  1. 10 goals in 31 games for a team that only scored 33 goals all season. It’s actually pretty impressive when you see the full facts. If we were linked with someone who’d scored 15 for Rotherham last season would you be impressed? A gamble none the less but certainly not comparable to Telalovic and has potential to score goals
  2. We simply have to persist with overseas signings at the minute, low fees, cheap wages. This lad has miles more pedigree than Telalovic, playing two tiers above him and relatively successful. I can’t understand how people think we are going to go and recruit a striker with a proven record in England. A. These players don’t exist B. We aren’t spending money.
  3. Not bigging this lad up, quite frankly never heard of him. he’s probably being offered around by his agent after they have been relegated but Telalovic never played in the 2.Bundesliga and certainly hadn’t scored goals at that level. Would be another inexpensive gamble which I’m sure certain directors would be happy with…
  4. Bristol taking a punt on Sinclair Armstrong from QPR. Young but 3 goals in 61 championship games doesn’t make great reading. Surely they won’t be letting both him and Dykes leave.
  5. I think he is held accountable for his performance. The performance he is judged on is pound signs alone. More money clawed in the more impressed the owners are.
  6. McLaughlin would be an astute piece of business. Clearly up to this level, only 27 and for some reason available at a cut price fee. You make a good point about Cooper. We won’t last 10 games with 2 fit senior centre backs let alone a full season. We need 2 and I think presently this is far more important than any recruitment in the forward positions
  7. Dykes 34 championship goals Gallagher 50, Szmodics 38 (Dykes at a similar goals per minute ratio to Szmodics) I’m sure We could do a lot better if we had money, we don’t. I bet there aren’t many other clubs in the league with a forward line with that many goals between them. We’ve been spoilt over the years with good forwards, in fact we have rarely been without. Dykes and Gallagher would certainly be nowhere near the worst strikers in the league.
  8. If by some miracle we could get Begovic, Cooper and Dykes over the line I think they would massively improve us. Our team is devoid of experience, physicality and a bit nastiness. It has been for quite a few years.
  9. Ah the 12 monthly Lyndon Dykes rumours have surfaced again. He’s not got a great goal scoring record but QPR have been a very poor side over the last few years. Presume either his agent is trying to push for a move or someone within rovers likes him as this continues to resurface. FWIW I think we could do a lot worse. He’s clearly got something about him from his performances for Scotland and we will never again buy a forward with a goal every other game record in the championship whilst venky’s are at the helm. His hold up play is better than Gallagher’s and he’s certainly a threat in the air.
  10. Will be quite telling if Szmodics is involved today. The cynical side of me would say the protective boot from last weekend might be a decent excuse. I recall Hanley doing something very similar a few years back when Newcastle came calling. My money is on him not being involved at all.
  11. Have they been waiting to flog Szmodics all along and waiting for THAT money before we start going for players? Unlikely I know
  12. Personally don’t think we’d have ever got more than 10 million for him. My point is that we have all criticised the club for letting contracts run down and on this occasion they haven’t and we stand to get a decent fee for a player who has had a great season and will probably never be worth anymore than he is this summer. It matters not anyway because NONE of it will be going back into the team 😂
  13. Bet this was agreed when he signed his new deal at the turn of the year, allows club to safeguard getting a fee and would allow him a premier league move should one materialise. We can moan about the fee, but we would be complaining even more now if he was going into the last 12 months of his deal and was refusing to sign a new deal. Can imagine Szmodics party insisted on it as this will probably be his only opportunity for a move to the premier league and the big money that comes with it. Unpopular opinion but I don’t begrudge him or the club if he leaves for the premier league for a fee of around £8 million.
  14. Not sure. Just presumed he’d been injured, midfield not a priority for us but I think we could do a lot worse. He’s shown he can play at this level and is only 26
  15. Wonder where Allan Campbell is off, just been released from Luton. Was well thought of when he came South from Scotland. Played 42 times in Luton’s promotion season, spent last year on loan at Millwall.
  16. They have gone early and been proactive. Are there any players we are particularly jealous they haven’t come here though? Maybe Tanganga, other than that they have gambled on a few players from lower leagues, who may turn out well.
  17. Correct. He’s a left footer who’s considered pretty steady at this level. Again I’d be amazed if they were willing to sell a decent championship centre half for such a low fee.
  18. They would’ve changed their minds on him quickly. Signed a 3 year deal last summer.
  19. Be surprised if Hull are ready to sell McLaughlin on the cheap. They are in the process of selling Greaves for £20 million to Ipswich. I mean, what’s in it for them?
  20. Park tends to recruit from Overseas as well albeit with mixed results
  21. Yes, think both of them were part of the 4 players on exemption work permits with the new EFL rules. Leaves only Sigurdsson at the club and 3 places available under these rules. Tronstadt qualified for a work permit because of the number of games he’s played in the Eredivisie. If they don’t want to spend, abroad makes more sense than your 32/33 year old players with Championship and Premiership experience, even if those from abroad would command a small fee.
  22. Don’t think they will sign McFadzean or Fleck. They would’ve done it by now if they were going to do that.
  23. I agree in normal club circumstances. Unfortunately we aren’t a normal club and we don’t want to be agreeing to take on 3/4 players on 15/20 k per week for a couple of years with nothing to show for it on the other side. Batth, Ruddy, McFadzean, Fleck and Krul will all fall into this category and although the manager will want them and probably make sense on the football side, they don’t make sense financially. Hence the push back every time we try to recruit an experienced player.
  24. Looks like he’s due to play his last game for HJK this afternoon in a Champions League Qualifier.
  25. Article reads like he’s off to Europe for a fee of around a million euros. I’m sure his wages will be a pittance. They know they can get their money back if they need it. Low fee, low wages, low risk, small chance of making money if he turns out a good player.
