Suspect it will be a summer full of business required unless some contracts can get sorted. You look at Preston, they got into a right mess with key players all having a year left, and theyve had to sell Pearson, Davies and Fisher for probably half a million combined, having to patch up their team with loanees.

Unless we can get Armstrong, Lenihan and with their year extensions in our favour, Nyambe and maybe Rothwell signed up, we will need to try and get fees for them. The first 3 especially will take some replacing.

There is also Rankin Costello who it makes sense to sign up, and then there are players like Holtby and Johnson who the jury is out as to whether they will warrant another deal. Throw in 5 returning loanees and then Bell, Williams and Bennett who can be allowed to go, and Wharton who could be injured into next season, and plenty to do.

Armstrong is currently being negotiated, Johnson i wouldn't offer a new deal too cayse after next season I doubt he will be as useful, JRC will sign, if Wharton is still injured then maybe that will mean we may keep one of carter or magliore for cover

  2. With the transfer window shut again and a successful one at that I thought we could take a look into what we will have at our disposal for when pre season starts in late June, looking at what options miwbray will have and what sort of players could possibly be added and who could go out on loan

    Goalkeepers: kaminski, Pears, stergiakis, eastham

Central defenders: lenihan, ayala, Wharton, Carter, magliore

    Right back: nyambe, pike, JRC

    Left back: pickering, Thompson

Central midfielders: travis, Johnson, Davenport, dack, rothwell, lyons, Buckley

Wingers: dolan, brereton, rothwell, JRC, Vale, butterworth

    Strikers: Armstrong, brereton, Gallagher, butterworth

In the Goalkeeping department kaminski is the best since brad friedel nothing more has to be said, pears was pointless 300k for a keeper as bad as leuitweiler didn't cost much less than kaminski and happens to be mowbrays mates son from Middlesbrough I will never understand that signing but leaves us the ability to loan out the young keepers, eastham is the best young keeper I've seen for his age, I'm impressed with him everytine i watch him his distribution is what I expect from a brazillian or Spaniard, he's an asset and will be a long term replacement for kaminski, would like to see him loaned out along with the greek lad or Hilton again. The future looks bright for keepers

What system mowbray plays between now and May could determine our recruitment in tbe summer, will he stick to the status quo ? Or change to a back 3 to accommodate our new defenders ? Half a season i doubt will be enough for city abd Everton to judge weather their lads are better than the championship should they perform just like it aint enough for us to judge if carter and magliore are ready for us so I would like to think we access them in pre season before loaning them out for a season cayse then should we still be playing championship football come summer 22 then I believe they will be ready to step up, took Wharton a few loans in L1 and 2 to be ready, should that happen then it would leave us with 3 defenders which isn't enough, should we continue with 4 at the back then we would need to add another defender again hopefully one of branthwaite or THB should their loan end a success but shoukd we adopt a 3 at the back system like we think then bring both back or maybe one and opt for an experienced defender on a permanent.

In terms of midfield with travis, Johnson davenport it leaves us well equipped in the defensive side of it even lyons loves a tackle. with holtby out of contract and I have a feeling he won't sign and opt back to Germany for family reasons then it leaves us short in a creative role with only Buckley who arguably needs a loan out anyway able to play that role so thats where mowbray will likely look to recruit, should we stick to 433 dack will play in that free role, and wisely mowbrsy will judge weather to go with the travis/johnson/davenport combination in 2 holding mid roles and dack or rothwell in the free role or one of the 3 again with rothwell and dack on who we are playing. Either way I expect that we will recruit 1 or 2 midfielders again as I expect downing will retire and Evans, bennett, trybul leaving.

On the wing or left abd right attack whichever way mowbray puts it when you look at the options we have and their actual positions we are lacking, of course this won't matter much if we do go with wing backs as the only genuine wingers we have are dolan, JRC,vale even butterworth and of course brereton has adapted and only JRC would fit in the wing back role on either side, but there is also the option of a 523 system which will be provide a good flexible option to change into during games like for example if mowbray decides to sacrifice a midfielder or striker to opt with wingers.

we are good for strikers, weather vale is ready depends on his Rochdale loan but again he's one that will need to be accessed in pre season before judgment takes place on weather he should go back out cause again I think he will be one solid season out on loan from being ready should we still be playing championship football in summer 2022, weather we need to recruit a proven goalscorer depends on Armstrong being here, brereton of course an option and like brereton I would like to see Gallagher played as a striker, like brereton again he's been harshly criticised when he's played out of position, but with gally he can't adapt to that role, he does not have the pace, technique nor ability to master a wing role but certainly has the effort and chips in with the odd goal but in reality he should be a plan B or impact sub like Danny Graham after all he was brought in as long term replacement for him, in my opinion we should adopt the 532 system big man little man combination upfront with arma and brereton or gally upfront with the ability and depth to switch to 523/353/5311 whenever necessary to use our wingers, but should we continue to use the current system/systems I expect us to bring in 1 or 2 wingers

