  1. “We have some money to spend” Offload 2 players earning circa 15-20k a week (Baker and Siggy) Pay a million in 10 instalments for a player on 5-10 k per week, dress up a significant outlay and move on 😂
  2. Would take Brewster on the right deal. Clearly a player there, bear in mind a large number of those 95 appearances will have been while Sheff U were a premier league club. Theres potentially 100’s of reasons its not worked for him at Sheffield United, we’d certainly be sick if he signed for someone else and started banging them in. Can anyone name me (aside from probably Adam Armstrong) who these proven championship goal scorers are? I can’t think of another who scores regularly at this level. Let alone the cost in January a player who scored regularly at this level. A forward with experience of scoring goals at this level is not going to happen.
  3. Eustace absolutely has it in his locker to axe Pears. But he has to decide which keeper gives him his best possible chance of winning the game. Personally think Pears’ days as No1 are numbered ( that’s based on my opinion of what I have seen of him over the past 18months) I do think this game has come too quick for Toth though, trained with the team once before leaving for international duty. Just hoping JE isn’t waiting for a Pears’ clanger before dropping him. Pears like Wahlstedt may go on to be a decent keeper, that doesn’t mean we continue to persevere with them at the loss of 10-15 points a season for us.
  4. It’s the fight and determination that I love to see , it’s been years since we’ve had a team with back bone and bottle. The early season results Remind me of the the Souness/ Hughes teams of the early 00’s. Theres a long way to go but if we can use this new found spirit and mix it with a bit of extra quality we can go far. Injuries will go a long way to determining the success of our season. A pal from work (knows his football but doesn’t watch rovers) watched the Burnley game. Without being prompted from me the first thing he spoke about was that our keeper looked dodgy! He got away with a few moments that could’ve gone either way. Its a big decision for Eustace, I’m praying he’s not waiting for the inevitable Pears clanger before he gives the new goalkeeper a go.
  5. He’s very well thought of but had injuries over last 12 months. Asked Arsenal to tear his contract up after he failed to get a loan move apparently. He played at Ewood for Wigan the season they got relegated and looked the part, mobile, good on the ball. Injury issues will definitely be a concern though.
  6. George Hall signed for Walsall on loan
  7. Wouldn’t mind Cantwell off the bench tomorrow against the dingles. if we get Cantwell and both wingers sign we’ve arguably got the best squad since we got relegated from the PL, with the exception of THAT Bowyer squad with Rudy and Rhodes firing.
  8. I think they want Dembele and Duberry but are waiting for Birmingham to drop their price for Dembele.
  9. If it happening and they’ve met in London today, will surely be tomorrow for medical etc.
  10. Cantwell is completely different to Szmodics or Dack. Will improve us no end in possession, so good in tight spaces with both feet. Seems to cover a lot of ground, drops deep for the ball then breaks the lines in midfield by travelling with the ball. Although there will be an expectation of him to contribute G/A , I think he plays a bit deeper than that. He is a quality footballer, head and shoulders above the rest of the squad ability wise. I personally think he will be box office to watch down at Ewood. We seem to have, over the years, developed an ability of getting the very best out of players who join the club. I think at 26/27 he’s got a real point to prove in English football. Probably over the next couple of years will be his last chance of making it in the PL. My prediction: he gets flogged for 5-10 million next summer to a PL side after a good season.
  11. I don’t think it will get done. Despite the low fee, it’s a significant outlay, he’ll be earning well above everyone else at the club. Waggott will be fuming. Him and Suhail will do their upmost to kibosh the deal. Prepare for the “u-turn” tweets to start being dropped in before the club blame the player or his representatives.
  12. Waggott is London based, as are the UK based Venky Hench men.
  13. We can probably cross that one off then.
  14. I think he looks decent on the highlights you’ve posted 😂😂 granted I tend not to watch them as they very rarely provide an accurate reflection of players
  15. Surely still another spot… Gueye qualifies due to number of games in Belgium, That leaves Siggy, Ohashi and the GK? Unless Mafoumbi takes up a spot.
  16. Personally think if we get Tóth, Beck, Cantwell and a winger then our squad is far better than last season. Both forwards look like they offer more than Gally, Travis back and the experience of Batth and Weimann. I share the frustration around constantly cutting the playing budget, lies from the board and lack of a proven championship GK despite several being available but for balance I personally think the squad is stronger now than it was at the end of last season.
  17. So Toth Beck Cantwell + a winger Would we be happy?
  18. From a Hungarian journalist that broke the news. A punt, hopefully a smart one.
  19. He’ll be earning a fraction of Iversen, Rushworth, Ruddy and Travers.
  20. Where is this? Doesn’t surprise me. So frustrating how clubs make players available in the last week of the transfer window which makes it a mad rush for everyone. Would personally prefer a proven championship keeper, like the 3 linked, but hopefully this new one can bring similar form to Kaminski rather than Wahlstedt.
  21. 3 years ago 😂😂😂bet he wasn’t expecting to be going on loan to Rovers in 3 years time. Norwich wanted a fee of 40-50 million.
  22. Lewis Baker left out of Stoke squad tonight.
  23. Don’t think he’s a player measured on his G/A numbers. It’s his ability in tight spaces, drawing defenders, excellent in possession, two footed. He’s seen as a No 10 but I think he plays a bit deeper than that, completely different to Szmodics.
  24. Anyone who thinks Cantwell isn’t up to it needs to give their heads a wobble - serious talent, probably premier league level. Granted after his Norwich and Rangers exits there are massive questions around his personality and attitude. He’s got everything to tear up the championship, if he fancies it. If we can pick him up on the cheap it would be a massive + for the team. More exited about him then anyone else we’ve been linked with.
  25. Both Ruddy and Iversen looking like they may be available shortly with both clubs linked with new goalkeepers. (Trafford and Kaminski) Can see Travers going to the dingles with the Parker link and the likelihood of Trafford being on his way out. We may see another pay day when Kaminski inevitably makes his move from Luton to Leicester. I always find it bizarre when premier league clubs with big budgets leave their business so late - this has a knock on effect for clubs like us shopping around for the scraps that become available last minute as a result of their business.
