I suppose it was like a 'tallest midget' award for that year, but always struck me as odd he was given our player of the year award in 16-17. Seemed to be awarded for him managing to be our consistent (and mediocre) LB that year while everywhere else was such a shitshow... We had worse problems that year, and I think 'awful' is harsh, but I agree he was hardly a bright light!

Williams has always been a Jekyll-Hyde player for me... I'd argue he's actually had some pretty solid games as a CB, he generally looked good in L1 last year (against generally poor opposition, as you said), and it's nice to have his LB/CB flexibility as a backup, but I've never been convinced by him as a LB, defensively or offensively (despite his best efforts on the latter...) and he's very hit-or-miss as a CB. I don't mind him as a backup option, but not a starter at this level.

I'd hoped him and Bell competing for the starting LB spot would end up producing a decent LB for us this year, but both have disappointed so far. Bell more so as I expected him to run away with it.

I've only seen Williams play live about 5 times, always thought he wasn't a footballer.

If we want to get petty about things and talk about 'fair' representation I'd actually argue that 8 out of 92 isn't far off proportionate by head of the population in this country. 8 out of 92 is over 7% which I don't think is that far off the percentage of BAME people in society, perhaps a couple of per cent below. It seems the media are still under the impression that there is massive under-representation in the League. Interestingly I've heard plenty of people complaining about the number of BAME managers but none have ever provided a number out of 92 they believe is appropriate to satisfy this and come up with a reasonable argument why.

On Talksport last night, Darren Lewis, black journalist for the Mirror said that there has been a furore about SC being called "the derogatory term"  coloured, rather than black, how is that derogatory?  Would you call Chris Hughton black?  i would have thought that coloured would encompass anyone who wasn't IC1, or is that just me?

Wages could be an issue but at his age and his wealth you think he would be making a footballing decision. No harm in throwing it out there

More chance of us getting promoted than that happening!
