    Weirdo.

I'd love for the Foden rumour to be true. You can see talk of Leeds being linked on the internet but no talk of Rovers except for BDS' mate. I wouldn't mind signing him just to beat Leeds to him. He's definitely a marquee signing.

My only worry about it would be we have other areas we have to strengthen before and should spend money on that but it would be an incredibly hard offer to turn down to sign Foden regardless of the mentioned.

And before BDS and Paul Mani's Crusaders come knocking I'm not complaining I just want a striker or two

A bit of lighthearted banter mate. Relax

The whole point of the concern is about the failure to maintain and build on the feel-good factor created by last season (as you describe).

TM clearly wanted to, hence the statements he made which have been quoted endlessly on here.

Its not negativity to worry that its not going as planned.

You brought up the term "happy clapper", no-one else has called you that ,as I recall, but the term doesn't seem extreme in your case.

    WUM applies as well.

Fair point regarding the execution of the plan. Surely we can wait until the end of the window though.

A City supporting mate of mine thinks it is Phil Foden that we are going to loan from them.

Now that would be a signing!!

Ahh mate. Don’t do this to us!! There’s prob about 10 lads just googled “10 reasons why you should hate Phil Foden” just so they have something to complain about! Hahahah

Complete nonsense. You appear to be bending the actual truth to suit your own narrative.

Just for the record I, like every other Rovers fan, want us to buy/loan well in the windows and at least stay up in the Championship come the end of next season.

I am tired of the constant criticism of those currently less than impressed with our transfer activity to date.

Of course there are a lot of pages on here. It's the main current topic.

I went to the last game of the season at Ewood. At that moment I don’t remember a better feeling amongst the supporters, the players, the manager etc since we won the league.

My initial point was that in spite of what is an extremely positive moment there were still 287 pages of generally negative comments. That’s a fair point to make.

Urban myth perpetuated by the likes of you.

It will be interesting to see if you stick around the MB post transfer window.

In recent years many who turn out at this stage of the season soon disappear, lesson learnt.

There’s nothing ‘Urban myth’ about the last 287 pages. Read them in context bearing in mind we are in the best place since Venkys arrived. It’s fair to say that the general rhetoric is negative.

I won’t post past the transfer windows but I will read. This is because if you try to be positive on here you’re labelled a ‘happy clapper’ and driven away, no matter how informed or sensible you are.

Work this out - Most of the negative posters in here don’t even take on the likes of Neophox because even though he has a track record of being right...the TRUTH doesn’t fit their negative rhetoric either! Crazy.

    Look at this man!

22 goals in 22 games i MSL this season. Josef Martinez!

pace and goals and a Nice haircut?

Back to reality... signings soon as I said before but it takes time to get the right blend..

but Harrison has never been a target for Rovers and neither Edwards.

another name that is popping up is Jack Baldwin 25 year old (Peterborough captain). Last year on contract and could cost around £250.000.

Thanks mate. You won’t get too much feedback on your ‘back to reality’ bit in here because it doesn’t fit the general negative rhetoric...but yeah I heard Baldwin too.

Maddison likely as we ARE one of two teams in for him and most likely to sign him unless

    a) he refuses to reduce his ridiculous wage demands (higher than Dack and Mulgrew).

    b) someone else triggers his release and pays said wages.

More than likely reach a deal this or next week on a). and b) is unlikely...Deal very likely.

As is Armstrong in the last week when everyone stops posturing and players and agents accept that they are facing being at club where no one wants you.

If its the same Mani, looks like he's managed to extract himself from Craig Shorts are and went and plopped himself right up Tony Mowbray's

People are allowed to have a different opinion than yours, without being belittled and condescended to. So knock it off, its really annoying.

I hope you're right and we sign 3 or 4 top players, looks unlikely at the minute. Time left, fingers crossed, but we've been here before with Venkys

Nothing condescending about suggesting we wait until the window closes.

And I know who I know...most of them actually seek me out tbf for one reason or another. We mix in similar circles.

    So what?

It was quite funny when Mowbray spoke of turning down good players who sat in his office because they wore ripped jeans and had tattoos, it’s seeming slightly less humourous a few weeks down the line!

Big couple of weeks ahead, other clubs signing players we have been linked with, just hope our deals are progressing under the radar.

Mate, if you’ve ever managed people or any team you’ll know this isn’t the case. If a person is the wrong fit for a team it matters not what skills they have. It just won’t work.

Trust the manager. He has the best interests of our club at heart. Don’t castigate him for rejecting Bell ends. We’ve trod that path before with the likes of Murphy, Best, Etuhu etc...no thanks.

Such a slow team with neither winger offering width or an attacking threat. Can get away with Bennett there at times providing youve pace on the other side. Rothwell should be back up for Dack. And dont see Davenport starting over Evans.

Yeah I agree it’s a slow team but a team capable of beating Ipswich nevertheless....

fyi - I’m not saying that team is good enough for the championship. I just provided it as it has been mentioned that we had to be ready for the first game.

Of equal or even more importance is the countdown to Ipswich which is when the season starts. That is when we need everyone in place and ready to go. The transfer deadline is an artificial creation milked by the media for ratings and viewing figures. We need to be ready for the big kick off or once again we'll be starting a season on the back foot. Fortunately this time we have a better manager and appear to be much fitter but its quite a long running theme here that we kick off a season short of where we need to be.

