Remember James Thomas? Scored in league cup.. Then scored in his league debut.. Never to be seen again.
Games to give academy a chance? Ha! What chance?

That's why I hoping we get 2 or 3 players in on loan to buy in January but depends on who the players are.
You seen the LT article this morning I posted.
Maybe suggest some potential Loan targets. But no reason to start discussing Hodgson time here which was 20 years ago. Yes 20 years. Why not set up a different thread to discussing Hodgson time here instead of posting in this thread?
Dont tell me what to do young man! Is this your board? Ideas above your station fella.

Turns 48 Today. Signed for Rovers as a 22 year old from Southampton. Unreal how time moves on. I feel so old I could cry.

Hodgson at the time.. 'There are too many riders on the funds to spend to make it interesting'
At the time, these were cryptic words. It is now known JW preferred young talent that would have a resale value. This ruled out players over 25 years old it is believed. RH wanted well known established internationals.

I'm sorry but Kevin Davies WAS a dolloper at Rovers, relative to price and expectation. We wouldn't have had to sell him back for a fraction of the price, only for him to be released by Southampton a further 4 years down the line, otherwise. Simply because he eventually went on to be a good player at a middling Prem team that suited him, several seasons after he played for us, does not rewrite history.
We were trying to get back in the elite at the time (a level he never reached) and he was our record buy at the time, being talked about as a new Shearer. Is it any wonder our fans deemed his 1 goal return in a season we got relegated as anything other than dolloping? Lost Beattie in the deal too.
Kevin f*%£ing Davies. Please. One of the worst deals we ever did. Still angry about it
Blame Jack Walker. Hodgson wanted to sign proven experience.

Apparently there was talk in Birmingham of them bidding for Gallagher towards the end of July, one of the sites/papers had a fans' poll......
Would you want him back ?
48% Yes
52% No
No idea how many fans took part, but pretty close, looks like the Brexit result.
Apologies if this has already been posted somewhere.
Didn't score too many at brum, but intellegent fans would have noticed other aspects, such as his all round play and seen promise there.
A bit like our numpty fans looked at Kevin Davies and saw a dolloper.. Whereas an intelligent football man like Sam allardyce saw something else entirely.

We'd get Gallagher for 3m.. We won't though.. Loan at best.

Been to pride park on a break from work(driver).. Seemed out of the way on a retail estate.. Not somewhere you'd ride past on the way to somewhere..
Maybe my memory is playing tricks though.

Millwalls 2nd against the post they just ambled through.. Didn't even have to work to create the chance.. Shocking.

I genuinely thought the football was awful.. I took the dogs out. Couldn't take any more of it.

The situation is as unclear than its ever been since Mowbray came to the club. As much as you’d like to, please don’t bend the rhetoric to fit your argument.
You made another point before saying it was the “worst performance” you’d seen including Coyle. Assuming you weren’t here for the Kean era when we went three home games without a shot on target? Or if you remember a time where Akpan and Lowe were our midfield linchpins? Assuming also that you didn’t come to our first two home games in League 1 either?
We were off the pace on Saturday for the first 30 minutes and then grew into a game where the 8th best team in the league needed their keeper to make 4 (Dack free kick, 2 x DG one on one & Rothwell rocket) great saves and an mom performance to stop us from trouncing them.
No one is happy with the transfer situation and come Sep 1st I’m sure there will be an autopsy. What worries me is that we had money to spend but were unable to spend it. But now is not the time to simply make stuff up.
My 'Rhetoric' is anti Venkys. Always will be. We will never progress with them as owners. On our way back? You must be joking.

All things being equal.. The simplest explanation is usually the correct one.. TM being fcked about from those on high.

I don't believe for one second any deal will be loan-to-buy.. The picture is becoming clear now and its pointing to the same old story.

I think Mowbray is just be over cautious with his comments about loan signings. Hopefully we been working on loan deals since last Thursday night. I think Mowbray abit burnt that signings werent done last week.
So even you are suggesting things haven't gone as hoped? Wonders will never cease!

Not hopeful at all of incomings, and that first half v Millwall is as poor as I've seen us, inc Coyle. Dire stuff.

Maybe that's because he hasn't found the right player within our budget to play that Role.
I mean he brought Whittingham in last season to presumably play deep lying playmaker
The USA player he wanted? Defensive midfielder. Its how he sees it.

For 5 minutes he did, he played left wing for 70 minutes.
Point being, in our set up, the two in the middle are defensive midfielders. TM will never play a creative player in that role, so you may as well accept it. We played that way all last season, so thought you'd be used to it by now.

Then why is bennett playing there? Dack can only do so much when our CM’s dont possess the quality to actually get the ball to him.
Bennett played in the 2 in the middle?

If we all thought like that we'd be dead before we achieve anything. I think we should be aiming for a season where we rarely have to look over our shoulders as a minimum.
Its a tough championship this year to be expecting that.
We've just played two of what you'd expect will be the lesser teams, and been well matched. Against sides you'd think will be top half, it will be very tough.

In my opinion, decent performance, Graham unlucky twice, Dack looked good and should/could have 2 assists for Graham’s chances and unlucky not to bury the freekick. Palmer and Rothwell promising.
Full backs refused to get forward once for some reason, (under instructions not to?) and bennett is devoid of anything that isn’t work rate.
And as i argued on the transfer forum, to no avail it seemed, doesn’t matter how many midfielders we have, if Smallwood/Evans combination is the best we can muster, we simply have to sign another one, if not 2, neither capable of passing the ball anywhere remotely forward.
They arent there to be creative. Our front 4 are.

In your opinion.
If we emulate Bolton last season, that would be success.

Mid table.
That would be great. Overachieving.
