  1. " Times are changing. I don' t know how long young people are going to want to sit down and watch that same old 'jacket, shirt and tie' format.

"Fans want people dressed like them. They've got no one to relate to on TV and that's why I've said to them I don't want to do the England games anymore."

What a load of nonsense. The BBC isn't aiming to attract 'young people'. They are providing a service to an extremely large demographic; you know...football fans. I couldn't give a monkey's if the coverage is stuffy and the pundits are wearing suits. You tune in to watch a match. End of.

  2. "Friday Night Lights" by H.G. Bissinger. recommended by Rovermatt

A brief description: It's a brilliant study of small town America and the obsessions and lives of the people who live in places like Odessa, Texas.

    Back up to the top.

I'm now half way through this. A weird & wonderful tale of West Texas, school (American) football & small town attitudes. Gripping read.

Fantastic isn't it? If you haven't seen the film or TV show I would highly recommend both.

  3. You must have very low expectation of films. Escapism is one thing, but I have to say I thought it was just shocking. Meet the Spartans is also widely considered the worst film since Epic Movie. :)

I saw There Will Be Blood last night. It's draining but absolutely amazing. Day-Lewis's performance has to be seen to be believed.