I’ve read the quotes from Hurst and he’s as worried as anyone that their squad is light in numbers.

    Raya

    Nyambe Lenihan Mulg Williams

    Smallwood Davenport

    Bennett Dack Rothwell

    Graham

This team can win at Ipswich imo.

If a player has a release fee and the club aren't willing to let them go for under that fee then how long can it possibly take?

Armstrong is £3m. Maddison is £2.5m. Both managers and chairmen from each club have stated this several times. To me it doesn't seem plausible that we have been haggling for those deals for so long. That either suggests that we don't have the funds to buy them or they simply aren't targets.

Either way, if Newcastle truly are holding out for £3m I certainly wouldn't be paying it. Armstrong is a good player, Maddison is better....and cheaper.

Without going too deeply into things (or my relationship with footballers past and present) agreeing a deal in football can take an inordinate amount of time. Especially if the two clubs are some way away from the magical number and the player is pushing the move...

Minimum financial backing for Mowbray...so disappointing after last seasons efforts.

Venkys clearly want maximum return for little input, just one big problem...everything they have touched has turned to shyte.

    Eh!?? The window hasn’t closed!?

Why do you think that's the reason we haven't signed any more players?

I think you simply want to believe that. It doesn't make sense to me. We don't want him to panic, we just want him to sign the players he targetted and presumably believes are necessary.

To my mind its much more likely that the plans he drew up before last season ended have not been acted on because there isn't sufficient funds. Much more obvious explanation.

Evidence?---its the same reason that has ruined just about every transfer window since Venkys rolled up.

This is why I’m confident mate. Because our manager is confident that he’ll get his first choices. How could he be confident if he didn’t have the funds?

Actually, based on words from the horses mouth, your theory isn’t very obvious at all. I’m not trying to offend people. I’m just pointing out that the manager (whom we all trust, seems happy and confident). So why can’t we judge this window once it closes?

I think we're still a few signings short of being a better squad having lost Payne, Armstrong and Chapman at the end of their loans.

Great to nail down contracts for Dack, Lenni etc.

But still desperately short on the wings and for strikers.

    I agree mate. 100%

I think we need to forget Armstrong tbh... There is absolutely no way they are going to pay 3 million for him. If they aren't going to pay 750k for Harrison then they're not going be chucking 3 mill around.

This is my point. I’m not saying we have £3m but how on earth does Harrison going to Ipswich for £750k mean we HAVEN’T got any money!!? Hahaha

  16. 16 minutes ago, RevidgeBlue said:

Is it a good window though if you've missed out on all your preferred targets and ended up having to bring bodies in almost for the sake of it?

Guess we'll never know. The Club will claim We've brought in our number one targets all along no matter who turns up.

I genuinely trust TM. I think the reason we haven’t signed any more players is because he won’t panic and buy for the sake of it.

    Whether it’s list a, b, c or d...if we’ve got a better squad then I’ll be happy.

  17. Just now, roversfan99 said:

Agreed on no one knowing the budget but surely prices will only go up now once clubs sense a bit of desperation kicking in?

I fear your hopes for Maddison, Armstrong and Bauer will leave you dissapointed in a couple of weeks too.

Prices do tend to become more realistic...

Maybe I will be disappointed. But I’m willing to wait until the end of the window to judge it.

Sounds like Tony is starting to grasp at straws a bit now and any chance of any permanent signings is receding fast.

Would appear we're living in hope of relying on the good grace of Premiership Clubs to loan us a player or two they don't want after they've seen them in action pre Sea son.

    What a way to operate.

Oh come on mate. Look at the whole interview in context. He’s not grasping at straws. He’s confident, almost bullish!!

  19. 1 hour ago, RevidgeBlue said:

Clearly TM did have a list of targets (I was told he'd submitted those to the Board at the end of last season) and he subsequently conveyed the impression upon his return from India he was happy with the funds available.

It would appear some weeks later as I've been saying all along that with the benefit of hindsight that funding has been insufficient to land any of the players he wanted and the rhetoric from TM has in fact changed substantially from confidently predicting bringing in six signings at the start of the window etc to being "excited" about the sort of players who would be coming in (funnily enough near the ST early bird deadline), to being "hopeful" of bringing in players with experience to admitting that we may not be able to bring anyone in at all in preference to Nuttall.

You don't really think by TM would leave landing his targets until the last week or so of the window by choice and play Russian roulette by risking someone else nipping in first do you?

We would appear to be in a right old mess. The only saving grace as far as I can see it is that it is still hopefully not too late for the Manager Board and owners to completely re-evaluate and put some decent funding in place to bring in players of the calibre we need.

I think the article released 15-20 mins ago on the Lancashire Telegraph confirms the ongoing rhetoric which hasn’t really changed...

The only benefit to TM leaving the signings of specific players to the last minute is that you get them for their real price and not the inflated sums that are being banded about. So yes, I can see why you’d hang on.

I completely disagree that we’re ‘in a right old mess’. The way I see it, if we finish up paying £1.5m instead of £3m for Armstrong, £750k-£1m instead of £2m for Bauer, plus maybe Maddison and a couple of loans then we will have had an excellent window and it will have been worth the wait.

The fact of the matter here is that no one knows how much or little money we have. No one even knows who the targets are or why they haven’t signed yet. Let’s judge the window when it’s done.

Until then, I’ll be refreshing every social media outlet every hour too in the hope that I’m not disappointed!! Haha
