As with a couple of his other big hits, EC's was actually a cover version. The original was by a guy called George Jones in the very early 70s.
Yes, I think the whole album 'Almost Blue' consisted of cover versions of C/W classics he recorded in Nashville.

Probably my favourite item is a copy of Harry Berry's Centenary history of the Rovers, signed by Sir Roger Jones. The only Rovers autograph I ever remember queuing up for.

The young lad in Dalziel and Pascoe was uncannily like Alan Shearer.

missed the game due to my dad insisting i go to work with him, spent the day chipping paint off a metal gate🙄,paled into insignificence compared to events in sheffield.Always nice to see john bond, hero to rovers fans everywhere, what a top bloke!!!!!
Remind me why John Bond is a hero? (My memory is going...) I just remember slagging him off on Blackburn Station after that match when John Bailey took the piss out of Peter Osgood so much that Osgood chinned him and got sent off. The glorious days of the newly christened 'AFC Bournemouth', I think.

Cobbled streets, tramlines, terraced houses and a fiver to get in... what's not to like.
Wasn't it re-named 'Hovis Corner' tongue-in-cheek after they shot a TV ad there sometime?

Can we have some more of these Dickens gags please?
Q: Do you like Dickens?
A: I don't know, I've never been to one.
(Must have pulled a Christmas cracker early this year.)
Merry Christmas all.

I didn't go to that one for some reason, but I remember my dad coming home from the match and telling me the Rovers played like they'd all eaten too much Christmas pudding!

That was the classic 'Tesco Bag' kit in all its glory. Sumptuous!

Went to this game at Bath City's ground which I'm sure had the dimensions of a Primary School pitch - it was tiny. Horrible journey down and back up the M5. Also went to Port Vale and Barnsley away around that time and lost both those. We were in freefall but Kenny managed to turn things round. Still can't believe we lost these 3 away games with the quality of players we had.
I went to that as well. Horrible dump of a ground and equally horrible cocky Bristolian gits/supporters.

I just wish Mowbray would feck off.
Sick and tired of what, IMO, is just bullsh1t, followed by more bullsh1t.
Sadly, our owners and happy clappers seem to buy it.
Four years ago Sheffield Utd were in League One, too, and had been for seven years. But somehow they managed to get promoted to the Prem in their SECOND season back in the Championship.

Probably just feeling like a bit of an outsider.

Looks like the mighty Blackburn Rovers, six-time winners, might be exiting the FA Cup whilst local rivals Chorley march on into the 4th round.
Hey ho.
