looks decent (according to YouTube 😊)

I can’t imagine a world where I’d start Markanday. Assuming Szmodics is fit I’d go below and apologies profusely to S. Wharton who doesn’t deserve to be dropped.
Leo; Hill, Carter, Hyam, Pickering; Wharton Tronstad; Siggy, Szmodics, Moran; Ennis.
Agree with this team, S Wharton sadly still 4th best after, Hill, Carter and Hyam.
Only amendment I would make to the above is to swap Garrett for Moran, Moran has been on a decline for a while now.

Makes sense, shown glimpses of class... if he gets consistent over the next 9 months or so we will sign him on a longer deal I'm sure

I've heard Cole from Barnsley is someone we have looked at... anyone seen anything of him.

Are there any strikers in the lower leagues that we might be interested in?
-
Playing out from the back, drawing the opposition in, is a key part to how we play.
We have improved massively in our ability of doing so since this manager came in, if we want it to improve further, we are gonna need a higher standard of player which we not able to afford.
This style isn't going anywhere with this manager, occasionally will get caught out and although not good for the ticker, overall I am loving the style of football.. given everything combined.

I would be DEVASTATED if Jdt goes fo another championship club... I'll only accept him leaving if he goes to the Prem or a top club in another league.

My personal opinion..
Looks like the manager is giving up, the players are trying but are they really trying, I'm not convinced, I think they are giving up, the fans feel like they are giving up...
I've been mega positive for a while but honestly, I think we are flogging a dead horse...
