1. Watched the full match on some dodgy satellite channel in the pub after 6:30, knowing the score, unlike the Likely Lads, meant an unstressed, blissful experience - obviously wish I'd been at OT but family commitments precluded...this absolutely fantastic victory will obviously keep us all buoyant but we MUST, as fans, do something about the supporter's CHOICE at Ewood. Let's designate the Blackburn End lower tier a 'flag and scarf' ultra zone ie relax some of the stadium rules that alienate a certain type of fan....

The Alan75 concern above over the Wigan game at New Year is symptomatic of where the problem lies. He states he is put off by potential drunken, lary Rovers fans but fails to recognise that many of those have already been put off by his, more sober and staid type of support. THERE IS PLENTY OF ROOM AT EWOOD FOR BOTH, AND ALSO AT MANY AWAY GAMES ...there never used to be an either/or over supporting nor needs there be now.... definatley something for Rovers fans to take forward

    Spot on.

Its a good job that Alan 75 isnt a HSV fan today - Bittberger have just provided their fans with 10,000 litres of free beer, to celebrate beating FC Bayern yesterday.

  2. You only visit Ewood once a season Andy so why bother about kids? ;-)

    349108

I limit myself to one game a season at the moment as im a student (and not the sort that has mummy and daddys financial backing either). Used to go to a lot of games before then, especially in the first division. Im the sort of supporter that surely the rovers should be doing more to entice, rather than worrying about kids for a quid.

  3. And so they should at Ewood ....and not just in designated areas - in ALL areas .

    349078

    Noooooooo

I refuse to sit in kid a quid areas, why should i pay £20 for a ticket only to have my enjoyment spoilt by some little hosenscheisser who doesnt actually care about the game, just wants to get as much attention as possible? Whats worse is knowing that their identical seat cost them just a quid.

I understand the marketing principles behind the scheme HOWEVER i also believe that the best way to get good support in that will lift the team is to have NO concession tickets available in the BBE, and allow people to 'get away' with much more in this area - e.g standing, drinking beer (god forbid), swearing - all typical traits of a football audience imo. This is the case in many European countries - and i have never experienced an atmosphere like watching Bayern at any ground in England, especially not Ewood, and the way to make the ground more attractive is not by filling it up with kids.

  4. A ticket to stand at Bayern’s Allianz Arena costs from as little as £8 while the most expensive seats - excluding executive suites - are sold for £33.  Elsewhere, Arminia Bielefeld fans setting off for their derby in Dortmund on Tuesday night will be allowed access to the 83,000-capacity Westfalen Stadium for just £8.

    347991

I wouldnt pay 50p to go to the Westfalenstadion biggrin.gif

The other thing worth noting is that the 8 quid tickets at Allianz Arena are a class above the cheap seats in the riverside, and the atmosphere is ten times as good.

  5. Worse still for Blackburn is the growing population of Asian descent in the town. The majority of which clearly do not have the same affinity with BRFC that we do, nor will they ever have imo. As this sector is increasing inevitably the number of indigenous people living in and around the town declines......

Rubbish. The asians won't support Rovers because the dickheads that have lived close by and given 'em racial abuse for the past 40 years do. Same round here, none of 'em will support Leeds - many choose teams like Leicester or Rovers where they have relartives.

  6. Remember meeting Sherearer, Flowers and Newell at Birch servioces when i was 13 or 14. Made my day.

Think my father knows Super Atko as well for some reason.

Outside of Rovers i used to bump into quite a few of the Leeds Utd and Newcastle Utd squads as they are often at clubnights run by friends/acquaintances. Also went to school (very briefly) with a certain Michael Owen.

  7. Hargreaves is like Makelele?

He came on v Wales and gave the ball away in the centre of midfield with a nothing ball, then last night he came on and gave 2 stupid free kicks away and lost the ball everytime he got it.

Your not telling me he is one of England's best midfielders? In fact, he's bloody Canadian anyway!

    345561

He IS Englands best midfielder, with Lampard. You have to remember that England are probably, in terms of organisation, about the furthest you can get from FC Bayern right now. If your manager doesnt tell you what to do properly, especially as a sub, you are screwed. In Munchen if he puts a foot wrong, Beckenbauer or Matthaus will say something, and he won't do it again. It also cant help that the whole of England is on his back - everytime England play i say this, and i still feel the same way - you will win NOTHING whilst the tabloids are ripping you apart like this.

He wasn't the player Sven should have been using last night, granted - the formation was all wrong, but blaming a guy that was on the pitch ten minutes, come on.

  8. Germany beat South Afrika 4-2 last night with the youngster Podolski hitting a hat trick. Can't wait to see this boy transfer to Bayern, which WILL happen soon enough, we've been lacking a decent German striker for years. Hopefully he will be something to watch in the WM.

