No we're short of the target. On Wednesday or Thursday last week Mowbray (his most recent interview on the subject) said that he expected another 4 or possibly 5 incomings. We've had one which is Armstrong and I think most of us are quite happy and impressed with that piece of business. Nonetheless that leaves at least another 3 to reach Mowbray's target. A CF, CB and winger for me.
One more addition from here and I think the jury would still be out on whether we are any stronger than we were last season, depending on the calibre of that particular arrival. 3 or 4 additions of the calibre of Armstrong and Palmer and we would all agree that we were stronger than last season, as we need to be.
I agree those are the 3 positions I would bring in. However “at least one more” implies to me the club are trying to do 2 more permanent buys and 1 loan. But if 1 of those permanents doesn’t come off then we’ll do a loan with a view to buy. This leaves Sharpe in the dark a bit I suppose.

Sharpe has said that the club is hopeful of at least one more perm signing before Thursday. Which doesn't sound too great as I think we need 3 as a minimium.
Sharpe said Armstrong was unlikely on thursday afternoon.........

Does anyone think Bauer isn’t staying at Charlton?

Or possibly somewhere between the 2, Rev. Newcastle were playing hardball. We didn't want to overpay. We couldn't agree on how to structure payments. His agent was wanting to squeeze just a bit more out of the deal. Who knows?
He’ll invent anything to fit his agenda.

Isn’t it strange how the people who shit on signings are also usually the first to say “oh well we’re going to lose him next summer” when proven wrong!

The lad hasn’t kicked a Championship football in blue and white and people are saying he isn’t good enough! Can we just give people a chance please.

That takes spending to £2.5 million. Wonder how much there is left. I wouldn’t blow all my budget on Armstrong if I was TM.

How many did we concede when that shyster Coyle was in charge that season ? I don't see the point of being economical with the facts. You're not a teacher are you ?
Exactly, under Coyle! We currently aren’t managed by Coyle thank the lord and so I’m going to wait to criticise TM when and if it becomes a recurring theme under his management. So far it hasn’t. We’ve actually come out on the good side of late goals during his tenure.

Is there an article for this quote. I hadn't seen this one. Was it that he expects 1500 more season tickets as a whole for this season?
-
Here’s to hopefully a chaotic week on the ins front. What’s fascinating is that we really don’t know who the club are targeting but Waggott said he expected to shift 1500 season tickets so it better not be Clough, Beevers and Gallagher!
-
In the 15 games of the 16/17 season that TM had we scored 2 after 85 minutes and conceded 2!
-
I would say Armstrong plus 2 more this week then one more in the loan only window. That would be 7 overall with 5 permanent and 2 loans.
-
So I think we are going to see 3 in this week including Armstrong. Mowbray said last week that we might see a loan further on into August. Hopefully we can bring in Bauer, Maddison, Armstrong and then a big lump to stick up front on loan.
-
Last season we scored 8 goals from 85 minutes onwards. We conceded 5 from 85 minutes onwards. We come out on the favourable side more often than the opposition in terms of late goals and that is a fact! I read somewhere that 15% of goals come after 85 mins! It means that we are bound to concede some late goals as well as score some also.

Not surprised to see some on here moaning already about Armstrong, after a poster said “99% would approve”. What do some of you expect? £10 million striker signings? If not then apply for a scouting role down at brockhall and advise TM who to bring in. Time to put up or shut up.

Preston fans are so adamant (get it) that he's joining them on loan with option to purchase
That was from lSt night I was meant to send it but phone bugged out on me
If we’re offering cash upfront then he’ll be coming here over Preston.

Basically Sharpe has not denied that we are now in for Armstrong. As I said the other day, I couldn’t see anything being confirmed until Monday at the earliest. I think Nixon would only put his neck on the line like that if he was confident of not getting any egg on his face.

I remember the initial appraisal of Dack was far from universal approval. If he signs let’s judge him by his actions in a Rovers shirt.

Clough is a luxury player IMO and with Dack and Palmer we have enough attacking players to join up with Graham. We need another out and out striker, ideally someone who can run in behind to give us different options. Clough isn't someone who you see stretching a back line, that's what we are desperately lacking at the moment.
I highly doubt Clough would be the only attacking addition. Still think we’ll bring in an out and out striker.
-
You’ve got to think that Dack, Palmer, Clough and Graham would cause some problems!

He would be ok on loan with a view to sign in our favor, lad seems to have lost his way a bit. One of them moves that could be great or a disaster
Don’t think it would be a loan. Forest want to sell.

Would anyone be happy with Clough? How much would we have to pay?

The problem then however is that this time next year we will need at least 2 strikers of sufficient quality. Graham might well be moving on after this season or no longer be able to perform, the loan you want will go back to his parent club, and Samuel and Nuttall might be surplus to requirements.
That's why we need an heir to Graham now, to come in and play this season. Bringing in a loan to play 2nd fiddle is just delaying things until next season when it will have to be addressed on a bigger scale.
As far as I'm concerned we need at least one striker now to call our own who we build around and who shares responsibilities with Graham. Ship Nuttall out on loan and see how he goes on. Give Samuel a chance when possible and make a decision on him and then next summer we make decisions on Graham and Samuel whilst still having someone else to fall back on.
Completely agree with that.
Thursday deadline.

That’s them relegated back to league 2 then. Did a great job there. Held the club together.
