You seem much more up for it than Clarets fans. We now have a thread on here 7 pages long  with a fair amount of  aggression being displayed. Compare this to the main Clarets site, a couple of threads mainly about team selection and memories of past games. Of course there will be incidents but the main offenders are likely to be the feared "blue and white bog squad"

That's because you've still got your Premier league plastics who don't even know who Kevin Ball is.

    You'll shake em off eventually.

What, exactly, was "rubbish" about that performance? We controlled the game in an attacking sense for an hour, should have had a couple more goals, then made a conscious tactical change to sit deeper and defend our lead for the last half hour which worked beautifully as we didn't give up a chance.

Exactly right, and only possible because of the signing of Hyam alongside Ayala.

Surprised to see the level of criticism on here for the two Wharton's - as has been pointed out by my sparring partner MP,  in general when Scott plays we win and when he doesn't we don't. Also although I only caught the second half last night I thought Adam was our most likely looking player so I certainly wouldn't be dropping him either. If anyone I'd be looking at Travis who gave the ball away time after time last night and seems to have completely lost his mojo.

I'm not sure either why people are clamouring for the return of Gallagher, he won't bring anything particular to the party, a classic case of a player improving in people's minds during their absence. We need BBD to pull out one final effort before the World Cup break and improve on his showing last night and then do what we failed to do last January and in the summer and sign a decent striker.

I know we all have our own opinion, but I don't really know how anyone could watch the match last night and not think that Gallagher might have helped the team.

Brereton plays better with Pickering behind him.

True. Hirst is a bit more proven though than BB was having done well for Pompey last season, but yeh Hirst is up against the clock to start justifying his future fee. Massive moment missing that penalty, hopefully starts taking his chances the next time he gets on.

Hopefully the break will work in Hirst's, and our favour. With the way Tomasson has patiently prepped players for the first team, I think he is being readied for the first team when the team returns.

It will be a long slog after the lads return, Brereton and Gallagher can't do it all.

It is always interesting to see a fan's eye view of Rovers, especially when the fan has, as in this case, a decent turn of phrase and an appreciation of players in the opposition ranks as well as the qualities of his own side.

Personally I think the analysis is a bit flattering on Rovers, but having said that, it didn't feel like Hull were likely to score at any point, and Kaminski wasn't tested in any meaningful sense throughout.

Let's hope JDT can rinse and repeat on Tuesday (assuming the fixture goes ahead).

    COYB!

    Good that 👍

  6. The boot's on the other foot now, some of my best mates are Burnley fans and they would rather we weren't playing, you can't lose if you don't play.

I sit there every cup draw and hope for a Derby, eventually we'll win and that timer will start ticking the other way.

Although I'll be nervous as hell, I'm looking forward to it a lot more than they are.

  7. Hats off to Trav at right back, saved a certain equaliser first half when covering for Wharton.

At left back we had the ever dependable Harry Pickering, proper player.

Kaminski, Wharton and Hyam solid as a rock in the middle. Hyam is turning out to be a brilliant signing, and so important that Ayala can chill for a bit.

Definitely a day for defensive plaudits, which started with Szmodics, Brereton and Gallagher.

Vale did a good job when he came on down the right.

7/4? I got us at 12/1 back in July. Only 7points between us and Reading in 8th. They beat us Saturday and its down to 4 and they'd still have a game in hand. We are also only 2 points ahead of you so you must have a similar chance of winning the league as us - plus if QPR win their game in hand they go above us.  Nothing is certain, especially with so many games still to play.

Normally when we play you I back you in a bet, a sort of cushion to soften the blow if we lose. I bet I don't get great odds despite you trying to insist we should beat you. Most on here seem to think we are not good and that you will beat us, fairly easily in some cases.

I say it every game, there's a fag paper between most teams in the Championship, look no further than yours and our matches against Brum these past couple of weeks.

So much depends on the timing of matches, it seems to matter more in this division than the others, teams blow so hot and cold.

It will be an intriguing match, Burnley obviously crave the possession, I'm sure Rovers will be more than happy to oblige, being happier without the ball.

Has they got more experience than we got really?

when we Kaminski, Hyam, Scott Wharton, Ayala, Brittain, Hedges, Szmodics, Travis, BBD and Gallagher.

Their older players may have more experience in years, but only one of them has anywhere near the knowledge of our younger players of what is at stake.

I can't imagine anyone needing to tell the Wharton's what is expected. That intensity can, of course, work both ways. We can't afford many early yellows, and definitely not reds.

    Hanley gifted them the win.

Another time I've watched them and been far from impressed.

Nothing to fear, bring them on.

    It'll be intriguing.

Watching them last night I was thinking that they play exactly how Rovers would want them to play, there's joy to be had on the break.

Stating the obvious, you'd think first goal will be crucial.

  11. It's a good question, I keep saying I'm waiting for us to click and play well, even over a full 90 minutes.

Eventually either the results will suffer, you can't keep hanging on in games and winning,or the results will bring with them more quality to the performance.

At the moment, what we are good at is getting the 3 points when we go in front. Long may it continue, it's a lot easier for Tomasson to do whatever it is he wants to do nearer the top than the bottom.

Being booed off at half time against Millwall, yet finishing the day in the top 6 is evidence enough.

I usually look at it like this - how many Burnley players would get in our team ? At the moment I can’t do that because I’ve hardly seen any of them play. However if Kaminski, Brittain, Ayala if fit, Hyam, Brererton  and maybe Hedges on this season’s form can’t get in their team they must have some good players.

Like most games midfield will be critical, can our teenage midfield group rise to the occasion ?

It's the local midfield lads I'm pinning my hopes on. I'm hoping the Wharton's, Buckley and Travis and all those other  young lads who have grown up around the club, let the others know in no uncertain terms what is at stake.
