Simon should have played for one of the top teams. I know QPR were a mid table side, but he was so much better than that. I’m sure if he had been at Arsenal/Tottenham/etc he would have been in the England squads. Great player, Adam has the potential to be at least as good. I’ve watched him and Garrett for the last couple of years in the youth teams they both have a great future as long as agents don’t fuck them about.

Now now, if we wanted the thread to be ruined me and RevBlue would start debating.
As a side note if you mention ANY reference to politics outside of the WDWY section it comes with a warning. Consider this your red flag, danger ahead…
I been wondering for ages what’s WDWY?

Subutteo.
His tactics would be too neanderthal for Subutteo, he would drop his goal keeper and allow him to move for a fraction of his value, expect his centre forward to play on the wing and his aging midfield player play as a false number nine.

Please tell me it won't be every post, every day, over and over and over and over again for the next 20 years.
Mowbray played Bradley Johnson as a false 9🤬

JDT ha changed formations once to protect the lead at Swansea. It worked a treat. Surely good management? Beats putting Gally at wing-back or Dack at false 9 and hoping for the best, but then losing.
Surely you can see the difference?.
More like Bradley “no legs” Johnson as the false nine. Total knob, who should have gone after promotion. Then he could have been looked at favourably. He should take his mate Maggot to the North East I’m sure Gibson needs an experienced CEO at Middlesbrough.

Hope Van den Berg is as good as another CB who played for Preston who joined us GH. God of a CB wished we’d got him earlier is his career.

It was just a joke.
And anyway, my bible is 'Blackburn Rovers: The Complete Record' 😉
The twelve tribes of Israel wandered in the wilderness for 40 years I hope we don’t follow suit as I’ll be pushing up the daisies. After the last three years of Mowbray’s reign it’s good to feel we are on the right path to the promised land.

Kenny Sansom never lost his powers, or are you thinking of Ray Ranson?
Refer back to your bible. The geezer going out with Delilah. Also great film with Victor Mature.

Both fair points re Pears, but presumably he is considered as TK's understudy having been named as sub keeper in JDT's first 2 squads, would be bizarre to then choose Hilton over Pears for a 1st round cup game v lower league 2 opposition.
Also, remember that before the Wigan fiasco, he had looked fairly handy (pun intended) & was an important part of the 6 game run of clean sheets.
Being the sub doesn’t mean he was an important part of the team. I know he played against Bournemouth, but the defence was immense in that game. He doesn’t instill confidence in the supporters or the defenders in front of him. Moggadon and Waggott should be paying his wages as he’s not fit for purpose.

Martin who? He thinks he’s Pep, when he’s just the same a Moggadon.

Pears has to play. I get all the arguments not to, but as our 2nd keeper he needs minutes in case Kaminski gets injured or suspended. He must be able to perform capably v the likes of Hartlepool...
JRC right back, Edun LB, Phillips & Scott W as CBs; not many alternatives really in those areas.
Garrett, Morton & A Wharton as CMs, Dack as a roaming 10 with Markanday & Vale up top. Quite short & narrow, but Markanday & Vale have enough pace to stretch the opposition for Dack to fill in the hole.
That means a mainly experienced bench, with gaps for a couple of others like Butterworth, Burns etc.
why Pears, Hilton is a better keeper. JRC should be farther up the park ala Hedges position. Leonard should be on the bench to replace Vale.

Anyway, the point seems to have been lost that if we sign this player he might have the decency to come and live in the area.
It's not alot to ask
I think most of our bought players live around the Manchester area. You’ll not find them in the Postal Order on a Saturday night.

I’m assuming the majority of the team that played Huddersfield in a BCD game yesterday were from the team that played against Chorley last week. It would be good to find out who played. I wonder if Sam Burns kept up his goal scoring!

Then the development clubs get nothing, I would think it's rare a 17 yo of potential, then plays for a ' better ' club into his 30s
Gary Mabbutt is another that springs to mind.

Regarding Philips and other stand out youth players, there should be a fixed % of future transfer fee paid to the player developing clubs .
Ie now with him potentially signing a pro contract with spurs at 17 , rovers should get 30% of future fee. Previous club 10%
It might slightly put the big fish off, from youth player poaching
What happens IF the player goes to one one the biggest clubs in England and stays for the majority of his career. Then in his 30’s moves on on a free like Rooney. His club has won all the major honours and the club developing the player gets fuck all and no sell on fee.

No. Indeed, no one has in actual mens football.
But my comments to Joe where in no way in relation to judgements of Ash Phillips' ability and potential. It was around the outlandish comment that he could be a "generational talent." I was trying to ascertain whether his definition of a generational talent was different to mine whereby only a few players every generation could be defined as such, eg players like Mbappe and Foden in this generation. I don't argue against that he may well be the best centre back in the country at his age. The debate was about the description more than the player.
I’ve seen his performances for the u23’s and given he was 16 and he was playing against boys who were 3 to 5 years older than him. I would say he’s as good as Jones at the same age. Ash has had some injuries, he needs a full season injury free to really show if he’s the real deal. Don’t forget at season end he’ll still only be 17! Also there’s many a slip between cup and lip. Ciaran Donnelly was an example of the next great thing. We’ll have to wait and see with Ash.

Has he gone from the club or is he on holiday? Not seen him since he shook hands with Broughton last week. Thought he'd have been part of the Tomasson welcoming committee.
Perhaps he’s taken the hint and fucked off. Hopefully he turn up at some flee market selling his belongings. TURD

We now begin to see the consequences of our shambolic managerial recruitment process.
Lenihan off to Middlesbrough is, IMO, an avoidable loss. Seems, quite reasonably from his point of view, he was waiting to see who our new manager would be but the lad wasn't going to wait for ever. The signs were the new contract with us had been agreed.
Not a world beater but will be difficult and costly to replace at this level. This means immediately our new manager will have less to spend on strengthening other parts of the team as we will need a replacement for Lenihan because if anyone thinks we will get through a season with two from Ayala / Carter / Wharton then they need to think again.
Don't think our owners and Waggott will ever learn - completely and utterly shambolic management.
He was always going to go. He waited around to ensure he maximised the offers. He’s found his level, and Middlesbrough paying big bucks. No Premiership team we’re going to take a gamble on him, even those that have just been promoted.

John Buckley

John Buckley’s performance tonight just about sums him up. He was superb in the first half and then did a stupid ball bouncing off a borough player to get sent off. At that point it was 1-1 and everything to play for. He’s cost us the game. His behaviour our the last couple of years has been littered with indiscipline. My initial thought as he walked off Ewood was he needs fining the maximum the club can impose and have him in front of all the squad to apologise to them. Then send him off on loan to a lower league team, to show him that there are lots of talented players who don’t have the right game attitude. After cooling down we need him for the second half of the season but I’d leave him in no doubt that no one is indispensable, and a reoccurrence will see him traded in the summer.
if he wants to spit his dummy out I’d have him out the door in the new year.
John you have the talent fucking knuckle down you dick.
