You again are now judging Nyambe vs 2 games with our new RB. he has started ok, nothing special. Good pedigree and looks to be a decent player. Fans of his former club say he cant defend.

I'd say positionally so far he has looked better than Nyambe.  Time will tell of course but he's yet to get caught out of position, which was quite regular with RN, he just had the pace to get back thankfully.  It's clear to see as an attacking threat and general ballplayer Brittain is far superior.  However, I would fancy Nyambe in a one on one defensively due to his sheer physicality.

He's going to bloody love Dolan then. Makes half a dozen goals a season just by closing the opposition down.

I am obviously willing Vale to do well, and admittedly haven't seen much of him (Saturday and the Celtic game particularly), but I thought Dolan did more in 5 minutes than Vale did in however long he was on on Saturday.

The likeness by someone to Mark Hughes earlier is barmy.  One thing I've thought from Vale when I've seen him is the ball has rarely stuck and he's been brushed off it a bit too easy.  Something he'll hopefully improve on.

In fairness you also said Brererton would end up in the lower leagues and Buckley would end up the same.

One player you were actually right on is Whiteman iv been impressed with him in the main, still tho Buckley did have him on a bit of string when we played them last season .

It's quite difficult to take someone seriously when they were consistently berating Buckley's performances after every game when he was one of/if not our best performers, particularly in the first half of last season.  All tangible and observable evidence showed how quality his performances were, but I guess it's hard for some to admit they're wrong and take a big chomp on that humble pie.

How many times have Rovers fans said this in the last 11 years?   We're the famous Blackburn Rovers, we're a miles bigger club than 'X'.  Blatantly untrue, frankly.

A city club with an average attendance of 27,000 last season, the highest in the Championship..... our average was 14,000.
What other measure of club size are there?
Financial - Two years in the prem and support from parachute means they're superior....  not to mention the woeful mismanagement of our finances through the years.
Infrastructure - Probably our strongest suit (Thanks, Jack).  The stadium is slowly rusting away.... the training centre is top class... Sheff Utd are hoping to have their own cat 1 before long anyway....
History - bit of a nonsense argument, because no-one cares apart from the club's own fans.  No-one wants to be the next West Ham, embarrassingly regaling rival fans of the great Bobby Moore and co that won the world cup.  No-one gives a shit, just like no-one outside of our fanbase really gives a shit that we won the league in 1995.

    Anything I've missed?

From that centre halves point of view the only thing that matters is how much money he's getting paid and then I suppose likelihood of success, prioritised in that order... unlikely we're going to match Sheff Utd on either of those fronts this season.

Short of burning down EP and the STC, the Rao's have more or less managed to obliterate Jack's legacy, never mind 'absolutely respect it' as they promised, along with bold claims of making Rovers a 'truly global brand'.  When they bought the club it was unimageable that we'd be considered equals with Preston, Blackpool, Burnley and others....   Well, here we are.   Short of making us a truly global brand, they have essentially taken us backwards 35 years.... difference being, at least in those days we had people running the club who genuinely cared about it.

Admittedly my original post was me being very dramatic about just how far we have fallen I guess.  I woke up in a bad mood today.

  5. Anyone else a little unnerved by all the youths being given pro contracts?  Law of averages says at least half of them are never going to be good enough for the first team.

Just seems a way of filling the numbers which doesn't exactly bode well on transfers.  Particularly when you think of wages we are dishing out on these untested players.  Just hoping they won't be on a lot of money so it won't make too much of a dent.

I didn’t mean it to be. I know Blackburn is a town of roughly 100,000 people, and the surrounding area, maybe 150,000 to draw a fan base from. I am assuming most people who are fans have bought season tickets for years, and they are not taking money out of the Bread and egg fund to do it.
It’s about hurt feelings, failure to live up to expectations, wallowing in the Championship, and I understand that. But how long does it go on? Until we are in the situation of Bury?

I think for the majority of fans who went last season or the season before, it isn't about hurt feelings or perceived failures etc.  Most who went last season would have renewed, possibly with the potential for far more on top.

I don't think you quite appreciate the true extent of how this financial crisis is hitting people in towns like Blackburn.  I've just been in the Netherlands this weekend and spoke to people from all over the world.  The fiscal situations for North Americans and mainland Europeans in comparison to folk from Blackburn is stark.

There was a real opportunity to drop ST prices, bring in higher numbers and gates, with any potentially lost revenue almost guaranteed to be made up in merchandising and catering sales.  It's simple economics really.  Couple that with a feel-good factor and added noise/atmosphere...

Now the club has seemingly made some positive steps in these appointments, there would have been a real opportunity/potential to capitalise on it if the prices were even at a reasonable level.  In fact, I think we'd have seen a massive surge these last days/next week.

It's honestly criminal how Waggott could fuck it up so monumentally.

    NOR WAY, man...

It would be like hiring Berg again, yeah he's been coached by a legend in SAF but managerial experience wise, he has very little to go off or be impressed by and has no idea about tactics, he was lucky at Man U with the talent around him both on the coaching and playing staff with daddy ferguson on speed dial, different challenge with us, he'd be out of his depth from the start.

    "Daddy Ferguson" really tickled me

Carvalhal worked at Sheffield Wednesday with a transfer committee there. He got 2 top 6 finishes there.

Farke has 2 promotions from this league and that what we need to aiming for. I just not sure Ainsworth can take us to that sadly.

Also not sure Ainsworth's style and tactics would be suit our squad

Well that would be my first question to him if I was interviewing for the Rovers head coach job.

But I just think he is the right man for the job right now. We need a manager who can get us promote within 2 season of taking charge.

Just more excuses from Mowbray IMO. To be honest, I'm pleased he's gone now cos his excuses, moaning and sulking will be gone.

Fair enough Chadders.  You're more than entitled to your opinion on who you think is best for the job, I just don't get why you ask fellow posters questions that they can't really answer.  There's too many attempts at tripping people up on here.
