He was certainly the "golden child" of his year (2018-2020). It was obvious from within, that he was the hope of that (average?) crop.

For record, his class was Luke Brennan, Dan Pike, Jalil Saadi, Jordan Eastham, Enzo Boyomo (who is doing well over in Spain), James Connolly, Chanka Zimba, Sam Burns and Sam Durrant. Not exactly the class of '92.

Disregard all the others I’d like to know your view on Whitehall. It doesn’t matter the ability of the other boys from his intake. What matters is how good the golden boy is. The boy has had bad luck with injuries, I want to see if he still the real deal.

Whitehall's contract expires in the summer...

From the limited time he got today he still looks the real deal. He needs regular game time to the end of the season and hopefully he can get a one year deal to see if he injury nightmare is over. He would certainly give the first team some different options. Keep going Issac.

as a kid i used to hate having to going shopping on a saturday morning ,only the thought of a glass of sasparella saved the trip from complete misery💓

Summer was a glass of sasparella from Walsh’s stall and chatting to Peter and his mum. Going even further back when it was an open air market my mum used to buy me a hot Vimto when the weather was bad. There’s still nothing better on a cold wet day than a hot vimto.

When we have so many young players in our 1st team squad, I guess it follows that our youth teams are going to  be on the end of some pastings.

If the youngsters are going to move up through the u18’s u21’s and get to the first team squad they have to learn from the toughest games. What’s better for their development? Beating teams 5 or 6 nil, or taking a beating? The players that get disheartened are maybe not the ones who’ll make it to the first team. I’m sure the youth coaches are working with the youngsters to improve them. Bear in mind that as you say they will be younger than the opposition so the key is to keep them motivated, and I’m sure improvements will come as the season progresses.

  5. I remember going to Ewood in the 60’s with my dad and mum. The old man being brought up on teams from the 50’s thought he was not Rovers quality. He could block balls through and kick the opposing forwards. But he was never going to get the Rovers back into the top division.
Sorry John to hear your passing but not a Rovers great.

Pat Gamble given senior shirt no. 15, seems unusual for a player who hasn't made a first team appearance yet. How close to the first team squad does he look? I don't get to watch the u21s very often living down on the south coast.

I watch u21’s at home when they don’t clash with the first team. In my opinion he’s a long way off being ready for a senior debut. He’s too slow and his distribution is not good enough.

Best of luck for tomorrow, hope it goes well.

I’m being dragged round Middlebrook shopping with the Wife on Saturday, I know where I would rather be 😂

If she’s taking you shopping on Saturday, surely she should go with you to Stockport tonight. Quid pro quo! If not tell her to catch the train to Reebok.👍

Back before my first marriage I took a young lady to a lovely restaurant in Annecy.

I completely lost it on the cheese board- Epoisses, Vacherin de Mont d'or and Reblochon all in their most perfect gooey stinky perfection accompanied by a perfectly golden Sauternes.

Poor girl realised cheese could give me far more pleasure than ever she could.

So you didn’t discover her love of the taste of of freshly prepared cheese desert!!!

From video footage, he looks a big lad with an impressive turn of pace.

I might be wrong but I have a recollection of him having injury troubles.

He’s not that tall, but he’s thick set. Seen him when he’s played for the u21’s and he’s very strong. He really needs regular game time, perhaps a loan until January and then review his progress.

    1. Criticising the standard of women’s football isn’t misogynistic.

    2. No one has said women shouldn’t play sports.

Yes it is, they are making direct comparisons between women’s football and men’s. Men are good, women are bad.

if we don’t support them interest will fall off and we can go back to clubs only catering for “real football” played by men. Comparisons between the two games only breeds ridicule. Do these posters compare men and women in other sports, tennis, swimming, athletics? Women’s football is about 22 women competing and the excitement and drama is still there.