Ideal ins: douglas/left back CMx2, striker, winger or more depending on system

Ideal outs: carter (loan), magliore (loan) vale (loan) butterworth (loan) lyons (loan), Buckley (loan)

    My ideal lineup 21/22 ?

    Kaminski

    RCB Lenihan

    CB New defender

    CB Wharton

    RWB Nyambe

    LWB pickering

    CM Travis

    CM rothwell

    CM Dack

    ST Armstrong

    ST Brereton

Subs: pears, ayala, douglas/new leftback,JRC, davenport, Johnson, Dolan, Gallagher, new striker

    Thoughts?

They'll not fill the corners in for the same reason they didn't in the first place when the stadium was rebuilt.

The PNE or WBA stand is the way forwards though, get it a bit smaller capacity wise but closer to the pitch and with other facilities incorporated.

Totally agree hopefully steeper even though the wba one seems pointless its got like 10 rows, I really wanna see a club museum though, I would even even develop the shop too make it 2 floored with a cafe upstairs and make blues bar drinks only

I'd like to replace the Riverside in a way that reduces the current capacity. The ground is too big as it is. I seem to recall Preston's new stand is around 3.5k.

I'd like to see it right up against the pitch.

Also I would like to see the corners filled in, in some way (not by seats) as the gaps have a big negative effect in atmosphere.

I know that the open corners is supposed to help with the health of the pitch (!!!!), but  I'm sure in this day and age there are ways of somehow opening and closing any barrier that fills the corners in.

Given that we would only average 25k in the Prem or 15k in Champ, out of a 30k stadium, we need to do all we can to help the atmosphere and the feeling of a fuller ground.

Corners can be filled in like one of them ar derby cooperate boxes and studios etc a club museum between blackburn end and Riverside with a balcony to look out into the stadium would be great and I agree maybe downsize to 3 5k maybe slightly more bring it level with the other stands like at pne and also match

Do you have any evidence to back up that claim?

Waggotts main brief was to grow the fan base - how has that one worked out? I can't think of one positive benefit he has brought during his time here. If you can I'd be glad to hear them.

He told me in person, he's been at the clubsjop on match days talking to fans a few times so I've spoken to him on 1 or 2 occasions

Some interesting ideas there, but the reality is that until the current game-changing conditions for everyone are resolved, there is no point speculating on possibilities, as an endemic pandemic means ongoing uncertainty over facilities where groups of people gather together. It makes me wonder what the future of the game is, when I watch teams playing in massive but conspicuously empty stadia (including Ewood). Ceteris paribus (all things being equal) a return to some kind of normality would be great, and there does seem to be the space to develop the ground adjacent to the Darwen end perhaps for an Academy facility, but in my mind that is a loooonnnngg way off.

I thought before its an idea for an academy facility there

The pitch has to be sorted first i think is an absolute priority now so the stand and even the fabled 'deep clean' might have to wait. Get the pitch done then surely this fantastic football it's stopping us from playing will see us promoted.

Then get the Riverside done and it'd be like the dawn of a new era hopefully so lets just pull out all the stops for a season in top flight again. Its so vital for this club and then we should be able to see if all the talk is just that.

Sadly i think sitting in upper mid in this division is very comfortable for quite a few down there.

The pitch is being replaced in the summer, 2m its costing

Waggott says a lot of things, but in reality he’s spent his tenure downsizing.

Get out of this pandemic and see how it all settles down, employ a forward thinking leadership team that actually understand the fanbase - coupled with owners that love signing those cheques (infrastructure doesn’t impact FFP, remember), and who knows. But I won’t be holding my breath.

Stadium development has no impact on ffp

Tbf to him him he's done a good job, plans have already been drawn up for a new stand

  10. As most of us realise ewood needs to be cleaned up and certain developments to be constructed I'm curious to see others thoughts ?

The Riverside is becoming more and more tired by the year and I've spoken to waggot on a couple of occasions and he's mentioned the will to build a new stand, featuring facility's that can make money even on none matchday, woukd be ideal to build around a 4k seater brought to the pitch with disabled facility's, a club museum and cafe. Last time I looked round tbe back of the stand there was old advertising boards just dumped there which is something I expect to see in non league not at a former Premier league club with what was a state of the art stadium.

