  1. I do wonder if they have an eye on the Japanese midfielder that Stoke have in the country but failed to sign so far. I suspect a few clubs will be keeping an eye on that. Not sure if he’s any good but will probably be a cheap deal and an additional midfielder.
  2. That’s potentially Yeboah, Dembele and Matondo (after his performance at weekend) off the list for the winger position if reports in the press are to be believed. Dembele Swansea bound, Yeboah off to Serie A and Matondo staying put. Are we expecting a name from no where or have we given up?
  3. Owen Beck the nephew of Ian Rush I believe. No nothing about him and don’t like to cast aspersions based on YouTube clips/highlights but we are surely making a conscious decision that he’s better than Gent. At 22 he’s not realistically going to break into Liverpools team. I do wonder whether this is a plan of getting him in for a look with a view of signing him permanently. Every team in the league loans players so I cannot understand the meltdown because we are doing so. It’s critical we back it up with a couple of buys that improve the club in the medium/long term. There is no doubting Cantwell’s quality at this level and probably above this level. There is obviously issues with him though in how he left Norwich and now how he’s leaving Rangers. I do think players of his quality are usually worth 10-15 millions. An opportunity to get a high quality player on the cheap?
  4. If you watch Dembele in these highlights he’s electric (start of last season under JE) Personally, I appreciate there are other options abroad but for circa 1 million I think he would supplement our attack really well.
  5. Manager seems set on Dembele. He does fit the bill of what we need, pace, direct and carries the ball. If we can pick him up for circa 1m think it’s probably a decent deal for us. You’ve got to trust someone who has previously managed him to judge is personality/character rather than joe bloggs on a Birmingham message board saying he’s a bad egg. There could be several reasons he’s not playing but having watched him a few times I don’t think that’s down to ability.
  6. I think we’ll be waiting for a Pears clanger unfortunately.
  7. Travers is a good goal keeper. Hopefully an element of truth in it. Played a bit more than Rushworth as well.
  8. I have seen that. We are both also aware that it’s total nonsense.
  9. I mean, despite all the money we have received for our best players, it’s abundantly clear to everyone we will only reinvest an absolute pittance of it. Id rather get the best player we can, in a position we are nothing short of desperate for, rather than take a 50/50 gamble (if you work off the success and failure of Kaminski and Wahlstedt) and be in crisis mode come November when we are shipping 3 goals a game again.
  10. I’d rather they just signed the best player they can get their hands on within their measly budget. Especially in a position that’s conservatively worth 12/15 points per year, probably more. Being disgruntled at a loan, when every club in the division regardless of budget loans players is a strange argument. If you were the manager would you choose one of the best keepers in the division for 12 months or a punt on a foreign option for a fee and a 3 year contract? I know in our current state in the goalkeeper department which I would choose without thinking twice.
  11. A lot of the Scottish media outlets seem fairly confident Matondo is on his way to us, Nicko not commenting on it. Suspect there will be an element of truth on him being close to a move to Rovers. They are clearly desperate to offload him. He’s been highly rated at previous clubs and certainly has pace. I presume the stumbling block will be his salary. Hopefully he wants to come and play football and get his career back on track.
  12. Rushworth one of the best in the division last season…. Surely a + for us regardless of the fact it’s only short term
  13. 7 days to get 4 in. Possibly 5 if you include a Szmodics replacement (this spot will be gifted to Dolan). Not looking promising is it. Will they blame the market, the fact they’ve had to restructure (not sure why this had to be done during a transfer window) or go for the old we didn’t want to hamper u21 player’s development? My money is Waggott will offer up Rudy to the press who will say it’s been a difficult window due to new structure and that things will be better going forward.
  14. 31 and never played outside Scotland? Do you know much about him?
  15. That’s because they had a sell on. When Szmodics is 30 next year, back in the championship, 10 million will be decent business I think
  16. Had they lined up Germain deal pre selling Szmodics? Now there’s a bit of a budget they are shopping round for probably younger options ? Surely there is a clear transfer strategy for each position, options lined up depending on price for each now? Somebody has to step up and make a decision or we risk the window closing with half a squad and money in the bank.
  17. Abu Kamara anyone? Just handed a transfer request at Norwich. Left footed right winger, 8 goals 10 assists for Pompey in League 1 last season. 21 years old, alternative to Poku?
  18. This is why I can see Tickle being an option for us. Small fee ( Wigan trying to flog everybody similar to us) young, highly thought of, cheap wages, high mark up in 12 months/2 years if he develops. England age group player.
  19. I think Lenihan, Rothwell, BBD, Nyambe, Dack is the reason they are now quick to sell- had opportunities to sell them all, failed to and as a result missed out on millions.
  20. The clubs plan is clearly to cash in on players when they believe they hold their maximum value. Results are secondary to this. Someone believes Travis will never be worth more than he does this summer, given his age and the length of time remaining on his contract. this is why it’s seen as a priority to offload him this summer despite his clear value to the team.
  21. Germain looks a different player from Gueye and Ohashi again. He looks like a really solid built player with a hammer of a left foot. I can see him being competition for the space currently filled by JRC. The question mark again will be he is able to come in, adapt and succeed at Championship level. There is a lot of footage of his goals doing the rounds, but what about his overall play? Is he able to offer the pace and power we lack? He also looks like he may pose another threat when balls are put into the box. Another exciting unknown quantity for Rovers. Good luck to him.
  22. Got over from Japan quick 😂😂
  23. Does no one think Germain coming in will be a direct replacement for Siggy for a fraction of the wage?
  24. Although £6 million is a lot of money, unless he gets a long term injury you are pretty much guaranteed a profit on Stansfield. If there is money in the bank I wouldn’t be surprised if they did part with it for him. Could easily be worth 10-15 million next summer if he has another decent season. They have form for paying money for players of that ilk, knowing they are likely to sell him on.
  25. Carter in January/ next summer will be the next big move out. I think he will have a good season and he is built for a higher level. Lightning quick, good on the ball and a good age. Didn’t have the best season last year but I think it’s coming.