  11. The posters should read through the misogynistic comments they’ve wrote. I have two young granddaughters that I will encourage to take up sport. Just because some sports have been the preserve of men doesn’t mean that watching and encouraging women to play them isn’t enjoyable. Women aren’t as fast as men so athletics/tennis should be just male. They can’t swim as fast so why should they learn to swim? There are some really pathetic comments on this thread.

When Neil Warnock was manager at Palace, I remember he and his wife boarding a Northern line tube just before Christmas loaded down with presents in Hamley's wrapping.

Warnock was wearing a shell suit - and there was a toy Aston Martin poking out of his pocket.

Thanks for confirming what I suspected some 15 years ago!

Was it the big end sticking out of his pocket?

Scott Wharton getting a bit of stick on here but he played 2 quality passes that were key to both goals.

Scott is a very good CB, what he lacks at the moment is the correct decision making. For the second goal he could have done better to have knocked the ball out for a throw-in and then secondly continued to push their forward away from goal instead of bringing him down. It’s not down to his ability which is great it’s his mental/concentration approach to the game that he needs to improve.
    I’m sure he’ll make it.

Yeah right, show us yer medals

Just because he was a fine player and good manager for Rovers doesn't mean he doesn't talk sense at times.

And fans as paying members of the public and football supporters are just as entitled to their views as ex-players and managers

    What are your medals Jimbob?

Souness came out with some crap this morning on talksport that Bellingham has only had a good 6 months.  He's been superb for dortmund for the past 3 years. Some of his views on players is beyond delusional

That’s your view, what experience of true world class football do you have? How many league titles/FA Cups/European Cups have you won? He’s forgotten more than we’ve known about how to be a great footballer. Bellingham is an exceptional talent, but what Souness is saying is one swallow doesn’t make a summer. He has to maintain his form over the long term.

Bigger, better, played at a higher level for longer. The best keeper in the World Cup in Japan/South Korea. I liked Roger Jones but Tim Flowers was better and Jim Arnold and Terry Gennoe were as good.

    It’s difficult to judge two players from different eras. What I would say in Sir Rogers defence is;

He didn’t get the chance to play in the top league until the end of his career.

He must be a similar height to Raya and therefore as size goes was good enough to be at the top league.

He was several generations before other goalies, as he enjoyed being a sweeper keeper.

i loved big Brad, but there will always be a place in my heart for our Roger.

    Wow interesting that one.

I guess his parents were looking after his welfare very carefully and maybe being a Rovers family helped.

    Good on them though.

Tonight is the sort of game, where I love a home grown player and fan playing. It is Dunn mark too, in terms of recent times and hope he can break their hearts like Dunny did.

LeftWinger was writing about Bellingham at Birmingham!

Pears is so indecisive, and that is transmitted to the players infront of him. He has no command of his box, a lot of times he doesn't seem to call for the ball, and when he does call, it seems like the outfield players don't trust him. You don't have to concede to have a bad game. Same as you can concede and still have a good game.

Think you’re being a bit harsh there rigger. Hyam and Carter had their worst game. Hyam took out Pickering on the second half and their loss of control and poor passing was evident all through the game. The whole team are not mentally strong enough. The young players will learn from this experience.

I think you probably mean Mick Heaton (RIP) who had a sports shop in Brownhill.

Bloody predictive texting! Of course it was Mick Heaton. It’s just done it again. I’ve just had to go back and change it. Also used to see Sir Roger Jones down Quebec Road.

I’d say “Young Adam looks a player!” and they’d say “He’s really good. But his attitude isn’t brilliant, last month he stormed off the pitch after getting caught in training.”

I’m an awfully lot older than you, and in my time I’ve come across players that actually lived in Blackburn. Kit Napier played darts in the Corporation on Revidge with my old man. I bought football boots from Mick Heston. They never spoke of what happened on the training ground or the other players attitudes. Given today’s social media I just don’t believe any player would make such comments.

Players that are pissed off because they are jealous of the lad’s ability. Rebekah Vardy tells a good story!
