The mysterious case of Joe Rothwell.
Bbrovers2288 replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Again I think your overplaying his impact. I haven’t noticed us suddenly playing incredible when rothwell has came on. I agree he could potentially be a very good player but he could also go the way of say a Ben Thornley. Needs to be proven, reliable with assists and goals to boot to merit such accolade -

Rothwell- massively overhyped with fans happy to pin their hopes on the lad changing our fortunes whereas the truth of the matter lies a lot deeper than rothwell not starting. Mowbray is the problem but rothwell is not the soloution. Yes he should be playing more and I’d argue he should be given as much time as armstrong has but when I have seen him he tries for the glory ball, rushed passing and no scent of a goal scorer as yet. Not to say he doesn’t have talent and I like his directness but let’s not say we have the next Messi here. Useful squad player -

Bennett is worth keeping for versatility and athleticism, in a well drilled team I think he could be effective, unfortunately we aren’t at the moment. Raya needs bumped to backup and a more reliable keeper brought in. Nyambe is the only defender I’m currently 100% content with in his position. Lenihan could probably progress with a component centre half beside him to teach him the role Midfield only dack, rothwell and chapman are competent in their roles ie being creative. Our enforcers are either too small, or too limited. Graham needs to be backup to a big statement of intent striker if we are to progress. Armstrong is a decent option against certain opposition that don’t like pace. Others I haven’t mentioned need moved on -
The Big Summer Clearout

How hopeless a signing has gladwin been, dont recall him as a player for us at all. id be open to selling dack to fund a massive overhaul, like him but massive changes needed so might have to be a sacrifice. Does tend to go missing also rodwell is a no from me if he is a defender, doesn’t fill me with confidence in the position and injury questions too. mulgrew can be shipped off to Aberdeen to finish his career -

That’s why we need scouts to be looking at lower league overseas players, doesn’t have to be expensive if we can unearth a gem like samba. Don’t think Jansson cost Leeds that much -
If anyone still needs any convincing please google Tony Mowbray sacked and read about all the accounts from past clubs and players. A few that stick out. Coventry- after a run of 10 games mowbray walked saying he couldn’t turn it around but blamed himself for not strengthening the defence and getting the 6’4 hardman that they needed. Celtic- considered the worst manager they have ever had with the worst win %, concluding with a 4-0 defeat to st Mirren scott brown- baffled by his tactics, felt he was the best midfielder in the club but mowbray was playing him at left back and he felt he was forcing him out the club Scott McDonald- baffled by tactics and anything he did try wouldn’t work so he would revert to type but type didn’t work either. Wouldn’t play best team and was too loyal to some that didn’t deserve it. thats from a 10 minute google search, so who is telling me that it’s all going to turn round and lessons have been learned?! Nah, time to go
-
Sack, said it last year even when we were riding high. Football atrocious, no plan, poor signings, poor tactics. Very very very very very very very very very average manager at this level
-
Unpopular opinion- lambert is a better manager than mowbray. He has gone in there and made a shit show a hard team to beat now. Who wouldn’t have took James Collins and Alan judge here in January, I certainly would’ve. why are we fighting with one arm behind our back when we don’t need to, better managers out there so why wouldn’t we want to better ourselves

Mowbray sacked for the defence fiasco, late goals fiasco and the brereton fiasco. Need any more excuses? Not for me. Johnson in until end of the season and join the managerial merry go round come what may -

Sigh, mowbray out. Same old same old. Getting the same feeling I had with kean and coyle, expecting defeats and the same mistakes from the same shyte players -
Have you seen Smallwood and Evans shoot? Cows arse with a banjo comes to mind, both terrible at it. As well as creative passes. Niggly tempo stoppers is all they are
-
Think Wigan have shot themselves in the foot a bit, when we played them in league 1 I thought they were a decent physical side with some players I’d have here but they sold a lot of them without replacing. Bit odd their recruitment
-
More than 3 sadly, I’d say about 7-8 to get us anywhere near a promotion team
-
Happy with the result. thought Magloire was terrific. nyambe was also very good. i really dislike him but I thought Williams was actually not too bad, despite a silly tackle from behind that could’ve been a red. Actually thought Conway brought a bit of calm back there too, looked better when bell went off. Reed was poor for me. travis grew as the game went on. dack was everywhere but how he didn’t score before he did I don’t know. Looks a bit snappy when getting into good positions. graham showed his experience and scored the chances he got, great servant for us. Nuttall just isn’t for me, very weak finish when he should’ve been scoring. Would rather Ben got a chance to build confidence. mowbray did well with cards he was given albeit a lot of its own his own faults. He might’ve stumbled on a decent centre half like he done with Travis, only getting a chance when no option. Be more bold Tony, let the youngsters loose! Get rid of hacks like Smallwood and Evans

Would love Wigan to go down, dislike cook

Oooft Wigan are bad

Cmon man, bury it

Game should’ve been buried, worries me. Williams could’ve walked there
