Played just 7 times in the past 20 months. Is he injured?
From what I read he was second choice at Cardiff so playing time was limited.
Preston fans say he was Mr. Consistent and the best defender they have had in the last few years. He was bought for 4-mill so I can almost guarantee he will be a big upgrade over Bell

Praying that Cunningham happens, the starting defense is now: Cunningham, Lenihan, Tosin(in a week or whatever) and Nyambe . Compare that to Bell, Lenihan, Mulgrew and Bennett. It is day and night

Some awful quotes from Mowbray this morning through, this is a bit of a kicking for Tyler
With total respect to Tyler Magloire at this moment in his career we are not going to beat the top teams in the league with Tyler in our team
I really don't get this element of Mowbray's management.
He treats older players like they need to be protected and then drops bombs on younger players. Surely it should be the other way round

Cunningham would be a very nice addition. One more centre back and I will take everything back haha

TM on if no signings arrive:
"Okay, but the job is always to improve and get better. New signings take a bit of time to settle in"
Tony must be baffled by other clubs making transfers.
"Steve did you see Leeds brought in a player on deadline day."
"I know Tony, madness"
"Don't they know new signings take time to settle in and have to fight for the first team. No player in this world could displace Elliot Bennett from my team in less than a month"

Or TM is saying what we want to hear. Not saying you are wrong as communication from the club is very hot and miss but it's very much a possibility that TM is trying to placate fans.
But he must know that if we don't sign anyone today then his comments have built up more frustration.
Surely the club isnt this dense. I expect maybe one defender in today then.

So this is now how Mowbray must have our defence laid out in his head/in his plans. It's really scary.

Nyambe
Grayson

There must be some decent loans available still. At this point any one would be welcome to the defence

I think it's more a case that the budget isn't there to fund transfers.
It's all contradictory. Didn't Mowbray say we had to sell Raya to fund other signings?
Been saying most of the summer I thought we'd barely a transfer pot to p1ss in. Also said I thought we were now at the stage where every £1 spent on fees / wages had to at least been matched by the same in on fees / savings on wages. Sadly, I think I might be proven to be correct.
I think you are right Mercer. However, the club needs to be careful in not hyping up expectations too much. Some of the comments from Waggott and Mowbray have seemed to imply the existent of more money then there is. Then when the transfers don't happen people are confused and annoyed

'Though Waggott said the sales weren’t needed to fund the move for Gallagher'.
IMO, a load of bullsh1t in the article from Waggott - I'm sure many supporters wont buy it but sadly some will.
So if that is the case from bullshitter in chief Waggott, then it is a managerial decision, not a finicial one, to not sign a quality defender. On that basis Mowbray is setting himself up for the sack

Sharpe tweeting if we are to sign a defender it will be someone cheap
Hmmm cheap and a last minute decision to sure up a defense leaking goals. Not quite on the soundness of this plan

It's totally academic but I would say swapping Dack for an quality centreback would improve our chances of promotion. I think between Buckley and Rothwell we could compensate for Dacks loss somewhat and a solid centreback would make an absolutely huge impact.
That said it would be far preferable to both keep Dack and find a very good centreback. Surely we can do that? Are they that hard to find?
To be honest. If we could have sold Dack for something around 12 million I would have lept at the chance.
If we would have invested that in two quality defenders I would have backed us for a promotion push

Biggest transfer of the year for us. Mowbray out and Damien Johnson in as head coach.

No but we are all disappointed. The defence was crap - agreed, but the expensive, acclaimed attack did nothing either. I agree with you AND Paul.
Aye no disagreement here, I don't disagree with Paul either, obviously the attack didn't perform. Everyone can weight it differently. For me personally I am more disappointing in the defence than the attack
-
Just now, Paul Mellelieu said:
It's not an either/or.
Did I say it was? Just a balance of probabilities. No attack scored 2/3 goals a game but many defences can keep a clean sheet at home against a promoted team
Even good attacking players have off days. City relied upon a Kompany wonder goal to win the league. But if those off days are coupled with a leaky defence then we get performances like today
-
Just now, Paul Mellelieu said:
My point is that we had lots of possession, so we shouldn't the attackers off the hook too. Not a difficult line of argument to follow.
Oh I get the argument, I am arguing that maybe it is more realistic to expect the defence to get a clean sheet once in a while rather than expecting the attack to be scoring 2/3 goals every game. Do you follow that one?
-
Just now, Paul Mellelieu said:
If attacking players don't create chances, then we won't score.
Ayy and if we hadn't had conceded two poor chances then we would have won today.
-
Is Amari Bell the only defender that Mowbray has purchased that started today? Bloody hell, thinking about that he really is inept at organising defences

. Some responsibility must be taken by the provider quartet of Dack, Armstrong, Downing and Travis. .
Yeah I will give them 1%, Bennett 10% and 89% to the clueless dinosaur in charge

The truth is we could have not bought Gallagher and played Ben up front and have got the same amount of chances today. What the flying fuck is our transfer policy?
Who decided 5 million on another striker was the right thing to do?

Or LB or RB (as he obviously doesn’t rate Nyambe).
If he doesn't drop Bennett after this game just end the season now. Sick of watching the dinosaur in charge of our club

Thanks TM spoiling my weekend utter pillock the whole fanbase knew what the team should have been!! All the optimism gone
Come on now. Mowbray is a football genius. Who else could have picked Elliot Bennett when we have Nyambe?

Mowbray "Look no one is guaranteed a spot and Cunningham will have to try hard in the next few weeks and prove to me and the team he has what it takes. Players dont just come into the first team. He might have sit a while on the bench before he is given that chance"
Feel like I just channelled my inner Mowbray there
