I still don't understand why Pears didn't clear the ball in touch for the first goal instead of giving it Hyam when Pears can see the Sheffield Wednesday player near him.

For the 3rd goal, Why didn't Pears take a touch like he has done all game before trying to clear it.

As quite a few have pointed out - they haven't got the ability to manage the pressure so they just fluff around them.

The pressure gets to them and they make poor and as recent times show quite damaging mistakes.

The Bristol game was just a nightmare for Hyam- he made mistake after mistake but because of poor man management he wasn't taken off.

Hyam was good for us last season so it's not that he's a terrible player it's a lot about confidence and managing pressure.

I just put myself through watching one of Pears early performances for us v Wigan, Jan 2022.

Commentator: "That's one of the worst 10 mins of goalkeeping I've seen in over 50 years of watching football."

So what did we do in the 2 years since? Make him our No 1. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Look at the difference in sqaud since then too.

    Wow

    What a decline

did you say that after the Leeds win or Southampton good draw? no but OTT after a defeat and tbh what did Hyam do wrong today?

I understand your point. Although I'm not going OTT. Just having a moan on a forum of fellow rovers supporters so don't worry!! I thought he was poor against Bristol and he looked like he picked up some urgency against Leeds but that deceived me. Like someone else said, any pressure (ie Newcastle and Leeds ) these lads play fine but as soon as we HAVE to win ala today they just succumb and we need a good leader to rally the troops. Sadly he does not show the required leadership characteristics

Thought he was at fault for the first goal too. He needed to come out for it, but he should have tried to send it out of play, and should have immediately sprinted back to goal when that didn't happen.

Before anyone says I have it in for Pears, I just call it as I see it game by game. For one thing I didn't blame him for a single one of Bristol's 5 goals, and thought he was very reliable against Leeds and a deserved MotM. Today was back to being Captain Ballsup.

    Hundred percent agreed!

    Problem is

"Everyone knows that when someone makes a mistake there is no problem, it's part of the game" JE

    Zero accountability

    This is terrible management

    No consequences for performing bad

This is why we keep losing and keep making stupid mistakes. Hyam Pears etc. Just not droppable and never held to account by this Fraud of a coach

Nah not for me. Caught out by a slight bobble it seemed (nowhere near as pronounced as the one that took out Flowers though). I've seen similar happen to numerous keepers in the game over the years. But you hardly ever see something as ridiculous as what he did against Wigan.

It says a lot that he is probably 2 of the top 3 Rovers keeper fuckups and we've only had him four seasons so far. And this at a club that had Fettis and Walton.

His errors have been significantly costly as well

Yes we were 2-1 down but if we get relegated his howler today is one of the key unavoidable reasons

We’ve failed to beat Sheffield Wednesday, Rotherham and Huddersfield this season.

6 games against three of the worst teams in the league and not a single win.

    What an absolute disgrace!

What did Troy deeney famously say about arsenal and a lack of cojones. Think that applies to us, our club, mentality and the direction we are going in.. clueless

We now have a huge problem - we now can't even rely on GD as a points buffer with Brum being the team in the bottom three with a currently equal GD.

This teams ability to play up to the big teams but be completely and totally inept against poor teams needs to be studied.

As a football fan we deserve to go down

As a rovers fan I hope we don't go down
