kargbo would be a massiveย  asset patrolling the halfway line looking to run onto throughย  balls,he would absolutely terrorise centre backs because he aint doing much tracking back defensively๐Ÿ˜„

Be like the old days of Garner, Bailey and Hird, with teams constantly on the back foot.. Nowt wrong with that!

And yes, Kargbo does seem quite zippy. I hope he is able to get into goal scoring positions very frequently, come the new campaign.

  2. We look like we are hungry for the ball all the time, which is the hallmark of a hard working and likely to get results side. Hard to tell from the stream and the quality of the opposition what that might mean in terms of performance in the Championship, but at least if we have a side that keeps going for 90 minutes and works hard on and off the ball, no-one will be complaining about a lack of Labore. Just need someone to add some Arte and we might have a decent season.

    Loving the VENKYS OUT banner.

I think our days paying for experienced premier league players are long gone now. In todays market we wouldn't even be able to get Downing or Graham. It really stretches us to get even experienced Championship players like Cantwell, Baath or Wieman.

We're obviously trying to stick to 10k p/w max. I get the sense Eustace really had to push to get Cantwell.

Oh for the chutzpah that brought Duncan McKenzie, Ossie Ardiles,ย  Steve Archibald etc to our club...

Instead we are desperate to hoover up scraps from clubs who were once well in our shadow..

Oh, the mighty are fallen indeed!

McKenzie is still around, mind ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ooer! Thanks for that delightful internal representation burned into my mind now..ย ๐Ÿคฃ

I couldn't care less about JE. I think he is a good manager, but I have no idea what he is like as a person. Same for VI - to be fair, certain Scottish historical figures apart, it isn't possible to break into management without having something about you, and a modicum of credibility.

Have we made progress this close season? Errrr....

    VENKYS OUT!

  5. Just over 2 and a half weeks now to the start of the new season, away at West Brom. All very quiet on the transfer front, albeit with the players in Spain for a pre-season kickabout and some sun. What is worrying me most as it stands is the prospect of losing any of our key players from here on in, such as Travis, Tronstadt, Brittain (although he has kind of gone already in my mind), or Pickering. Pre-season is important in terms of drilling a playing style and gaining team cohesion, and should we lose anyone key at this point, there will be inevitable impacts on whatever has been achieved during the pre-season run up. That is even before we factor in the challenge of integrating any incoming player(s) into the team.

It isn't beyond the wit of our opposition in the league to be delaying their moves in order to derail any momentum we have built up, not withstanding of course that bringing our players into their own set ups would cause similar challenges to those we would face, but hey - maybe they have greater strength in depth and can take the hit, whereas we are paper thin in terms of talent and capacity to accommodate disruption.

But don't listen to me - I'm just a crusty old codger, and I worry about all kinds of stuff that younger folk don't even consider real (yet!).ย

I'd rather we got our shopping done, declared ourselves 'complete' and set out our stall accordingly, so that worried old gits like me can look forward to the new campaign, instead of being scared of the shadows that most certainly (to me) appear to stalk our club.

    COYB! Get ready.

  6. I feel for TD, as it is clear he has been somewhat taken advantage of by our unscrupulous and blinkered so called management, in terms of access to the gravy train that has previously been the de-facto destination for any player capable of consistent performances on the stage we operate from.

As I've said previously though, Rovers have decades of experience of allowing those who 'down tools' to exit stage left, without anyone (from Andy Crawford in the early 80s, through Ryan Nyambe and we are led to believe Sammy) actually sinking the ship in the process of jogging on. Granted we made a few quid on Super Sammy, but in the grand scheme of things it didn't mean anything in terms of replacements on the pitch.

So, if Mr TD wishes to withdraw his labour, he is entitled to do so, and goes with my thanks for the graft he put in, but also with a little sigh of relied that we will no longer be wondering which TD has turned up each game..

Still apprehensive about our prospects for the coming season. We might well be fitter, but we lack the strength in depth and (crucially) the quality to mount a plausible and sustained campaign. It is going to be very much hand to mouth with the bargain bucket brigade I am afraid. And that says everything we need to know about the state of Blackburn Rovers in our 150th Season as a professional club. Disgraceful!

VENKYS OUT! PASHA OUT! RUDY GET YER FINGER OUT!ย

I think it's a stretch to say we're down Woodrow and Dennis. They contributed the square root of fuck all - which admittedly was part of the problem.ย

Agreed. Dennis was away with the fairies, and cost us goals with his careless approach. Woodrow was meh, but you could see he'd been a footballer at some point. But the underlying point is well made - a lack of strength in depth has cost Rovers dearly in each of the past 4 or 5 campaigns, with the post-December dip in form robbing us of any decent chance of progressing upwards. We somehow need to get to a place where every position has back-up, and they can all fit into the manager's preferred style and tactics.

    Ain't happening, is it?

But well done VI and the boys on delivering a decent performance today against a much higher quality (on paper) set of players.

Maybe VI is an alchemist, and Rudy is visionary and incisive.

Not holding my breath on either count, tbh.

He hasnt signed for someone. 2 weeks after officially leaving here he is without a club and training on his own. Wonder why he hasn't got a club yet

The Andy Crawford 'smokes his own exhaust' story repeats itself!

I always knew it would, one day.

Next thing you know, we'll be treated to pictures of Tyrhis 'training alone on the beach'..

Shameful, on the part of the faceless bastards behind the scenes at Rovers.

I re-read it and got very depressed. Thought, just what is the point. I don't think I care any more. It's like being locked up for life and not being able to find the escape tunnel. I thought to spare you all from my torment and hit delete.

Been there. Thanks for sparing us your darkest inner thoughts. We share your pain. RIP the Real Rovers!

  11. I wouldn't trust this lad to hold the door to the bog for me, let alone his ability to plan effectively for a multi-million pound social enterprise like Blackburn Rovers.

Hell's teeth, Myrtle, the level of vacuosity, rabbit in the headlights, Bambi before the lioness and sheer haven't got a clue-ness about the lad... Beggars belief.

Blackburn Rovers - the perfect analogy for the UK in the 21st century - hollowed out, ruined by incompetence, no discernable strategy for change, hazy objectives, run by cretins and bankrupt despite being 'owned' by some of the richest folks on the fooking planet..
