Ah - wonder where you'd gone - you usually turn up at transfer window time to peddle the Company line.

    Disagree completely.

£15 m is NOT a lot of money for someone of that age and potential, it's absolutely derisory. We need to be looking at at least £20m now with the potential for at least another £10m in add ons at a later date.

Depends how desperate we are for money of course but if Palace sneak the deal through at something close to £15m they'll  have had us over a barrel and given us a right old rogering.

    Funny, I hadn’t missed you at all…just a constant line of 2 + 2 = 5, shite…

£15m is a LOT of money to kick off the bidding with and so as I said, IF (and it’s a big IF) Palace have bid £15m a week before the window shuts, then I reckon the deal will get done. It could get done at 20 plus add ons or 25 plus % sell ons or whatever. But it will get done.

God knows if we’ll get any of it to reinvest in proper signings. We’re in ‘managed decline’ mode as far as I can see.

  2. IF Palace have offered £15m for Wharton a week before the window shuts then he’s as good as gone.

£15m is a LOT of money, they’ve got time to push it to £20m and a sizeable sell on and really importantly, no “Love for the club” could eclipse a 5x raise on your new contract.

I wouldn’t blame him and no one on here could do either.

Thats assuming the bid has gone in….

  3. I’m not saying the wider picture here isn’t very worrying. There’s an obvious managed decline here and we know where that ends…

But, how can the Travis situation shock anyone? Anyone with a set of eyes can see that Travis simply cannot do what JDT wants his pivot to do. They’re expected to play on the half turn, recieve the ball from the cb’s and be very comfortable on the ball. I fully expected him to be replaced at the first opportunity. Trondstadt has done that and the emergence of Wharton put the top hat on. But let’s get it right, Trav isn’t even first sub in that position.

Now onto the move. They can’t sell him if no one wants to buy him but it makes no sense keeping the player on huge wages and not playing him. The manager has said that Ayari isn’t his replacement. I reckon it’s O’riorden, a CM and a winger to go.

I think we’d need a full back considering the amount of time Travis and Hill have both played there. Maybe Buckley will be seen as the Travis replacement in midfield? I know he can’t really do the same role as Travis, but Garrett could.

Yeah I probably missed out a LB. We’re definitely short on that side. I read that the Crewe lad plays right side and can cover CB and RB so I can’t see us signing another after him with Brittain and JRC to come back.

fwiw - I don’t think the manager wants a player who does what Travis does. That’s the whole problem for Travis. So maybe we do have an eye on Buckley returning in March?

  5. I think the only one we need to sell is Travis. If he can’t get in this team, with one win in eight, he is better to move on. It’s best for all parties.

It looks like we’re replacing Hill with the Crewe lad.

Realistically, I’d expect us to replace Travis if we sold him and we could do with a couple of forward on Loans.

    Im going for…

4 out - Trav (sold), Hill (recall), Leonard (loan) and Markanday (Loan)

4 in (Crewe lad (buy), CM (buy /loan), 2x forwards (loan)

  6. Huge question marks around the future of Travis, our club captain who can’t get a game. The strong links to CB’s lead you to think we’re losing one. Then there’s our top scorer, SS who will be attracting admiring glances. Some suggestions on here that a bid is in for him.

Here’s my big worry…Based on evidence, I think there’s a managed decline at the club. I actually do trust GB and JDT but I don’t trust Venkys not to pull the rug from under them.

Whats the chances that we’d adequately replace the possible sales of Trav, Carter and SS whilst plugging the glaring gaps at fullback and the forward line? 🙈

      Hill  Carter  Hyam  Pickering

             JRC.    Sondre

    Brittain   Sammie  Dolan

                    Ennis

    Wharton for Hyam if injured.

Still have Wharton, Markanday, Moran and Telalovic to come on and make a difference. Feel like this could be Ennis big week. Kick off his Rovers career.

Those writing Telalovic off is plain embarrassing. Unless you’re one of the coaches then you haven’t seen this guy play and the manager has a history of keeping players out for long periods before dropping them in and them being excellent. The fact he’s not playing is likely much more to do with him adjusting and getting used to what the manager wants than him being “clearly not good enough” 🙈

           Trav / JRC  Wharton

    Hedges   Szmodics   Moran

                  Gally / Telalovic

I would actually start the same team, minus Dolan for Tuesday night assuming Trav and Gally are fit. My gut is that Trav will make it but Gally won’t.

Subs - Same as Saturday with Sondre and Gilsenan to come onto the bench If Trav and Gally don’t make it.

Bang on Chaddy - maybe Hill in for Buckley?

Tell you what though, get Siggy, Telalovic, Hill and Ennis into that squad / team and it’s looking solid and pretty exciting to me!

Dolan, Leonard and Markanday don’t even make our bench when we’re all fully fit…👀

  10. Gritty performance. We did ok other than the course 20 mins of the second half.

Pears, Brittain, Hyam, Carter Hedges and Trav were excellent. Wharton showed glimpses of his unbelievable talent but was a little sloppy overall. Gally was good when he came on and Moran looks a tidy player too…

JRC, Dolan and Leonard nowhere near the required level.

Any of the media lot asked about Buckley??

  11. Decent first half.

We’ve probably been, just about the best team…I know it’s easy to compliment Leonard following his goal but he is made like nothing we’ve had since Jordan Rhodes. His movement in the box is instinctive and he’s constantly right where he needs to be, whether we find him or not. It’s like watching a parody of Gallagher who has no idea where to be. 🤣

Other than that…Dolan wasteful and lacking in end product, Markanday showing flashes and Travis started the game well before seeming to run out of puff. Sondre looks solid and useful.

JRC is being pinned by their winger. Be a great game to bring someone like Brittain on and move JRC into midfield.

    Looking forward to seeing Ennis.

    Sorba  Travis.  Morton.  Dolan

               Szmodics  Gally

Subs - Kaminski, Brittain, Wharton, Garrett, A.Wharton, Hedges, Brereton

fwiw, I think we’ve been playing a 442 or 4411  since the World Cup break. There’s little nuance tactical plays we execute in game, like JRC or Pickering tucking inside Trav or Morton to create a midfield overload.

I like the simplicity of it all. No qualms at all with Dolan for Brereton. He rarely lets us down, works tirelessly and contributes goals and assists. Also think he and Szmodics have some chemistry with those super fast give and go’s.

  14. With so few games left, I think having a smaller squad could be a blessing. It’s all about fighting together and gaining momentum now. Create a seige mentality and roll your best XI out every game, managing energy levels as you do…Adrenalin will drive the players and they don’t want change anyway.

We have good cover everywhere other than with Travis and Gally when you’re looking like bringing in Garret, A Wharton and Leonard. In that scenario, the clubs future could lie between a Roy of the Rovers ending with Leonard scoring the winning goal at Wembley in the playoff final OR us missing out completely because we failed to sign a striker or send the reg docs in time for Lewis O’B….

    Lets see!