I know also there was plans for a new 4g pitch ti be installed on the Darwen end car park next to the indoor centre as part of the new developments that have took place there but it seems them plans have been shelved

I will like to add also the idea of a mini ground at Brockhall for the academy teams and maybe the ladies, seems to be a modern thing now clubs having smaller grounds for their academy especially, all it takes is a little stand with seats and floodlights ans certain matchday facility's, obviously it couldn't be like what city have done or even Chelsea when they have a FL standard ground for their youth teams and ladies but something like what Fulham and Leicester have would be very ideal to host under 18s and 23s games, only thing is is that Brockhall is a bit awkward to get too at that time of night, no public transport after a certain time but would be a nice idea none the less, saves us paying rent elsewhere. In hindsight rovers could have bought the old great Harewood town ground and brought it to standards and used it for the development team and ladies

Can we rise above the dark arts of Nathan Jones? The last two games against Luton have left a sour taste in the mouth and he also frustrated us in the 0-0 with Stoke last season. In true Keegan style I would love it if we beat them, preferably with ease to restore a bit of morality. I have no problem with managers who set up to frustrate but if it crosses the line then it’s unacceptable and we’ve seen this twice from Luton. With a strong referee (not holding my breath) then hopefully we will be allowed to flourish.

Last 3 you mean, shithoused us twice last season 2 goals from nothing at ewoid despite our dominance and a poor ref giving luton everything even a unfairly disallowed goal i think it was and then at Luton we lost to 2 own goals and a penalty then robbed away at Luton again by poor officials so we came away with a draw rather than a deserved win

  13. Venkys will not have trusted mowbray and co to bring in these signings to just improve on last season, a victory against a strong Watford tomorrow night will send a clear message and give us a big boost and for sure make things very rosey at ewood,  we need to go to Watford all guns glazing, i would put a couple new lads straight in cause Watford won't be prepared, my team would be this, the pace will cause Watford serious problems

                              Kaminski

         Nyambe      lenihan   ayala     douglas

               Johnson       holtby      rothwell

                Dolan      Armstrong    elliot

Subs: pears, Williams bell, trybul, buckley, brereton, Gallagher

  14. One year left on the umbro contract, if I have the pleasure of coming across waggot again I will be letting him know my thoughts on kits and stadium. We wanna be moving onto kappa or hummel and producing designs to them that the fans love, we are a club that loves our history and tradition manufactures and the club should be taking that into account, after all we are the ones who pay over 100 quid a season to have them, if next season they produce red and black halves then season after stripes they will sell like golddust then the season after go to yellow and blue or navy blue with a 3rd strip, either way they need to listen to what fans want cause that's what will sell.

What I hear is that this seasons away is red and bits of blue I would have hoped the blue would be black

Looked a lot better on. Really nice blue colour, some interesting details in the shorts and socks, and something a little different in general. The away kit will make or break this years designs.

Away kit is red with bits of blue

  16. Think people are looking too much into it, it's a weird one competitive game in pre season, not easy but as we know a left back and centre back is needed then we look at a box to box midfielder fir balance as rothwell does not suit the midfield role he's too inconsistent, wharton is deffo a good 3rd choice so we dont need 2 centre halves, dolan quality chapman needs to graft cause he's got till Jan to prove himself otherwise his career at this level is over, attitude and laziness again playing a part, fisher is ok specially considering he's hardly played  for months

  17. Brereton showing his capabilities, out of position all the time and young yet still shows glimpses of what he can do with the backing from fans and the manager, easthams distribution brilliant again, Fisher better, Dolan as sharp as ever, we defended brilliantly from the front again it didnt feel like a friendly, when you have players like chapman, arma and Dolan up top who can really pressure the opposition back line and keepers that have lead to us catching them out and scoring in the last two games it can work wonders if we can keep up that airt of work rate and tempo this season

  18. The ground has started to become a state over the last few years, the outsides of the staves are dirty need cleaning and smartening urgently, if you walk round the backs of the riverside there is old crap dumped there, seats fading, the seats should be changed to royal blue and white anyway  to lighten the place up for starters like what Sunderland did, no initiative at this club wagon needs to pull his finger out cause the stadium can make a difference when it comes to recruiting players and sponsors cause atm ewood is looking like some league 1 standard shithole like turf moor in ways when its always been a great premiership standard stadium

    Sort it out waggot ffs
