Republic of Ireland defender who can play variety of positions which appeals to mowbray. But mainly centre back and meant to be the next Shane Duffy, impressed at Sunderland and hearts last year

No matter what your opinion of Gallagher is I think you need to give him some credit for holding out for us when he had other options available. He could have got better wages and stayed nearer Southampton rather than uproot the length of the country. Any player that shows dedication to the club deserves some credit from me. Personally I quite like him, think he will do well for us. Loans to pick up from next week. Believe gk is closing

Although been told the quieter the club are the closer they are to a deal as they tighten leaks and press interference to avoid any vultures scuppering deals last minute, so they have been quiet so potentially something brewing. Mowbray likes him, Gallagher willing to come here but finances still not adding up. Wouldn’t be surprised if we missed out. Jealous of Brentford to be honest, never thought I’d be saying that.

If the better gks are defenders aren’t there to be targeted then you can’t get them. Would not be surprised if we see a whole lot more of some of the youngsters this season. Thinking on Gallagher is that should graham get injured we don’t have a like for like and the team is disjointed. Arma and bb are for inside forward roles off the wing, sg is for strong frontman/ hold up , learn and take over from graham. I think that one makes sense

There will be all 3 though, it’s just at varying qualities. Gallagher is one mowbray likes and sees resale value on so is happy to spend as he is available

I’m by no means saying it’s running like clockwork, in fact I have probably been one of mowbrays biggest critics. As mentioned previously though it’s striking when certain players become available rather than prioritising. I’m with you that a gk and defender should be higher priority. Been told that gk and defender deal may be frees with high wages, clubs willing to release rather than pay wages

Not struggling for funds as such, trying to play the market to allow him to get the players he really wants in. Would be struggling to get his A list, keeper, defender and striker in currently with squad actually fairly bloated in certain positions - midfield.

Don’t know exact money but they have both came from high spending clubs so it won’t be peanuts Think mowbray was always going to be bringing in another keeper, think as reported raya didn’t like being made the scapegoat and pretty much said if there is an option then sell me then.

He got budget from start of summer but with downing, Johnson and incoming outlay of Gallagher fee and wages it’s pretty much not leaving much for a gk and a defenders wages so he is having to get green light that he will be allowed to make these moves. Believe the keeper and defender he wants are both of a decent standard- don’t know names- but it’s the wages that are causing issues and headaches. He is trying to get Gallagher for pretty much the exact raya money. adam won’t be signed unless one or two moved on to free up wages. Suits both parties at the moment to have him, gets his fitness up and allows us to have a ready made backup in should we manage to offload a few. Not too dissimilar to rodwell deal last year

Not much to be honest, Gallagher told Wigan he wasn’t willing to join them Monday, he would join us, mowbray wants him but believe there is still a way to go with fee with Southampton. Still expect this one to be done. gk deals are in place but again they are heavy wages involved , mowbray can’t pull trigger until he knows what pot he is pissing in . There is an a option A and a B option depending on shifting on some deadwood. Trouble being these players aren’t gathering much attention and those that are can’t compete with silly wages we gave out last year with new contracts. Might have to loan players out and pay some of the wages just to recoup some money back. Travis interest was from Norwich and Bournemouth but believe mowbray has vetoed that before any bid has came in. Not an awful lot moving the now, even loans are proving difficult to complete. Sorry it’s not great news on the new faces front, mowbray is feeling severely frustrated blaming agents and clubs for being too greedy

As I said Friday, we have deals in place for three keepers ranging from loans with high wages to free transfers. I think we will have one by Wednesday. Darlow was never a go-er as I said due to Newcastle’s current situation manager wise. Gallagher deciding over weekend between us and Wigan, will be decided tomorrow who he has chosen. i don’t believe the dann links have much substance. But we are working on a prem league defender loan and we are far down the road on that one. Adams wasn’t a consideration until mowbray liked what he saw in training and now considering. Smallwood has league one options and there Looks to be another slightly unexpected departure. Few might be as miffed as raya with that one. I still wish there was a move for Lowe or Maddison but nothing yet.

Does mowbray only sign midfielders like what is actually going on here

2 goals, 2 assists in 33 matches , I know most of them were sub appearances, but that’s nothing to get hyper about. I can remember many a time he was in a good position, played the wrong ball or ballooned it over the bar, still work to be done there imo
