My thoughts are we've got 4 players signed and that the plan is to unveil them at half time tonight. A man can dream

    ??

two fast, tall, strong wingers, one nippy strong striker and a brute of a CH..running out to We Are The Champions

ah..I dreamt something similar but alas Marriott has gone to Derby ??

He's often broke transfer news - especially during the Bowyer era, on here first.

With all due respect, having the inside on transfers can be very different from knowing about what transpired in discussions between the gaffer and the owners. Again, with all respect, since there is no concrete evidence either ways eh

Like I said TM wants to take the slow slow approach and “ Build” and wants to stay in the project ...

Win or Bust is not for him and players who wear caps backwards!

Managers are in it for themselves in the end just like some players..

The Rothwells might be clean cut looking wise but they are for the long term and big gambles and this team is basically the same that went down.....

This is different from taking a smaller Budget than what was offered me thinks

I think a lot of people underestimate that our biggest problem might not be the transfer fee, but wages. A player like Armstrong is probably on double of our highest earner which won't work. We're not paying the Leon Best's of this world 30k a week anymore and need to keep a sustainable model which is also fair to the rest of the group. I think a major problem Mowbray is facing is that the agent's demands are too rich at the moment. Some of his comments are proof of that.

Given that we probably have a wage structure that is at best mid championship it's not realistic to buy established higher earning players. Trying to find the next Bradley Dack is probably gambling on a League One/Two player or going abroad. You can probably buy almost anyone here in Norway for less than a million including seasoned internationals, although I reckon only a handful have the potential to make an impact.

sort of agree but I also do think that it's complicated by not wanting to pay more for incoming (and younger) players than the established pros already here. When the pros think of themselves of a standard as better or on par with what's incoming (whippersnappers). It might all be Mowbray's philosophy.

  5. Do players still get paid? It sounds desperate but people like Bruce are still hanging in there with large wages.

On Villa. They are losing 5 million per month

The latest from the Birmingham Mail: “Villa need a cash injection before the weekend as owner Tony Xia’s problems continue to mount.

“Money needs to be raised by Friday to pay this month’s tax bill on time, but the embattled chairman is close to exhausting his loan options.

“Selling either Jack Grealish or James Chester would paper over the cracks in the short-term as Villa continue to lose around £5m a month.”

Not saying we should loan him out but I thought I read an interview where Mogga said Wharton had been tested at league 2 and now needs to try League one?

    Could be wrong though.

In two minds too. Could be worth a try in a few games at this level and see how it goes. Never try never know

I agree with this. Seems a waste to spend some of our budget (if we have one) on a 'backup' player when we already have a ready made back up player in Wharton. Especially when we need to improve starting positions in the squad.

Yes, I think the areas that need to be looked at first would be both wings and up front. Conway can be a mentor but not a starter imho

  8. The thing for Chapman is it’s mental as well as having physically recovered. If he’s apprehensive on sprints or stretching for the ball, mentally holding back, it could make him half the player that he was. And it would be hard for him if those injuries are always talked about whenever his name is brought up.

i do hope he has gotten back to his previous level, playing without fear. He still has potential to grow even better.

Ronaldo is like the ultimate role model for young lads. The shape he is in at his age is absolutely incredible.

If you put Caddis and Ronaldo side by side with no tops on, people wouldn't believe you if you said they are both professional footballers, or the same species. Ronaldo is a freak of nature though, so probably unfair to compare him to any players, let alone Caddis

Well, there can be other examples apart from Ronaldo. Examples to show dedication to the craft. There were also stories about Beckham taking hundreds of free kicks AFTER training, right? That’s how you get good, get better and the journey to unerring free kicks (re: vs Greece). Having said that though, he got his bird Victoria on nights out, didn’t he ??

A professional footballer being as unfit as Caddis has been since he's been here, is an absolute disgrace.

If we docked his wages until he got up to speed, I'm sure that would get him up to speed a little more quickly....

if only the kids and the young pros train like Ronaldo..the career is so short, so they should make the most of it

and oh dear, Caddis is a couple of years younger than Ronaldo. I know who is fitter
