    Bit arrogant.

Not in the slightest. Rovers supporters of my 'ilk', admittedly rather an ageing one, still think - quite rightly - that it's an affront to the history of our club that we are even in the same division as a tinpot, johnny-come-lately, utter flipping nonentity of an outfit such as "The Hatters".

  2. My mum was from Chorley so we used to visit quite a bit back in the day. We were there one Saturday and the Magpies were playing a league club (I think) in the FA Cup. My older cousin took me along to the match. I was only a nipper, probably the first time I'd been to a match apart from Ewood. We walked to the ground and I said 'Where do we get in?' My cousin proceeded to pick me up, step over a low hedge, and said 'We're in.'

    Unpopular opinion... Craig Bellamy.

Whenever he was clean through it was a certain goal.

I was watching the Rovers once at White Hart Lane when Shearer was in his pomp. Late on it was 2-2, although we should have been winning. The ball got lumped diagonally from our left back right into the inside right channel, virtually at Shearer's feet. I saw the Spurs fans on the other 3 sides get up as one man and head for the exits, as everyone knew there could only be one result - a Shearer goal and a Rovers win. And so it proved.

  4. I lived in Shepherds Bush once upon a time and I can remember watching  Brian Moore on the Saturday lunchtime footy preview programme. The big news was that Rodney Marsh had gone awol and was not expected to play that afternoon because of a row with the manager. I walked round the corner to my local and found Rodney downing what was quite clearly not his first pint. Or last one for that matter. What a geezer!

Rovers: Pears, Nyambe, Lenihan (c), Williams, Rankin-Costello, Trybull, Evans, Holtby, Elliott, Armstrong, Brereton.

Substitutes: Stergiakis, Gallagher, Chapman, Davenport, Buckley, Wharton, Dolan.

I think I might paint some architrave this afternoon, after all.

If you do, can I watch the paint dry?

  6. In the early years of the Prem I went to watch Rovers at QPR in a night match. The famous 'bloke behind me' was giving Mark Atkins totally undeserved dog's abuse all through - and then Atko scored. I couldn't help but say to him "Why are you cheering now?  You've been slagging him off all the game!" He came out with the old balls about having followed Rovers for years and therefore was entitled to verbally shit on anyone. It got me even more wound-up and I ended up having to be held back from having a pop by my neutral Glaswegian mate. (Most unlike mild-mannered Elvis's behaviour, I can assure you). Next day at work my mate, (who'd never been to a match with me until then) was telling everyone how 'He's a different bloke at the footy - Never seen anything like it - They score and then start fighting one another!"

One of the squad changes is apparently a fit again Ayala coming in. I have already said I would play him because of Lucas Joao's height.

That doesn't look like an impervious Reading defence to me but we'd better watch ourselves for that guy who can hit it like a train from near the half way line!

On Saturday Holtby and Johnson had eight attempts between them and zero on target. If those two can up their accuracy to just 50% on target we should be ok tomorrow night.

Agreed. And there's some genuinely piss-poor defending from Rotherham.