Mokoena played the full game for the Africans, McCarthy came on in about the 30th and scored. Podolski and Schweinsteiger were immense, and it appears that our midfield is a class above even Englands, if Podolski keeps his game up we may be an outside bet next summer. Although we need to find a keeper, badly. Too many almost good enough German keepers atm. This weeks kicker features Olly Bierhoff discussing the pros and cons of Kahn and Lehmann, and I can't help but laugh at it all. Get Hildebrand in for the France match, the face of the future. Even Adler would do...

  9. Does anyone know what Owen Hargreaves has over Sven, pictures of him in Nancy's underwear maybe. The bloke comes on in every game and yet I couldn't tell you anything about him as a player, other than that he's crap.

I am getting obsessed about this and have just checked the FA website and found out that Hargreaves has 29 caps and yet has only started 2 games since the last World Cup. There must be legendary English players who have far less than 29 caps. There must be something going on.

    345431

You clearly have never watched Bayern. The mans like Makelele. Just sven doesnt use him properly. Hargreaves would allow Gerrard and Lampard to play to their full attacking strengths in an England team minus Beckham.

How everyone can blame a guy that played the last ten minutes is beyond me. Im sure if he played for MUFC the sun would be running a campaign to get him the captains armband.

Oh, and let me just say, PMSL.

  10. How can you say a single death is deserved ? Let alone 10,00 plus. This is a completely outragous statement. Did the German citizens killed by the allies in WW II "deserve it" ? After all, they voted a madman into power, just as the US did (as despite my misgiving about Bush, I'd would still class Hitler a bigger problem).

    345295

I didnt say a single death was deserved. However, after what the yanks have done in recent years, its nice to see an american city crippled. ask those in Baghdad.

I don't think president Bush and cronies were sat rubbing their hands thinking 'lets kill all the poor black people'. However i do believe that they have not placed a single life above anything that has significant money making value.

I don't think things would have been a great deal different if Gore was in charge. There would have been less homes to flood (as many close to the canal have been built recently, despite complaints from democrats), and i don't think the canal breach would have happened, and the aid would have come in slightly quicker..... if Nader was in charge, well, i'm not gonna bother wasting my time speculating.

As for the looters, they are not scum. its human nature. But i notice you didnt see any of them robbing bars owned by private citizens who were armed with a shotgun protecting their livelihoods. My point isnt 'woohoo, walmart are really gonna feel that one', it was more that the companies themselves hadnt cared to prepare for it, like they actually believed it wasn't going to happen.

I don't wish death on any American, just a diet and a lesson in globalisation. When i read a news report of a woman old enough to remember the second world war complaining because she had to spend a night in a refugee centre without a toothbrush however, i do wonder.

Your comparison to Hitler is an interesting one. I am sure you are aware that Britain was almost on his side, and had it not been for the working class would have probably entered some sort of coalition with him. Makes you think.

  11. Well, I read through this garbage and it was just about as I expected.  All Anti American political laundry airing, only American and I think one other actually mentioned anything about the human suffering, no mention of any compassion on here.  Perhaps your hearts would go out if New Orleans had been choc full of British Holiday makers a la the Tsunami.

As I mentioned during the Tsunami no one cares when there are disasters here.  You were all too worried about how much America had or had not given at that time, I wonder where the dollar totals lie now.

You are all bloody hypocrites, queueing up to have a go.

As for America having enough of it's own resources, is that really the point.  I feel a deep sadness for many of you since you do not fully understand humanity, plastic is what you are, plastic.

    345036

    1. If anywhere deserved it, it was America. Fact. You are the worlds biggest problem.

    2. From the massive amount of 'small town' american press, your countries making themselves look even worse. Why are we reading all these stories about how rich white folk are demanding to be housed as refugees together, in certain areas, with certain people etc etc, whilst they don't even acknowledge half the poor people can't even get out the city? If you won't even help yourselves, why should you get help from elsewhere?

    3. Dollar totals? Dont be so daft. Its americans that think in dollar totals. We are all hoping for a maximum devastation, minumum deaths. Its clear to see who is thinking in dollar totals when you look at what has and hasnt been destroyed in N.O - Note all government property seems to be fine, and the only tourist attractions showing any sort of strain are the Superdome and Convention Centre.

    4. Human suffering? You think that doesnt happen elsewhere every single day? Shell have shot up half of Nigeria to get the fuel to your car. Nike exploit sweatshop workers worldwide - yet these companies are seen as trendsetters, world leaders, something to be admired, thanks to American freemarket ideals. Don't see any of you yanks whinging about that ever though. Nice to see the minute the sh*t hits the fan, Walmart and Foot Locker are raided instantly. At least there is a couple of people left in your country with their head screwed on.

    5. Halliburton were given the contract for the cleanup (probably uncontested, but i havent found proof of that yet) way back in July. Alarm bells are ringing.

    6. I geniunely believe, from what i have read, that there was NO INTENTION to save many of the poor in N.O. This is why it was several days before red cross etc was allowd in.

Your governments shafted you, again. Nay mind, you'll still vote for the same party next time, because you 'always do'.
