  1. Sam Gallagher and Ben Brereton

Huge gamble here. Can we afford this style of purchase?

Fits the overall direction of the club's transfer policy: young, British and potential. However, this is a huge risk to have so much money in two players when the more sensible strategy would be to spread that over several positions.

To save others the trouble of scrolling and reading through this tripe, here's the latest:

We've had no news from India following Mowbray's trip there, Conway's going and other than that we haven't  signed or sold anybody. Only 70 days until the transfer window shuts...

Has there been any idea/leak of what the message from Venkys was?

  3. I think that despite our lack of depth in CM we need to sell Evans and Smallwood quickly and look to buy 3 CMs. Two CMs who are first teamers and a covering player

In defences we need at least two depending on our budget. Priorities are a another CB and LB. Nyambe might have some potential due to his age but Bell has shown he isnt up for this league IMO.

Having Chapman fit again will be like a new signing on the wing but we still need 1 forward to add a bit of depth. Graham is getting older and an injury to him leaves us knackered.

We need to hope we keep hold of Dack for another year. Although saying that I can't see an obvious destination for him apart from the relegated Prem Clubs spending the cash to go right by up,  Huddersfield?.

  4. If we do get Assombalonga then we are aiming for promotion. That is the only scenario where it really doesn't matter if we pay him £40,000 a week. That salary is so small compared to the premier league money promotion generates.

I would be surprised if Venkys were taking that gamble though. Realistically we can aim for the play offs, automatic promotion is too far a gap.

There is the chance that the club are assuming Dack will be sold in summer and this is the replacement purchase with the hope that if we get promoted we obviously keep them both.

  5. I have a really good feeling about Brereton. Given how young and hungry our squad is combined with the good training facilities we have, our club must be one of the best places for players to develop. If we can keep this group together and develop them we will have a bloody good team.
